This is the most important thing to me right now, and I think I have a bit to contribute to it by means of general/universal options.
His incoming options are to press buttons or block; we want to get him to only think about doing the latter. Right now I think one of the best options is to chicken guard at the right range to deal with helm breaker. You have to fake out somehow (like calling an assist), but it’s an easy throw punish after that into death. Incoming Dimension Slash sucks because of the random cross-up, but I think we can figure out how to block it since there’s usually a window after it’s activated where you aren’t in blockstun. Otherwise meaty attacks are the way to go. Certain characters have better options against him; I think Iron Man, Trish and Dante can both keep him from pressing any buttons on incoming and force him into a mixup, and Jam Session obviously helps anyone.
Devil Trigger is another story, in general I wouldn’t fuck with him too much when he’s in Devil Trigger, but again, certain characters can still give him trouble.
Dang, forgot about the S-cancel. How retarded. I guess my problem with mixing up Vergil is that I’m scared to use Cold Star. When trying to do a crossup setup on incoming, Ammy frequently gets hit by Helm Breaker if I call her too close or Dimension Slash if I call her too far away. So is there no point in going for anything other than meaty setups?
Also, fuck Helm Breaker having an upwardly-extended hit sphere.
If you have anything with invincibility or armor, throw out ammy as a bait. If you see the startup of helm breaker, super >XF > kill. (This is very easy with X23 since all of her super have i-frames, but get creative.)
Also, Vergil can only chain into S on hit, so find some move that can avoid the helm breaker altogether and punish the whiff recovery.
Anti-Dante tactics= Throwing out antiair normals/jump throw when he does a box dash, since H has a long startup, and not many dante’s use boxdash M enough. And obviously bait teleports, but be careful of assist calls or fake teleports. Stinger + Assist + teleport can be throw-punishable if timed incorrectly.
Anti-Vergil= Blocking. Zoning. Making them make bad decisions. Also, bait helmbreaker crossunder, risky but rewarding.
Anti-Jill= ? I seriously get blown up when I get paired up with someone who knows how to use this character.

I explained on my stream little tricks to blocking magneto. Each emptyjump low is grabable just block like its a normal trijump then OS back dash throw by plinking H-M. If its high you get a pushblock, if its low you grab them,If its grab it gets teched, and if they whiff and anticipate upback you get a quick dash into crouch. But if you’re locked down by an assist your best bet is to just hold down and go from up back to down back as fast as possible. I’m telling you very soon unless we step up our OS game it’s going to be alot harder to win. Obviously people are always gonna get opened up when its surprising or when there’s nerves involved.
The problem with what your saying is against a great player you aren’t gonna get many chances to actually mix them up. i can play a full set with bum and loose ryu and beat his whole team with mag drones but only make him block 1 tri jump the whole round.
To beat Dorm’s keepaway game with missiles, use a mobile air/ground character in conjunction with a beam assist with long active frames. Once he is forced to block, put on pressure and don’t let him breathe.
I guess most people don’t know this, but you can actually punish Dante’s helm breaker xx hammer using chicken block into airgrab. it’s kinda hard though.
No one ever posted anything about Nova’s boxdash h? Any tips?
Also any tips pnishing charging star + assist into hyper cs? Need tips on punishing that 4 frame but only -5 on block 2A when my fastest low is 6 frames too please.
