I’m glad to see that other people agree with Air’s view as well
I was wondering if you guys wanted to try going bowling again sometime this week? We haven’t done that in months and I wanna do something with the group that doesn’t involve video games or liquor like most of the time XD
There’s other stuff than video games and liquor? I did not know. I think I becoming addicted to anime.
I don’t believe Rufus vs Ryu is 5-5 but what do I know? I might not be at the tourney saturday cuz of work aka becuz they make up schedule with the random select button. So if I’m your normal ride, don’t count on me. If you need my monitor let me know. I think we should throw a super bowl party thoughts. I was also thinking about going to regular PAX(August 26-28th) in seattle rather than PAX east cuz I won’t have the funds to have fun by march. I might go to evo, also. I’ll try to get a gameplan soon if people are interested. As for Final Round, I guess we should get a head count on the people that want to go. I just want to leave cola as much as possible.
Not a damn thing wrong with becoming addicted to anime. Just don’t take the much darker path of fandom. I’ll have to disown you as a friend if that should ever happen.
As far as recent outings go, I may have to hold off on them - at least the bigger ones. As you all know, I plan on returning to Canada sometime in the near future and that requires quite the bit of dough. I may be able to attend final round and maybe do my second tour of Animazement coming in May, but anything past that probably isnt’ gonna happen.
In the mean time, I am just gonna stare at dustloop and figure out just why I am hating so much on my own character choice as of late.
I don’t really need to be shown what to do, just a couple of combos and a few “these are good and here’s why.” I was going to try and get back into the game when CS came out, but when I got to play it it felt like the same song and dance with characters switching places on the tier list. Plus everytime I get hype for a character, that’s a good sign the nerf stick is coming or they’re going to be so overpowered that even that blind kid that plays MK can see it.
I’ve got a bad feeling AE is going to be the same way.
Ben: When can I get those shorts back sweetcheeks?
Hellllooooo, one of the organizers for Final Round right here? If you guys want to do a raffle to get the winner free entry to FR you’ll have to have the winner register on the main website and still use a PayPal payment to cover the registration. Remember that any event that FR backs, that event becomes a direct representation of FR! We’re still trying to get some help for the big one ourselves
Once again, it’s just unfortunate that noone has put in the time in those characters you listed within our community. Tsu has all of the Valkenhayn experience and us here in Columbia can only go off of that one day of match up experience we’ve had against it. It wouldn’t be much to tell, either, other than to respect 2c. That move that has head invincibility and from what I’ve seen, can also hit behind himself. I’m going to be messing around with him today, because I’ve also thought of picking him up, but until I can make my own observations, anything that I say about the character can be ignored.
In the case of tiers, isn’t it gonna be like that in most every new aged fighting game? Characters get buffed/nerfed in order to make some type of ’ balancing system. ’ In the case of Blazblue, however, I cannot say much, since I have absolutely zero Calamity Trigger experience. As far as the buffing and nerfing goes, should that really effect your character choice? Overpowered or not, if you like the character, you like the character. Win/Loss ratio shouldn’t matter. * Eyes David. *
As for me, the reasons why I thought about switching my character choice is because I feel that Bang has ruined how BB should be played for me. I love him as a character, but admittedly, there is so much … wrong about him to the point where I am downright spoiled. Main Reason: His 5A being the only jab that hits crouching opponents. I cannot stress enough on how much this has ruined playing other characters for me.
Out of the ones you mentioned, Makoto is better in the next game and plays mostly the same, Valk got a damage nerf (was needed, he still hits really hard) but still plays 99% the way he does now and he’s still really good. Tsubaki got changed up some but she’s much better for it. The jury is kinda still out on Plat b/c she’s new, i think she looks pretty solid.
Valk 5a can wiff up close on standing Bang (probably carl too)
Thomas: Yes and no. I can’t quite put it into words, but the “feel” between CT & CS is nowhere near as drastic as the “feel” between Vanilla & Super imo. Super feels like an overhauled Vanilla while CS felt like CT after switching characters around on the tier list. This is all in my opinion, of course.
