Tiggy: I think traditional fighting game people look negatively at Brawl because its so different. It truly wasn’t meant to be a competitive, but people just don’t care.
For some reason people think it isn’t a “fighting game” because there aren’t a lot of combo strings or a way to combo into final smashes. They overlook the fact that the game is centered around avoiding your opponent and waiting for the right time to strike back.
Now, don’t get me wrong, you can rush down with the right character but if your opponent is good at side-stepping, rolling, or perfect sheilding (which is like a parry) then you’re in trouble.
I think if people took the time to learn it they might like it. And play however you want. If you don’t like the community rules don’t compete. That’s why there is Alls Brawl! That’s a mode of Brawl where all items are on and all stages are on and no one can cry about it.
Sorry for the rant, haha, I just think its a great game and people should give it a reall good and fair chance.
The main reason I don’t like Smash is my overall experiences with the community haven’t been so great. Like, the first Melee tourney I went to the guy running the brackets was talking mad shit. He was like “…and after he beats you, this is who you’ll fight in losers’.” I didn’t even say anything to the dude. The guy I got beat by was a beast Peach player and not a jerk lol.
I’d give it a chance if I didn’t hate it as much as 3S. I was p decent in Melee, and I did my fair share of studying when Brawl came out, but I am done done done with Smash
I think everyone should play MBAA, SF3 2I, Vanguard Princess, and Vamp Sav (just to name a few) but I’m not persuading anyone to take any of this shit seriously lol. If I get in a few sessions then I’m a happy beaver

See if anybody actually played this way then I would be good. I’ve never been able to play, even casually, without someone bitching about some such thing and going through and turning shit off.
As individuals they are generally cool people (I mean, there are some asses too but w/e), but as a crowd they suck. Whereas the marvel community for instance is just all yelling and fun! I’ll take the marvel community over the smash community any day.

There are a lot of really nice very skilled players in the smash community. Having said that, when I played smash most players where younger and immature. It seemed I just kept getting older and they kept getting younger.
Who knows now maybe all the immature kids moved to street fighter 4.
Tiggy: Yeah the community does suck, and they can be immature, but sometimes you just have to look past that. Though there are some people who are super nice.
I like playing Brawl in all sorts of ways. Sometimes I wonder why they don’t do HP battles. If you have a free for all with 3 or more players, when a character dies their body stays on the screen and it can be used as a potential weapon. So Ness can hit a corpse with his bat and send it flying and if you get hit with it you take damage. It’s pretty funny when you get KO’ed by a corspe.
Also, who says you have to play Brawl competively? Get totally wasted and play. It’s a lot of fun. just ask Neon Geon. That’s his favorite way to play. DJ you can’t get wasted, you’re a kid so ignore this part of my post.
Anyway, I didn’t mean to start an entire debate about it. If you like to play cool. If you don’t, cool. No one is twisting anyone’s arm to play or not to play.

I’ve met some really skilled and mature Smash players, don’t get me wrong; Rayzen is a Falco player I met at MWC last year in the Brawl tourney and he was hella good. He was also hella chill and had a fine ass girlfriend who also played in the tourney. But the majority of the community I can’t say the same for.
