Batman: The Dark Knight
Status: pre-production

Rumored:
The Flash - http://www.hyperborea.org/flash/movie.html
status: developmental hell

Shazam - http://www.themovieblog.com/archives/2006/04/shazam_the_movie.html
status: writer and director on board, pre-pre-pre-production

Watchmen - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Watchmen_(film)
status: scheduled to shoot 2007 (With the success of 300, It looks like Zack Snyder will really go through with this)

Spidey 3 will be hot. The only thing that’s going against it is a slew of villains (there’s going to be 4 we just don’t know who the 4th one is) and it might be too much to pull off. Still I have faith in Sam Raimi to knock it out of the park.

Fantastic Four 2 - It looks good. I don’t see how they could mess up the Silver Surfer and Galactus story. Then again, I didn’t see how they could mess up Doom in the first movie and they managed to do it. Hmmm…

Iron Man - I love Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man. Why? Because Iron Man’s an alcoholic, we all now RD can play that! Shoot they should switch his addiction to crack / cocaine and make it even worse. IM will be snorting a line of coke on his couch when he notices one of Thor’s hairs. I’m telling you, he had to be HIGH to come up with the idea of Clor…

Batman 2 - Heath Ledger as the Joker worries me so I’m hoping they saw something I didn’t. I loved the first one but they heed to fix those fight scenes where you couldn’t see what the heck was going on, that really was the only weakness of the first movie.

the only way i could tolerate heath ledger as the joker is if they brought tim burton back to direct “joker scenes”

scenes where the joker is the focal point and you “see” things the way that the joker would as he began to lose control.

i think it would be pretty neat.

imo.

Everyone who goes into the Batman sequel expecting Joker to be written or portrayed like he was in the first will likely be in for a letdown. Some would argue that Nicholson’s portrayal was one of the most spot on of a character ever done. Pretty over the top, ridiculous but still with the crazy edge to him.

That being said, I think Nolan is a much different director than Burton and for that reason, I have faith that he picked Ledger for a reason.

Well, there’s a new rumor, David Goyer did confirm that he came off of the Flash project because he couldn’t agree with Warner Brothers over what would make a good Flash movie… but he’s rumored to be working on a Green Arrow project:

Sounds pretty good, too, other than the name (hopefully its just a working title)

The thought of the holocaust that the Watchmen movie will be is making my penis sad. Put simply, it cannot be done. The best we can hope for is a V For Vendetta-style chop job.

I’m sure this is probably old but …

huh.

I only wish of one thing for the upcoming Batman movie.

Please, please, PLEASE make a good costume.

I really hate the rubber costume and its even worse in Batman Begins when he couldn’t even move his neck and its as if he was wearing a neck brace, plus the costume sucked. The last good costume I thought was Val Kilmer’s.

I’ve said it before: any Batman costume where you cannot clearly see the bat symbol is an immediate fail.

Actually, if I remember correctly, Begins was the first time that the actor could move his neck while in the batsuit.

That said, Batman Begins is easily the best bat-movie, but in my eyes it is still far from perfect. As you’ve mentioned, the rubber costumes suck and I don’t know why filmmakers insist on having them. I think Batman is at his best when he’s going low-tech: a spandex suit with kevlar underneath, some basic miniaturized crime-fighting tools, and little else. The more fancy gadgets he has, the less dramatic the stories are. Never mind that it’s pretty easy to narrow down Batman’s secret identity, when he obviously has to be both wealthy and connected to an industrial firm because of all the crap that he has.

The way Frank Miller wrote Batman in Year One, or the way Alex Ross paints Batman, could have been exemplary models for BB. Some batarangs, a grappling hook, lock picks in the gloves, a blowgun in the boot, stuff like that. Batman shouldn’t be flashing his bling all around town.

Holy hell, laffo.

On the news they announced that Edward Norton would play Dr. David Bruce Banner in the Hulk sequel.

So whenever they change an actor in a comic book movie (see X-Men movies and 3 Kitty Prydes, 2 Pyros, 2 Beasts) in my head I usually think, “New comic book artist draws the character differently in the next TPB!”

I never really thought about it that way before, but that is sort of how it is.

So what is a film director analogous to in a comic book? The editor?

Yeah something like that I guess.

It probably depends on what era, I guess. From what I understand, the balance of creative control tends to waver between the editor and the publisher every decade or two. Maybe that’s kind of like how certain movies are helmed entirely by the director, and how some have the producer involved. Or maybe I’m just overthinking this.

Anyway, Spidey 3 is just two weeks away. Despite myself, I am getting psyched for it. I hope it’s good.

Is it just me or does that pic of Venom look like a bad Halloween costume?

Then again, seeing static pictures of something and seeing it in motion are two different things. The new Superman suit looked like the gayest thing since gay went to gaytown in a still pic, but in the movie it looked just fine for example.

Oh, and to whoever thought that Val Kilmer’s was the best Batman outfit, I have two words for you: Bat Nipples.

Silver Surfer will be voiced by Laurence Fishburne in FF2.

And the best Batman outfit ever IMHO is in this kind of old fan made film of Batman vs. Aliens vs. Predator. Gray and black for the win (like… I dunno… the comics…) black leather for the loss.

The Val Kilmer suit is still the best Batsuit IMO…save for the nipples, if it just did’t have nipples it would be the ultimate Batsuit for me. I remember being 10 years old when Forever came out and I was stocked when I saw the suit, it was kind of weird to me that Batman managed to get around 10 years younger and taller for some reason but anyway, the suit would be really good if you just forget the nipples. Joel Schumacher is suppossedly editing a director’s cut version of Batman Forever for DVD with a darker subplot including a ton of scenes that didn’t make it to the theatrical cut. He should digitally erease those friggin nipples!!

I guess you havent heard the news that Galactus appears as a cloud.

Yeah, turns out the are not doing the Silver Surfer / Galactus story and are going with Doom taking Silver Surfer’s powers. I guess Galactus will be for part 3… I mean, he can’t look worse then that Danger Room Sentinel in X-Men 3 but you never know…
