Community Team Tech Development: Cycle 11 Strider Hiryu/Doctor Strange/Akuma

well i made a beginning concept video with a part i forgot to cut out because im dumb. a lot of it is real iffy looking in the video but that’s why it’s concept stuff. some way to advance those ideas to make them more useful/viable. the combination of storm/jam session is built around burning xf2 and abusing storm’s movement with jump->flight stuff with jam session. also silly gimmicks like foul wind + call jam session.

It seems to me that jam session would give storm room to zone a little bit. If the opponent has strong horizontal moves that can hit Dante out of jam she can jump and either lightning sphere or typhoon. If they don’t have strong horizontal stuff she can throw a whirlwind. If she can get people thinking she is going to hit them with a projectile it gives her time to air dash in.

Am I wrong here?

hawkeye/storm/dante is a good team. i’ve been playing magneto/storm/dante and I can add some of the stuff I’ve found. We should definitely continue with this team instead of some doom bs again.

you can really do a lot of fun stuff with jam session+storm’s pushing/pulling moves by the way.

I like tabs idea because Storm.

Also, because the team I play most right now is Iron Man, Storm, Strider.

Does this mean that a Title Change is required, so that we may begin using Tab’s Team Choice?

also did ya’ll know that storm can raw tag into dante off normal juimp airthrows for combos? hopefully someone fines a way to make that work out and do good damage. i genuinely feel that’s the biggest issue on the team since you’ve got a such a crutch when you get 2 meters in dealing with most situations.

Yeah it’s known that Storm can hard tag characters off her throws into real damage. Dante is one of the better characters in the game at doing that due to him actually doing damage at minimum scaling.

Unfortunately I don’t think it’s possible for storm to combo off her ground throw and I think it’s only possible for her to get Elemental Rage if I’m not mistaken.

You can combo off her ground throw by doing a pre-emptive jam session call, but it’s kinda weird and inconsistent. Depending on the timing the opponent either quickly techs out on the ground or gets hit by the last hit of jam session. The meter build I can get off it is pretty poor amount, too. Not even one

I’ve been cramming for KiT tomorrow but I’ll hop in the lab and see if I can stumble onto anything.

The main idea for this team is MoriDoom countering, right? I need to see about making a compilation of popular MoriDoom spam cycles for setting up realistic counter-lab work…

I’m also gonna go and scout out the 3 characters forums and dig through youtube to see if there’s been any relevant tech posted there since it’s something I can do while I’m at work and cross-post or link it here if it’s something that we might be able to use.

mr puppy do you have any combos with storm dante that do 900k or more off a j.s for 2 bars?

the closest thing i got only does 830k… and i’m fitting a typhoon in there too and everything. at the very least it builds one bar but it’s like… jesus what’s with this low damage

there’s gotta be some clever way to get around this

i’m pretty sure with a real dante combo that i don’t know and poison tip assist you can break 1mil with that if you dhc to storm

sadly my dante is even worse than that- i can’t even hit the groundbounce reset

I’ll get in the lab with this some time soon. Doubt I’ll make any break throughs, but we’ll see.

For Hawkeye corner throw hard tag into Dante you get 910kish~ with 2 bar with a DHC into Storm(not poison arrow, I don’t recommend using poison arrow with how good triple arrow is):
Raw Tag, Volcano, jH xx Airplay jH, stS, jH xx Airplay, jH xx Killer Bee, backdash stS~H, Stinger BC into 2 options,
Hammer Volcano xx Bee Hive(you can add Hawkeye assist here) xx Milllion Dollars into Hail Storm
Or Firedance, Acid Rain, Volcano jS Volcano xx Bee Hive, doesn’t add much more damage the above, but builds more bar.

For Storm hard tag into Dante the hitstun scaling is higher, so you can’t use airplay confirms 300-350kish meterless:
So you have to use Volcano jMHxx Killer Bee, backdash stS~H into wall bounce, teleport Hammer, Volcano xx Bee Hive
Or Shot loops after the killer bee. Better overall since better meter build

I’m pretty sure you can use Thunderbolt loops in XF2 to solve Storm’s damage problems.

Whirlwind seems like a neat assist for Dante’s mixups as it pushes back so you can get ghetto left rights by double jumping and airdashing. It seems pretty decent. Although Hailstorm into DT is not a good setup for mixup as it’s all blockable by autoblock.

For Hawkeye zoning patterns both assists are great, although it’s probably optimal to go for:
stHcall Whirwind xx DP M or H arrows to cover the entire screen.
stHcall Jam Session xx qcb M, H arrows.

You can set up some neat strings midscreen with whirlwind assist and you get nice combos by abusing freeze shot along with Whirlwind.

stMxx qcb L, Poison shot + Jam Session or Whirlwind is a very nice defensive confirm for Hawkeye, and he gets a full confirm on hit using qcf M arrows.
slide + assist qcb L, poison shot is a good offensive blockstring too. They both pushback on block which helps keep people off him.

Both assists are fantastic for Hawkeye imo and work very well. I recommend the assists to be Hawkeye-Tripple Arrow/Storm-Whirlwind/Dante-Jam Session.

Jam Session is brutal for the characters that lose the zoning matchup against Hawkeye, and it helps him out a lot vs rushdown characters. It’s one of his better assists period if not his best.

Wait so has the main team changed yet? I’d be willing to lab it up and help as long as the team doesnt bore me to death.

are you using jam session as an extension? Storm->dante isn’t going to get much higher than 830k i think. I tried screwing around with Devil trigger in the combos somewhere, but that doesn’t really help too much.
