Awesome news, and awesome work Av and Hi Tekk. I’m down for any weekend, just lemme know when. I know I’ll definitely be going to Augusta for their tourney on the 12th though…anyone wanna ride out with me?

The more sessions the better, I got the life beaten outta me by Xavier last Friday, but I feel it’s made me a better player in the end. Still learnin that yoga, and taking ridiculous damage in doing so. I think I will actually have to pull out Balrog for the Rufus matchup though…its seriously 8-2. Hi-Tekk and Avater2: I’m kinda upset, I been searching for a place since final round last year and never came across something that affordable. But still Good Job on the find. I got a couple TV’s and still collecting more, tho I doubt I’ll be able to make any meetings on SAT in December. My son can pick them up and bring them if needed. In case anyone wants good deals on electronics hit up the Government Surplus Warehouse. Got a 32 inch(I think) for 18 dollars.

GG’s just now Dwaine. You caught me in one of the rare occasions that I’m actually playing noobs in Championship Mode. I hate that garbage, and somehow we play each other lol. Anyways, good matches…aside from the fact that online I absolutely cannot AA you with super on reaction which takes a big part of my mind games away when I have full meter. It was hard enough getting adjusted to the online timing to hit you with the IAT bnbxxsuper combo the few times I did. I was tryin some real stupid crap near the end there too just to see if it worked against rog lol. Man I hate online, but what’s a player to do when his favorite game involves playing against other people and I have no live competition in front of me? Ramble Ramble Ramble…bedtime…

Aight fellas,

about a week ago I mentioned that I had some good news to share with you all. Here’s the deal: I found us a location to have Ranking Battles (RanBats) and tournaments! This place is pretty cheap (8 hours for $30) and is in a central part of Columbia! The place that I’m referring to is an old elementary school that has been converted into a Cultural Arts Center. It’s a great place that we can use to continue building the scene here in Columbia, level up our games while have a CONSISTENT location! :tup:

After Avatar and I went by to check the place out today, it really seems to be a pretty solid spot to start playing at. It has good parking and the room that we would use is big enough for us to have 7 to 8 set ups if we were able to find that many TV’s! The only thing about this location is that we would have to play on Saturdays from like 11am to 5pm. Because they close at 9pm throughout the week and on Saturdays they are open from 9am to 5pm. Basically what the lady told me was you pay $15 for every 4 hours. So for the whole day it would be $30 (but I know no one would want to get there at 9am so that’s why I said 11am). I was thinking about having our first session on either December 5th or Jan 2nd (or later). Here’s why:

Nov 21 - Impact Clash
Nov 28 - Thanksgiving Weekend (we could try something if enough were interested)
Dec 5 - Open
Dec 12 - Augusta has a tournament
Dec 19 - Myrtle Beach has a tournament
Dec 26 - Christmas Weekend
Jan 2 - Open

So just let me know what you all would think about this spot and which date we could all get together and play! I will say this because of the fee, everyone that came would have to bring 2 - 3 dollars to cover the cost of renting the room. Because more than likely, I would cover the cost of fronting the money (but would definitely love to have a rotation or something).

thats awsome in my, I have wanted to have the gaming scene in columbia increase and helped to help set up some tournaments at different places to try to do so (but have absolutly no idea how to actually run functioning ones for money) truth be told I rather game for fun than money uh sorry to go on a tangent still looking for a casual on friday and saturday, not doing anything during thanksgiving break so if anyone wants to do any casuals uh email me at Zerog65@gmail.com more likely to check that.

lol GGs Rufus vs Sim being 8-2 work hard you’ll make it 7-3. I was online like all day. I played ssj george bush with his gdlk gief(he made it seem like Rufus vs gief was 8-2). Was radomely online and saw you on championship mode. I couldn’t talk cuz I using the dual mod stick which doesn’t have the mic input for 360. call me if your having company friday.

Yeah the place use to be Sarah Nance Elementary School. But now its called Booker Washington Cultural Art Center and is located off of W.Beltline Blvd. on Grant St. The address is:

Yeah I’m definitely down with going to Augusta with ya. I just have to double check a couple of things before I completely commit.

the only reason I thought about this place is because my church does a toy drive at that location every year so when we were talking about the toy drive again for this year, I just thought why not check it out? But I feel your pain man in terms of trying to find a suitable spot for us to all play consistently at. I just hope everyone feels good about this location. I’ll tell you this, it’s a lot better than nothing.

that sounds really cool if you do reserve it for this Saturday being the 21st of November please post by friday so we can know if it is going to happen or not and is it going to be the whole 8 hrs which means we need to bring 2-5 bucks also do we need to bring any systems or games or televisions I have no problem bringing my ps3 or 360 if need be and if you need either I can bring my tekken 6(ps3) or my street fighter 4(360)

SGX - I am totally cool with that…the only thing though is that so far it’s Me, Xavier and Hi-Tekk…so there would be 3 ppl in the backseat of my 2 door Accord. It’s up to you guys though…I’m drivin so I know I got space :P. Plus, its a very short drive from Columbia. The only other thing that would come into play is if Sarah decides she wants to come, obviously I’d have to make room for her…but that’s doubtful. Oh, and I may try to make it out to the Myrtle tourney but only if someone else is driving since I’ll be driving to Augusta on the 12th and up to OH for Christmas this year. Driving sucks a deep fried one.

I’m down for holding a session at this new venue this weekend, so there’s my vote.

We’re going to have a tournament here sometime in December it’s looking. There’s a Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 tournament on the 22nd at the same Play N Trade. $10 entry, $100 grand prize I think. $50 for second place.

Just wanted to chime in that the venue Hi-Tekk found seems awesome. $30 for like 5 or so hours. The room is big enough to actually have LEGIT tourneys, not just what we were looking for (a space where we can just do casuals/ranbats). Also, when we outgrow that room, just down the hall is the cafeteria area which is PERFECT for a major tourney. It even has a stage, speaker systems, and so forth!

The place is centrally located, they close in early evening so we would have to do tourneys before dark (which is great for many reasons. feels safer, leaves your evening open, etc). Lots of parking, the price is great (just think, $30 for 5 hours. Even if 10 peeps show up, that’s just $3 each).

However, I think Columbia’s tourney-throwing ability is really limited by one thing: TVs. We need a kind of inventory of who can bring what kind of TV to any one event so that we can plan. Right now we have a venue. We have tons of PS3s, games, controllers, joysticks, laptops, etc. What we need to complete setups are tourney TVs.

So, who has TVs they can/are willing to bring to tourneys?

I’ll start off:

-24" monitor (with same specs as Asus “Evo” monitor used in Evo 2009, only slightly larger). My secondary purpose for buying this monitor was for tourneys, so I’ll happily bring this to any tourney it’s needed.

-32" CRT monitor. Awesome picture, but heavy, since it’s a CRT monitor. I’ll bring it to more major events, but not to every event due to its weight.

BTW I want to go to the Augusta tourney. If we have to work out two vehicles that’s cool. Just remember I drove to the last one lol.

Oh yeah I forgot about that. There’s a McDonald’s and Burger King a few blocks down. And then a Wendy’s about a mile down from the Cultural Center.

Rufus is tough for Sim = FACT :P. Abel, on the other hand, I have way more options against. The wheel kick is my biggest threat, it can go over fire and hit limbs too, so I have to be way more patient against him. Basically, play even safer that usual, which is still way too safe lol.

As far as Tekken, I’m playing Bruce, but I haven’t touched Tekken in a few weeks due to online sucking a deep fried cock and not having any real life comp to play on a consistent basis. Plus, SF will always be my game of choice. When you gonna make your way out here dude?
