i see your point i just wanted to know why no laptops were not used for brackets…you coulda easily brought a desktop in with a wireless card and went from there…just my opinion that all.
np albeit that was a hitch in the bracket at first it did all get worked out and noones feelings were hurt over any brackets that we ran
At the bathroom comments: Although I would agree with you, if you come to SB5 it gets worse…much worse. I recommend Cane’s across the street for all your biological needs.
Good tournament over all, I know all the MI people had a good time.
Thanks to all the TO’s for putting it on.
Shoutout to Pittsburgh, you guys all played really well and were cool people for sure.
I just wanted to say, next time please don’t do SSF4 last. The only reason I can think for doing this are to either make it the big “final event”, either for the stream viewers or viewers at the tourney.
If it’s for viewers at the tourney doing it at 12:30 is a bad idea cause everyone will have left.
If it’s for the stream than my question is why are you prioritizing the stream viewers’ needs over the paying players at the tourney?
Us MI guys were driving until 5 am…
plenty of hotels right around the corner…
as for laptops tonamento is not a good software YET you cannot manual seed and its more of a pain over all just like anything in the beta phase brackets have been run on pen an paper for yeas and that is just what we feel more comfortable using its much faster than haveing to run around to computers and such its just easier all around on people running brackets IE people that I trust such as my self fugee frank ect that is just what we know
i can’t believe i’m saying this, but did anyone record the umk3 finals?
lucky day recorded it all
Actually I got about the final two hours but yeah most of it. I need to cut it down and split it into matches tonight and I’ll upload.
Make sure you do not edit out the audio from the match where Rouse beat me. Please leave the video intact or if you do, make sure you send me an unedited copy. LOL
yeah man upload that raw shit while you edit. err, please and thank you.
i assure you that I can speak on nicks behalf that no one in my crew has any reason to censor anyone that just simply is not what we are about
Other “Crews” take note, you want more players at your event, emulate this dude right here. Good shit.
Like Brent said, each pool was spread across 2 sheets but it’s all 1 bracket, so in the later rounds, those sent to losers are moved to the other side of the bracket to prevent double jeopardy. As for playing your local crew, the entire bracket was seeded by region first and foremost. You have to understand that MI had 18 players in SSF4, 20% of the total, so eventually you’re going to meet up. That said, you didn’t meet up with another MI player until the 3rd round where you played Torin. It’s unfortunate that you had to play Shelton right after, but that’s just the way the cookie crumbled. No bracket is perfect, especially when there are so many walk-ins.
As for using a laptop, it could have been done (using tio), but that would have meant a much messier bracket, because we would have had to generate it on the spot after we got walk-ins. I did not want to do that, specifically because I wanted the tournament to be seeded properly. It’s a possibility that we might turn away walk-ins next time, but this time around it would’ve been a bad idea because we needed those walk-ins to pay our venue.
As for Tonamento, personally I think it’s pure dog shit and will never use it.
Yesh. I want meh $2 back. 8D
Wait wat. O_O
Who you running?
I agree. IMO it’s the Elephant in the room, not in a bad way, so I say just run it all the way til it’s done. A lot of people were there just for SSF4, so I say run it all the way then let them go if they want, or hang around for casuals.
Either way good stuff to the TO’s. And one last thing:
REPORT YOUR MATCHES DAMMIT. I was watching matches that when they were done people were just going their separate ways hoping the other guy reported it. Y’all need to both walk up there, report the match so there isn’t any false claims, there wasn’t this time, that’s more of a MWC 2010 reference, THEN go about your business.
Exactly why I always try to keep an eye on the stations I have going. If I don’t see the win happen or a telling win screen, I always confirm with both players.
i wanted to be nice about it lol
people crying about the top 8 starting late I will come right out and say it …the point of columbus Bar Battles 3 from the get go was to get people exposed to more than just sf4 so we wanted the top 8 last so people had a chance to stick around and see and play everything else it was a saturday night I never ever ever travel out of state and usally not even out of city and travel back the same day its just common sense. Get a hotel stay with a friend and drive back fresh in the am. Since the beginning tournaments have always run late. Beause people didnt want to miss the finals on the stream for sf4 they got to see really cool stuff like justin playing crazy teams in the marvel finals, sluch winning tekken, Justin winning 3s with sean…just general things people have never been exposed to before and may not have been if they were not sticking around waiting for super to start back up.
and last but not least Mi marvel crew stayed intil we closed the joint and no one single complaint ever
Ghetto Kabal
Did you play MK at the Dirty O back in the day?
I had to check where you were from to make sure we are talking about the same dirty O. LOL
I never played at the O, I actually drove by there last week and commented to my boy about not going there is the longest. The O was good for fries and 40’s back in the day.
I grew up in Bellevue/Northside, now this is old school shit right here. I remember me and my little brother would catch the bus Downton, and play UMK3 at the ACE arcade, not the one on Smithfield, but there used to be an ACE on Liberty right next to Broadway Army. The shit was a shiesty as hell hole in the wall, but it was only 1 bus and didnt have to transfer to go back out north. We were not very good, but still played. Or we played at Ross Park Mall, as well.
dun-dun-duuuuuun… really? i’m kinda relieved, losing 30 matches in a row will do that… you gotta run a few sets back with me at SB when i’m in better condition… before we bust out DOA
i hope some of you ohio players come up to michigan masters 3 next month
