I am the same. I love street fighter as much as the next guy but I have always been a kof lover. I was real salty that I drove 45min out there paid and didn’t get to play.
I had a great time at Tension Pulse 2010! Alternate was cool enough to let me commentate and I got to watch how FunkyP runs a live stream. SimpleKiss’ (GamerFruitFly) match on the hype station was funny as hell and I was glad to see him flame kickin’ barrels on Ibuki. FlyntFlossy was also holdin’ it down against that Abel player, Keyon did really well in Guilty Gear (taking 3rd), we got some good hype cam footage and let me give a BIG thanks to Eskay for driving us to ATL.
I’ll definitely try grabbing a couple of mics and a mixer for this coming tournament here @ Maddness. It makes watching streams so much better, lol.
@ Zerog/Alex: I know you guys wanted to play KOF, but the majority of people there wanted to play Super. If you guys wanna make sure that you can play KOF 100% when we have casuals, then you might wanna consider bringing your own setup for the game.
@ Thomas: I’m mad you were trollin’ me through the stream, but I got even XD Our rants helped pass the time in between matches and you guys in Cola are ridiculous. I kinda wish you could have rode with us for BBCS; I’m sure you would have placed well and there were no Bang players.
Tension Pulse was fun as hell. Samurai Champloo hype music and the usual cola trollin made that 4 (3?) hour drive seem like nothing. Of course that also might have something to do with the fact that i was traveling between 80-90 mph. The venue was pretty good, VERY spacious. And i was even entertained by some super matches. Sakura almost made me believe in that game again. My matches in blaze was also informative. I thought i was already being lame with Hazama but apparently I need to be even MORE lame than i already am. I’ll be working on that for Augusta Super.
Shout outs to Connan O’ Brian, a.k.a Gamer Wasp a.k.a “TSUBAKI!” a.k.a “we be trollin” for stepping up to that commentator box and entertaining all the “stream monsters”
@ Zerog/Alex: I’ll 2nd what Jag is saying because its pretty much the truth. The only time you’ll see us playing blaze is usually when i bring my setup with a copy. If you noticed we didnt have blaze at nashi for the last 2/3 weeks because i was too lazy to bring in the setup for it. Sadly thats just the reality of the scene. The less popular games dont get that kinda support unless the ppl that want it show up with it themselves. As a matter of fact, theres was 1 setup (PS2) for KOF2002 at Tension Pulse today because someone brought it in. But there wasnt a tourny for it at all. Random ppl where just playing random casuals and taking free supers. Super on the other hand had like 7 setups, blaze had like 3, and guilty had like 2. Ohh and Marvel had like 1…ya thats right thomas…1 setup not including the stream setup.
Anyways i need to go to youtube and learn how to be lame, ttyl…
ohh and Marylyn Monrobot…just thought i’d throw that in there.
yeah me too what the fuck
no king of fighters
this is bullshit fuck all of yall
Jaguar: I’m even more mad that you don’t realize that Kimchi was trolling more than I was! You should’ve heard some of the stuff he was saying! Ugh! lol Yes, I enjoyed the stream chat and some of the matches that happened in Super. Even if Keyon hasn’t touched GG in like a year, I am upset that he LET ME DOWN. NO BANG PLAYERS? Wait, actually that doesn’t surprise me. Word on the street is that noone in the (South) East Plays that character.I would’ve loved to go. Infact, I wish I had of gone. Even though my sister came back from Iraq that day, she ended up leaving the house to go out with some of her friends for basically the entire day. Thus, I was on the stream basically all day. Never planning shit around family members, again.
My statement for Tsubaki stands, however. Noone cares about that character.
Eskay: Keyon and I tried to tell you! You should’ve been lame from the beginning. Good to see you’re actually gaining that patience to be lame! I’d do the same… but unfortunately, the character I play nor my playstyle will allow me to be lame.
