Columbia,SC: Going in Strong

It’s not just you. Ever since I switched from rog to more execution based, harder to play characters, whenever I play the ps3 version I have troubles executing combos that I never have on 360 or in the arcade the few times I played there. I read on Justin Wongs site recently where he said most top players prefer 360 bc it seems more arcade perfect. The only advantage to using ps3 in tourneys is for pad players, and hooking up different controllers is easier.

Oh, and Ill be at final round fo sho!

Gonna try to make it to Final Round. I’m going to be eating up all my vacation time for Christmas though, and I’m not sure I want to go without a day or two off for the weekend.

i am looking at january for the next gvegas beatdown, any dates that are taken that i shouldnt look at? It will be on a saturday.

Columbia is having our ranbat on Jan 2 (which I will be missing because I’ll be in Missouri visiting the people that conceived me.)

I’d say mid January would be a good date.

hey are we still doing the casuals for this Saturday (Dec 5th) I actually have it off so looking for someone to game with before finals the following week oh yeah does anyone have any tips for a brand new ragna and jin user in blazeblue and how do I pull of jin’s astral finish, I can do ragnas but I dont know how to do his.

Oh if yes do I need to bring anything. I can supply a 360 and a ps3 but not any tvs as well as street fighter for 360, tekken for ps3, and blazblue for ps3

You might not be able to do his because you might simply not have it unlocked. You have to beat arcade mode with the character to unlock their Astral; only Ragna and V-13 come with their Astrals out of the box.

Either way, Astrals are 99% useless. Ragna is a High Risk/High Reward rushdown type character. He has a lot of unsafe moves but some great pressure tools. I think it’s his 5b? I think? That has good priority from close-to-mid range. Learn to Rapid Cancel (pressing A+B+C during an attack, and it takes 50% meter) his Infernal Dividers (his dragon punch.)

In low level play it’s a good fishing technique when you have meter to burn and are applying pressure. That’s just some real basic stuff though, and I’m not the Ragna player. That’s Xavier’s field.

Ragna’s 6A has specific Anti-Air properties that will beat out most jump-ins when properly timed (most characters’ 6A accomplishes this.) When in the air, some moves (Like Dragon Punches and 6A’s) need to be barrier guarded or instant blocked to deflect.

You may notice some exclemation marks when you get hit. the color determines your mistake:

If it’s yellow - Shoulda blocked low

If it’s red - Shoulda blocked high

If it’s blue/aqua - Should’ve Barrier guarded/Instant blocked

Instant blocking in this game is kind of a poor man’s parry. if you press back within 8 frames of an incoming attack you get instant block (you flash white.)

Instant blocking is OP, so practice it. even if you lose some online matches doing it, it’s invaluable. When you instant block it immensely reduces block stun, so most safe things are no longer safe. Instant blocking also gives you meter, so it’s always beneficial to do so. Against V-13, when she does her gatling laser sword super thing, you can just casually tap back on your stick/pad and get fed lots of free meter.

In general, never burst until you’re about to die.

Your mom sucks kevin.

Josh, wonderful, join the fatty club.

8 frame instant block is dumb.

Who got that best Tekken, SFIV, and Guilty in the state? Team Gibson.

Most defintely! :bgrin:

Sure, I don’t see why not. But with this being our first season, I think we were just gonna do two games anyway. And it was probably gonna be SF4 and Tekken anyway. So it’s all good!

Agreed. Yeah as it gets closer to Jan. 2, we’ll starting discussing in more detail how we’re gonna work everything out. But definitely be thinking of some possibilities for the entry and prize fund so we can have more options to decide on.

No problem man. Hopefully this will turn out to be a great thing for everyone who wants to be apart of it.

It definitely was an incredible movie! I was lovin me some Ryuzo! :lovin:

Yep no doubt.

Haven’t heard anything from anyone else about it. If enough people are interested, then I’ll go ahead and reserve the place.

so the ranbats will be held jan. 2?? and are all the tournies held in the same place or is it more random??

Hi Tekk: does that mean no Blazblue? it almost seems like Cola has more BB players than SF players.

Lucky’s New Year Tournament - Greensboro, NC - January 9th, 2010 - T6|SF4|MB|BB|AC|3S!!!

We’re also having a poll for an additional tournament. Get hype!

okay well if anyone wants to have casuals on saturday post you are comin or message hi-tekk. oh hi-tekk I will definetly come like I posted earlier I got systems but no tvs so talk to gackman bout that one, oh it would be awsome to do some older stuff like retrogaming example being rival schools for dreamcast kof for ps2, or soul calibur stuff like that.

As of right now, we’re planning on having all of the first season of ranbats at the new location we found. And as far as regular tournaments, we could use the same location as the ranbats, we would just have to talk about it. But if you think about it, the ranbats kinda fill that role of tournament but its just more of a “ongoing” type of thing.

Really? Hmmm, we won’t rule it out I guess but we’ll just have to just talk about it and go from there. From what I’ve seen in previous tournament results, it seems like the player base is larger for SF4 than Blazblue. But it’ll definitely be looked into.

Ok.

We Must have Blazblue! WE MUST!

:3

If there’s only going to be 2 games, they should definitely be SF4 and T6. If any game has more players than sf here, it’s t6. I still think most everyone plays SF though. I probably can’t make it out this Saturday if u get the place, but I might be free for Friday casuals this week.

Ok January 16th will be the date for Gvegas i am going to list it tommorow but mark it off on your calendars now.

See I was lookin, feelin, like a million bucks.

  1. Super street fighter 4 not using GGPO seems oddly redundant.

I sense an awesome mediocrity. :o

We definitely have more SF4 players… though we do have KJ. I doubt the majority of BB players will support a ranbat. Majority of us are still in school so it is hard for us to commit to an ongoing event. If it is selected to be in the ranbats then most of the time it won’t have but 2 or 3 people. Unless this ranbat was free and for just ranking purposes, more of us will be more interested since less on the line if we miss one event.

(I am impressed)
Cuz I was fresh… dressed… like a million buck!!!

YO! TURN IT UP!
TURN IT UP
Y’ALL GOTTA TURN IT UP
DO LIKE I DO
