Thanks to folks that made it out. Sorry for the folks who didn’t.
For future reference, if I invite folks over, don’t wait until Saturday to PM me. I don’t live on the internet and probably won’t be checking day of stuff. If you want to come, PM me at minimum the night before.
I’m officially playing BlazBlue now. I got to poke around with it a little bit at Avi’s last night, and then I came home, played some online matches with my other noob friends and beat arcade mode with Ragna. Looks like this week I’m going to be messing around with everybody to try to decide who to main. Sounds like the special edition DVD should help, even though it includes combos that don’t work against everybody. It should still give me a good idea of each character’s metagame is.
I totally called it back in May or whenever that more people would like BlazBlue than KOF XII. BlazBlue’s balance issues are keeping it from the top, but that game is seriously high-class.
EDIT: Also, I’m looking for a 3/32" headset extension cable for an Xbox 360 headset. I need it so I can plug a wired headset into padhacked arcade stick. Anyone know a good place to pick up a 3ft cable?
Well duh that’s why i play her. C version has no atomic elbow to get in, and i suck too much with her sweep>otg to keep messing with her. That means more cat for now!
did you just type that? you think this internet fad has many years left in it?
You never called it. KOF to me plays better, tighter balance, etc. I don’t care if you think it’s a gimped game. The online play is really what killed it in America. (for 360 anyway, it’s been nearly a month or 2 since the online patch came out for ps3, but not 360.)
Doesn’t matter how it plays, everyone knew that blazblue was going to be more successful.
More mainstream media exposure, better buzz, more GG fans already, etc.
Not to mention the KOF XII machines in arcades that were collecting dust (or in some cases were already being sold and taken off the floor) within a couple months after release.
Don’t get me wrong, I like KOF, and I was hoping it would do well. But it was the underdog to begin with.
Right, so anyway, I watched most of that BlazBlue limited edition DVD, right now I think I’m going to main Jin, with Ragna and Taokaka backup. Jin has a lot of really good moves with decent range. Standing D looks like it beats anything midscreen on reaction. B Blizzard looks like a really good anti-air. He has this nice D double slash move, an air projectile spam, and of course, the ice car. I like how he has Melty Blood-style D super versions of special moves. I think my Melty Blood game will make me better at Jin and vice versa. Anything else I should know when I try to play him?
iad crossup jumping D is jesus. oh and that anti air slash stuffs everything, good god, but i’m a hakumen player. standing D refreeze is a really great way to frustrate someone online (think oki lv3 focus).
Never mind hitstun I don’t feel like making that vid anymore, learn H-Kohaku instead, somebody else beat me to the punch with the vid:

Tiggy, what are some good combos/strats for the guy with rekkas that I play? I can’t remember his name right now. I should buy this game and just attempt to emulate it. Dunno about compatibility for this one, but the first one works. I’ll look up some vids on youtube too. Or I could hang out with bqheath and play it with him when he gets it. (he lives about 5-10 minutes away)
