Since godless mode confirmed it the first team is: Taskmaster (Horizontal Arrows)/ Doctor Doom (Hidden Missiles)/ Amaterasu (Cold Star) Time to go forth and break Honzo’s team, I already have an idea for some new unblockable set ups. ^.^
Wish it was Akuma anchor instead of Ammy. I play Task with tatsu pressure and it is so good, but there’s not much you can do I think besides basic air series off a confirm of that.
With shield skills + cold star, do you have to do shield skills (call Cold Star at the same time) > 2 arrows for it to be confirmable?
Personally I don’t think assists should be locked in. There are a lot of unexplored assists in this game and if you’re going to restrict characters who have already been used in the last couple of rounds then it will take forever to get through their assists and really see what potential they have. It’s fine to encourage optimal assists but strictly limiting them just means we won’t see some good (but overshadowed) assists like Molecular Shield, Drones (bombing run), or Spitfire Twice for a very long time.
On the other hand I think some people on the previous page are underestimating just how much tech is still undiscovered and I think we absolutely should limit this to one entire team rather than individual characters. Looking at an entire team together gives us a much better focus than if everyone were using 1 character with 1225 possible combinations of partners, but I don’t think looking at different assists within that 1 team would be nearly as detrimental to that focus.
My PS3 is dead, but I’d probably be looking for Guard Breaks (the same frame throw+assist ones) using doom’s dash cancelling + ammy calls. Just saying.
Not everything has to be about combos…
If nothing else, this gives you a starting line view of how tech gets developed that you can gradually apply yourself in the future.

Honzo, I will make your underutilized, unpopular, unknown team worthwhile. I don’t know anything about Taskmaster, just now learning how to use Ammy, and I play Footdive instead of Doom, but I got this. When I win, the team for next week is gonna be Nova/Thor/X. See how nice I am. I’m letting you pick the third character.

On the real, I agree with having the assists be open to whatever we want.
Okay, editting the first post, feel free to suggest assists for ideas, but people have full reign on which assists they want to use for the team.
Ammy’s meter build assist is situationally good vs zoning teams as doom/ammy as you can play patient and build meter for thcs as opposed to trying to get within a range to use cold star. You lose utility with taskmaster though.
Also, vs hawkeye teams, it can be smart to put ammy second as some players will actually tag in hawkeye for the horrible doom matchup once they kill taskmaster. Ammy is respectable with a doom assist and can duck his shots, reflect shit, and is overall just much better vs hawkeye. If she lands a hit, she can always tac infinite or go for the slowdown DHC setups into a TOD.
This is a cool idea. I’m in.
@Honzogonzo: Can you give us an idea of what tech you think you need so we have somewhere to start looking? I feel like the person that chooses the team should give us a rundown of whatever tech they currently have worked out so we can try to build rather than everyone running without any direction at all.
I feel this is like a devilish plan made by Honzo to get tech for SCR, but anyways, everybody will benefit from this sooner or later.
With team tech development, I think that only character choices should be restricted to a vote, and that assists and order is up to the player. This doesn’t only help in finding underutilized tech with assists and DHCs, but it will also help understand why certain team synergies are better than others. People will start finding out what options you are missing out on when you have a meter assist with Amaterasu instead of cold star, or that your first DHC from Taskmaster can be into a slow super if you have Amaterasu on the second spot. I can see how people will start understanding the game more even if they don’t find new technology that is significant to the metagame.
Chrisis, we’re trying to do a more organized stream for the Freedemonia sessions and start tomorrow. We can have a segment dedicated to developing tech for this thread. I had a few other ideas, like after one week of developing tech we can do 2 tournaments for the team in that cycle. The first tournament will be everyone choosing the set team in a double elimination with a 1st and Last place, we’ll have to do a bottom bracket. Then the second tournament will be a regular tournament but with the 1st place and Last place of the previous tournament playing the CTTD team. This way we have more of an incentive not to lose and find viable ways to utilize technology in a tournament setting, and also expose some people out there.
Morrigan’s meter assist is the only one worth using, due to it actually being fast and fairly safe. In fact, you can call Dark Harmonizer again before you can even call your other assist with Bloom. You should never give up Cold Star with characters that can abuse it, and if they can’t you might as well just pick Morrigan instead.
