Columbia,SC: Going in Strong

First, you need to use proper pronunciation and grammar while writing a post. Periods ftw. Second If you main that character you should learn all the tools that character can use. Example with Rufus, His offense comes from dive kick because his poke kinda suck. I learn to use to the dive kick for mixup, fakeout, and shenanigans. Referring to Sagat, he just an great character because he has all the options. He can zone with fireball and anti-air with f.roundhouse and tiger uppercut. he can kara his special moves and ultra. He can combo his ultra more than Rufus(enough said). Sagat is just a well-made character but his not unbeatable. he is not Arkune. Against Sagat and just playing SF4 in general. patience is a must. Trying to wait against your opponent makes a mistake and land a fat ass combo on them. Then they will think twice about that move again. Fighting games in general are mind games. Once you get inside your opponent head, you already won. Go to the Akuma thread in the SF4 forum and read up on your character:

For Tekken ask Lei Hates, Tak, 12:51 but also look at these:

This is a nice video series showing you basics about Tekken 6:

This is Tekken Zaibatsu which is similar to srk except it is for Tekken. Here is the link for the Jin Kazama Thread:

I’m done talking for right now.

sorry about the punctuation right in the middle of me posting that I realized I needed to hurry up and do something. Its gonna be awhile before I post again so if any casuals or anyone wants to hit me up online just send a message to my tags on my avatar, about what game and when. (tekken on ps3, and sf4 on 360) and blazeblue for ps3

oh just posting this to show someone destroying bang in blazeblue

In other news, A hakumen player placed first in the tournament for CS this weekend to celebrate the arcade release.

S-Tier, here I come. :smokin:

Aight fellas,

here is some more news about the Ranbats at the new location that I talked about last week. Avatar and I talked about starting Columbia’s RanBat Season 1 on January 2nd (which is a Saturday). He’s going to make a post about it on the SC blog to give more exposure for our first season. We haven’t decided on what time to have it on the 2nd but we figure that what better way to start off your new year than placing first in Columbia’s first ever RanBat! :bgrin: Anyway, Since we have about five weeks before this goes down, we have time to talk about the point system (which I’ll briefly mention), spread the word and gather setups. So there you have it. For those of you who are wondering a little bit more about RanBats, just look below. I pulled this from the Denjin Arcade (located in Southern Cal) website.

**What is a Ranking Battle season?**A Ranking Battle season, or “Ranbat” season, is a series of tournaments where the top placers accumulate points in addition to the prize money in the tournament. Whoever has the cumulative highest amount of points at the end of the Ranking Battle season is the Ranking Battle season champion.

How do you enter a Ranking Battle?
Simply show up to on any of the dates of the Ranking Battle season to enter that particular Ranbat. You can enter as many or as few as you’d like.

Rules
?Tournament format is singles
?Each match in the tournament is a 2/3 game set
?Double Elimination
?In SF4 - Character switch ok but player cannot change mid 2/3 game set until they lose 1 game

Points
1st (10 points)
2nd (7 points)
3rd (5 Points)
4th (3 Points)
5th (2 Points)
7th (1 Point)

So with that being how Socal does it, what would you guys like to see with our RanBats here in Columbia? How many RanBats in a season do you wanna to have? How often would you guys like to meet? Would it be every two weeks? Three or Four? Discuss, the more feedback the better.

It sounds like you need to take a dive into the basics. I highly recommend you watching that whole Tekken Basics youtube thing that AwardTour posted - the whole five or so parts. After that, ahead over the Tekkenzaibatsu - which AwardTour posted - and dig in. Try not to get cocky and go for anything fancy you hear and see, just work on basics like poking and punishing and work your way up to juggles and etc. A lot of people want to learn juggles first and get right into it, but I think new players need to start at poking, movement, and punishing. With Jin, you can sit there and poke new players - and even veterans - for days and win. He’s got great mids. As you improve, you can work the fancy stuff in, but just keep things simple and you’ll do fine.

And to answer your question, it doesn’t hurt to know his movelists, but make sure you know the ones that you need to know first, like his pokes and low/high crushers. Those are the bread-and-butter of your game.

Follow these tips and you’ll be smashing your friend in no time. Hopefully.

The rules and points system that socal uses is fine. We should have it every two weeks and have six ranbats. What is going to be the entry fee? 5 dollars might be a good starting point and maybe a 2 dollar door fee. I would love for our ranbats to be recorded in some shape. Maybe when we go to the Augusta tournament we ask that one guy what he use to record matches. I guess we would do this ranbat and the next one will be for Super Street Fighter 4.:lovin:

I have been under the net-less rock for 2 weeks…The Light of Hype shine upon meh!

What’s going on peoplest?!

Needs more Dudley.

^^^ OH SNAP

I was never good with Guy in Alpha, but things could be different in SF4. It would be nice to have Dudley in SSF4. I wonder if they’ll add Gill into the game

Tekken.

Cody, Guy, and Adon have been announce. so far the rumor list has been right (3s character named last). just saying. I might trying all the new characters when the game comes out except for T.Hawk(cheating native american mofo).

patch for Tekken 6 coming on Thanksgiving.

(yes i’m pimping the site. I write for it lol. FuriousRGD=me)

First off, any new SSF info always makes me pee a little, but this today just made me drop a seismic load in my pants. I knew they were all but confirmed, but just seeing the screenshots made me giddy. Can’t wait for the 3S characters to be revealed.

Secondly, I posted this on the IPW forums earlier last week, but MAD props to you on the IPW updates Rodney. That site is the most constantly updated as far as news goes, and it’s mostly due to your posts. I dunno how you do it, but keep it up ya madman!! I know Haunts, Coopa and the rest of the IPW guys really really appreciate your work too.

Oh boy thanksgiving break again this is gonna be rough this year for us retail workers so I probably wont be on that much this weekend and then next week is prep for finals god moving to fast but during this week will be trying to find time to game so just putting this out there about me finally getting blazeblue and playing that to practice so looking for someone to game with in it as well as tekken 6 on my ps3. I will not be doing anything tomarrow (Nov 24, wensday) work wise and will be mostly free thursday thanksgiving. Friday definetly not free and saturday I will be free after work. The only thing that I am putting out there is that I do not have a mike for my ps3 and my street fighter 4 is on my 360 so if you want to play on any of those just send me a message on the psn or xbox live you can get my tags right below my avatar. Hopefully will get to game with you guys in person soon.

With all the SSF4 stuff coming out, I am tempted to get rid of the current game and just hold out till march

Street Fighter 4 should not be the only game where you are only allowed to switch character on loss.

Something else you want to discuss is entry and prize fund.

They want you to keep the original i guess because they’re putting in something for those who already have SF4 dont have a clue what it is, probably costume unlocks or something.

Guy’s Ultra looks sweet and plus he got Nike Dunks on. Also, Dee Jay has a Jamaican accent. ALRIGHT!

Damn this demo is sweet. Cody and guy look awesome, but I call dibs on Adon. Looks like he can combo jumping mk into jaguar kick c viper style and his ex jaguar tooth looks like it juggles. Rushdown central!