@Usagi: I dont think you understand the extent to the level of “lame” im talking about here. There were literally moments in both my matches where I would sit there spamming chains for a good 5-10sec waiting for my opponents to approach. It worked on Litchi (The Great Reptar) a few times, but Valkenhyn (Casey) was having none of it. And in both matches my opponents were more than happy to wait for me to come in and approach. Going to Valk hurt the worst because of that bullshit 2c of his that covers his entire body. I cant even cross that man up with Hazama’s j.2c without it at best trading in his favor.
The sad thing is that during these matches i had, i was clearly conscience of everything that was going on and even critiquing my performance while the match was still going on. I kept telling myself during the fights that I could easily win this if i just play the “life lead” game. And for a while i did, but then auto pilot took over and I went in, and took dmg. Either way it was a good learning experience and the trip overall was just plain fun.
Lame is lame and that’s that. Being lame is just something you’re gonna have to do, if you’re wanting that ‘W’ in the tournament scene. Hell, even if you have to be lame in casuals to prove a point, do it. You may not enjoyed it ( or maybe you do now ) but it’s apart of your arsenal. If Bang had more options to be lame, I’d do them… maybe. It’s great that you enjoyed yourself and got more experience! However… you and I need to talk.
@ Sweeternity: lol, I’m glad to see that the troll virus has spread all over Cola XD
@ UsagiPower: I guess I can never change your mind about Tsubaki, but just wait until CS2 comes out shakes fist violently
@ Eskay: Don’t even get me started about Valk’s 2C! That shit just wins against any of Tsubaki’s jump-ins :-S Hopefully, you’ll get off of that auto pilot ish soon but sometimes it can’t be helped; I’m a little guilty of it myself.
I just realized something that Juri and Tsubaki have in common with their play-styles. Both character involve me using a “charge” of some kind, in order to implement a more solid offense/defense (Tsubaki needing a charge for damage and Juri’s stored fireballs for better oki/ultra setups) Beside the fact that their both bitches, I like the semi complexity on how they need to be played. I’m starting to think that maybe that’s part of my character preference.
I’m about to start splicing up our casual matches from Friday. I’ll let you all know, when I’m done editing.
Bah! So bored. Need something to dooo. I suppose nothing is going on today?
Man, I had a lot of fun at Tension Pulse. I feel good about how I performed in the SSF4 tournament. I went 0-2 in blaz, but I didn’t honestly care, esp. since I hadn’t practiced the game at all.
I need more guile experience.
@ SimpleKiss: All of us need more match up experience against other characters and I think it might be a good idea if we turn our casuals into a critique session. Now what I mean by that is, after we get done recording a session like we did on Friday, I’ll section off sets between players and then we can have the whole thread give us feedback.
@ Thomas: If you get bored enough, I’ll sure you’ll let your Tales addiction take care of that.
@ SimpleKiss: We all need Guile exp. :db: of democracy is too strong.
@ Jaguar131: Not a bad idea but will people listen. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
BTW What system is the kof2002um tournament going to be on.
My tales addiction > Downback. Just sayin’.
I’ve finally finished making clips for about 85% of the casual matches from last Friday:
Justin.tv - SC Tourney Channel - Videos
I’ll also be uploading some of my favorite matches on my youtube page, for the sctourney blog media section. Here are a couple (from memory, lol):
UsagiPower vs Xavier
Kimchi vs AwardTour
Xavier vs Jaguar
DarkSylux vs Sweeternity
I just checked newegg and it seems like theres a sale on a an ASUS monitor for $159 with a $10 off promotion code attached. Anyone know if this model is suitable for fighting games? Cuz if so i think im gonna order it before they sell out.
EDIT: just noticed that its a 21 inch, no wonder its so cheap.
@eskay. it’s good for fighting games.
For a true HD monitor, that’s a steal. Thisis the one I’m ordering. It’s a little more expensive but it’s also True HD and I don’t mind paying the $189.99 price
@ Kimchi: I saw those Yassan vids you sent me and I’m almost an instant fan. I love how well he uses U1, utilizes frame traps and I almost flipped, when I saw him combo j.mp >dive kick while the opponent was on the ground.
LOL Hilarious.