As far as tiers and their influence on character choices, lol. I’ve played Marduk in the last 5 Tekken games. He has been lower mid in all except for DR, to which he was mid. I still pick him because, despite how much I might complain about how bad he is, he is can still compete to an extent. However, in CS, the gap between Bang and Rachel is absurd. When the tiers play less of a role in the game itself, then they’ll play less of a role in my decision making. That’s the way I approach it at least. If the tiers and system are close enough to where I don’t have to worry about (m)any 8-2 or 7-3 match-ups, then I go off of aesthetics & play style. BlazBlue has yet to show me that they can break away from the restraints of the tier list though, and until they prove otherwise, I’m going to assume that it will continuum (PUNNY!).
Tsu: Appreciated. Would you be able to go into a little bit more detail on why/how Valk is essentially the same and Makoto+Tsubaki improved? I actually enjoyed playing Makoto even though her sprite was hideous D:
Oh! And Thomas: That’s what you get for having a one-button auto-guard overhead that you can combo off of D:<
@icege, when it comes to the feel for the game, much time spent is needed with the game to be able to recognize the changes in the game. For me, I recently (finally ) am getting into game and have been playing it for 3-4 weeks nonstop. It took me a while for the game to finally click. And right now, it’s my new favorite game atm.
When it comes to finding your character, when it comes to this game, in my opinion, it will take a good 2 weeks of really seriously sitting down and playing the game for you to get into your character. I just think thats how this game is. Rachel might be the worst character in the game but that doesnt me she is not viable. She did make 5th at NEC i think.
@Icege: In CS2 a lot of the characters BnB’s where changed to the point where they’re no longer viable. (most of the cast have to do their dmg in the corner now) Valk is probably 1 out of 2 maybe 3 characters exempt from this change. His 2 most notable changes are that some of his moves got an overall dmg nerf and that his gdlk 2c got lost its head invuln. Outside of that he plays relativly the same.
Makato moves/normals now have a faster start up and her dmg got tweaked in some areas. I believe she’s also one of the characters that can still do decent dmg from mid-screen unlike the rest of the cast in CS2 now.
Tsubaki had a few tweaks here and there but her most (and probably only) notable change is that here Drive Charge isnt garbage anymore. The whole reason why she’s considered low tier is because in order for her to dish out her dmg she needs charges. Currently, working to get those charges is time consuming.
Overall CS2 will be a slightly diffrent game becasue a large majority of the cast will be looking to get their opponents to the corner to dish out most of their dmg. Only a couple can actually deal any form of respectable dmg midscreen.
Well I can’t really complain about the tier list much on CT or CS since I did play bottom 4 in CT (Still won) and I beat people with random characters in CS without actually practicing. (Still wont change my opinion of the game). All I can really say is play the game for about a week or 2 (And actually try). If you don’t like it afterwards then thats just fine.
@Icege: I actually agree with you in regard to how SSFIV and BBCS feel tier wise. It’s the one of the main reasons why I’m playing SSFIV seriously again, besides the fact that I genuinely enjoy playing BBCS casually more than in a tournament.
@AwardTour: I like the idea of a Super Bowl Party and toning down/eliminating the liquor. There’s no need for us to buy expensive shit, when you can save money and still have fun. I feel like most of us have spent a retarded amount of money on alcohol, which could be saved or used for some thing else. I’ll also have to see about PAX in August.
Oh shit guys. Today I was going back to watch old CT videos for entertainment purposes… Guess what I found? A Tenshi vs Arakune (Tenshi is one of the best japanese hakumen players.)
Im fine with whatever you all want to do to determine who will get 4 out of the 5 spots…with that said, i think its a no-brainer that i should just be awarded the 5th spot…ive proven where i stand numerous times, both locally and outta state, so im using that as my free pass…if anyone objects…give a good reason as to why…
