you can probably use the excellent players you played online thread. we already use it as a general online discussion thread. it’s very heavy on XBL guys at the moment.
Is this legal?
GGPO has a player lobby, so matchmaking is in real-time!
Bump. After some shameless promotion, we have started seeing many many new faces! Come on GGPO and have a fun time!

Im sleepy. Khang.
Guess ill try to set this up when I have time this weekend, will my PS3 TE stick work on pc?
yes, but depending on which pc you have you might need a pci to usb adapter.
Would it be silly to use a virtual console to run windows and GGPO on my Mac? Not enough resources to run it properly?
beyond my scope of knowledge! wouldn’t know what type of extra shit virtual machining would do!
I’m trying to download GGPO again and Avast is saying the site has malware? Can anyone let me know if it’s just my computer acting up?
Don’t think I’ve ever heard that particular complaint vsDenjin. The software itself has no adware/malware, and the site is also pretty cut and dry. Not sure why your Avast would say that, but if you don’t feel comfortable, I’m sure I could transfer it over for you over AIM or something…
Nah, I just decided it was a false positive and turned it off for a bit to download it. Got it running thanks to your vid.
overdue bump!
these days is it common to have to re-challenge 10-15 times before successfully connecting, or is that a symptom of one of you not having all your ducks in a row?
It’s a symptom that occurs between 0-2 times a week where the GGPO server is overloaded for any number of reasons (chinamen and mexicans playing KOF, mostly) . A telltale sign is when you have a delayed login, or you have to try any number of times to login before finally actually getting in. Ideally, you should wait a minute or so AFTER the game window has loaded to see if it will connect. Alternatively, you can continually cross challenge until you hit bingo.
cool thanks, I was hoping it was that and not something to do with ports or configurations that’s above my head. we ended up getting to play after a about 20 minutes of trying, so I guess it worked out.
Hi, I’m having trouble with ggpo on my new windows 8 laptop.
it runs poorly/choppy no matter the ping. I have tweaked the settings to what some people have recommended already.
is the only potential solution to downgrade to windows xp or 7? Anyone else have a bad experience with ggpo w/ windows 8?
Thanks in advance.
Edit: I have already disabled auto frame skip, removed blitter options, tried basic/enhanced for the visual shit, set display options in windows to “performance”, and even did this thing where I terminated dwn.exe(?)
GGPOFBA on anything but Windows XP is a complete crapshoot as to whether or not you will get the stutter.
Thread that explains more - Measuring GGPOFBA Micro Stutter
You can try messing with different blitters and window sizes, then benchmark to see what lessens it the most. Others have suggested it comes down to how your video card drivers deal with older DirectX calls and you may just be fucked regardless.
@jedahsministry Thanks for the fast reply. Seems complicated
From browsing that thread, it seems as if it’s only offering a test to see “micro stutter” and not any real solution.
the last 3 months I was playing on a desktop with windows 7, and the monitor even had a sticker that said something like 3ms input lag.
The new laptop I have now doesn’t say anything about the monitor, however I’m assuming it must be decent since it came with an Nvidia GeForce GT 750m and a 2nd integrated intel video card (guessing this means it was meant to cater toward gaming?)
Sounds like the optimal solution is to install windows xp then?
Dual booting to XP is gonna be the best way. Otherwise it’s going to be changing blitters and running benchmarks over and over to see what lessens it the most, but it will still be there.
