Here’s my reasoning for the Vergil/Hsien-Ko pairing. I want to make the optimal Hsien-Ko team. She’s a bad character, but she has a lot of utility and I think she helps Vergil out quite a bit. That, and it would be fun to get all the great minds of SRK together and figure out what it takes to make at least a B, or dare I say, B+ level team with Hsien-Ko on it.
I HONESTLY don’t think Hsienko is as bad as everyone thinks.
There are a lot of people suggesting suggestions to suggesters. Who has the final say?
If I were to play Hsien Ko I would play Hsien Ko/Harmonizer/Missiles. If Hsien Ko does good you get missiles + armored pendulum. LOL.
Yeah thats what I was thinking. If someone could find a way to for hsien ko to survive long enough in the neutral to call harmonizer 3 times then DHC into Astral, the team would be pretty much unstoppable at that point. You probably wouldnt even need to DHC into astral as Im pretty sure Hsien Ko has a few safe hard tag techniques.
Also I think everyone goes through a phase of wanting to pick up Hsien Ko at one point in their marvel career lol.
Hsien-Ko is awful on point. You’re not going to get those calls against most characters, plain and simple. Her hard tag tech amounts to throwing out an H Gong. I see what you’re getting at with the team but it should be run Morrigan/Hsien-Ko/Doom.
And can we not do that on this cycle? I think everyone knows about Morridoom at this point =(
Nah any team with low tier character, the worst character should always be first IMO. Like the Ghost Rider/Dorm/Doom stuff that Champ does. Just have them be beefy as fuck through support (even though still not great) and if they die and shell lands, still in there.
Plus Hsien Ko all you’re really trying to do is not even win the match. Just not lose so Morri/Missiles/Armored Pendulum comes out and gets super beefy.
Next cycle should be Rocket Raccoon/Strange/Ammy. Super theory MVC2 Anakaris you die Nihon goodness.
I dont wanna see it either, just wanted an excuse to talk about that fun team. And yeah your point abilities are different when your goal is literally just to call an assist 3 times and not get hit. Its a different kind of marvel.
I think Shuma/Dorm/Doom would be a pretty cool team to see. I imagine Hyper Mystic smash dhc into stalker flare would be godlike, with all the little shuma balls staying out fully protecting Dormammu as he comes in. Also theres been a few questions here and there about Dorm with mystic ray so maybe we could look into it more. Angelic plays that shell but he gets alot of his work done with logan so you dont get to see the neutral of Dorm/Mystic Ray that much.
The person who has the last say is whatever the majority rules. At first it was winner with the most voted on best tech contribution, then we did random number so it just seems to change on a whim I do like the random number thing though.
Hsienko could be really good in some fights but her support is really good to warrant her to be played imo.
I would really like to see under developed point with good assist/shell backing them.
I want some of these teams:
-Thor point team
-Skrull Unblockable based team (Skrull on point or 2nd with a unblockable loop character on 2nd)
-Joe point team
I think that if you want to play Hsien-Ko as a point, you need Cold Star. In order for her to do much of anything, your opponent has to be pretty much standing still. Cold Star allows that to happen for 2-3 seconds at a time. LL.ND does this pretty well and it actually makes her look scary character once they get caught in the ice since you have time to do her slow-teleport dash for left/right/up/down mixup shenanigans.

All this Lei Lei love in this thread is wonderful. I used to run her on point then DHC her out for that (almost) gdlk armored Senpu Bu protection for PWright, Joe, Nova, Rider, etc which I’m sure everybody did as well. As always missiles + anything is amazing, mixing in a fucking pendulum freight train just to keep your opponent’s offense honest also works wonders imo.
I think this thread is focusing too much on top tier characters and not enough on builds for less used characters. I would like to see some Tron discussion, as I think the community underestimates what she is capable of. With Tron most people dropped her because of the nerfs to her assist, not her point game, which hasn’t changed as much as everyone seems to believe.
I don’t have any undiscovered tech with this weeks team unfortunately, even though I play Dorm/Mags, some useful information I have is that you can make your Dormammu’s block strings safe by adding disrupta in there. Since I don’t use Felicia, I have 0 tech. This thread may as well be the Team Talk thread with the past 2 teams, hahah. We should get something unconventional going this time. Characters I’d like to see would be x23, V-joe, Strange, Firebrand, Nemesis, and maybe Rocket Raccoon.
I personally think Tron is midtier but thats just me. Plus she has really good dhc synergy with pretty much everyone in the cast and especially the top tiers. Regardless the game is shell based and the top tier shells make it so you can play a lower tier character so expect to see a lot of those characters often. It also doesn’t help your case in that all the BEST assist in the game are attached to the HIGHEST TIERED characters.
I agree. My vote goes for a team that has Joe and Tron on it, they’ve got alot of synergy together and I’ve got alot of tech to share on them. Hell, just use my team of Tron/Joe/Haggar haha. Another interesting Joe team would be Joe/Deadpool/Ironman.
Nice to find someone else who agrees that Tron isn’t bottom tier. Compared to other underused characters in the “bottom” tier I think she has the potential to break out. She has unique tools like projectile nullifying fists, capture state projectiles that go full screen and near meter neutral TODs. She also brings an invincible cross over and a decent projectile as assists.
I know that most of the best assists are tied to the top characters, but there are some great assists on underused characters too (Modok bomb and RR log trap come to mind). I just don’t want to see teams that are all just variations of Magneto/?/Doom or ?/Spencer/Vergil.
The first 3 teams we have done have not had an oppressive top tier duo yet so we are pretty much good. Everybody here I think just wants originalllity mixed in with there favorite characters.
Umm…Doom/Ammy was the first one…Dante/Hawkeye was the lowest tier pairing…3rd one was Dorm/Mags…

Back to business tho, how are we doing this week? Anyone that posted info to help out last weeks (regardless of new tech status since I don’t think anything was new) cycle gets a day to suggest a team and we do our random selection? Did anyone ‘win’ last week (to deserve the 25% bonus)? I don’t really feel like it, personally.

Someone asked about the Felicia/Akuma pairing, I suggested Spencer, labbed around a bit, found this among other tech. If you guys wanted to do this team I’d be down, it’s super fun.
