The White Mage has a higher speed stat than almost all of the humanoid enemies you encounter in the storyline battles. What you can do is get a Calculator, learn divisible by 3 and Charge Time (or however Math Skill works), then turn the Calculator back into a White Mage. The White Mage moves right before the enemies most of the time, and they’ll have Charge Time 99 or 66 depending on their speed stat. Math Skill, Holy, Charge Time divisible by 3. If you don’t mind the White Mage hogging all of the experience and hitting level 99 way before anyone else, you now have an instant win button you can press at the beginning of most of the encounters.
I love FFT, but it’s one of those games I can only enjoy by completely sploiting to death.
edit: also it kills/severely hurts half of your party when it does this, but you should be one-shotting the enemies so it doesn’t matter.

I think the game looks nice visually, but gameplay-wise (without playing it, mind you) it looks like pure garbage. Maybe my mind will change when it actually gets released, I dunno.

Actually the TRF tournament videos look much, much better. There’s a lot of distance fighting and people are occasionally doing combos that aren’t just A B C rekka kens.
I really like the Jin vids in this video for example. I could see switching from GG to this, barring any stupid developments.
I still think the stupid character designs are stupid and dumb. Everybody’s either super-generic like Jin, Rachel or Ragna or “wacky” in a really boring, calculated way. And then there’s Tager, what the fuck were they on.

Blaz blu looks ok i guess? Is it me or does one of the characters look JUST LIKE galford from SS? It’s kinda ironic that the gameplay/combos look kinda “chunky,” like the MB and AH games… the 2 games that “want-to-be” GG? I know BB isn’t GG, but it is at least made by ARC systems right?
Isn’t that shit retarded? I’m pretty sure there are like five other ninjas in fighting games with that same stereotypical stance (off the top of my head, Raven from T5).
This is what kills me though, Arc Systems goes from making games with really unique characters like Venom and Millia (and IMO the Battle Fantasia cast) to this game, which has a goofy character made out of goo with a floaty airdash (Twelve), Taokaka who looks like she’s from a Squaresoft game or something, and then a bunch of super-stereotypical anime bullshit (white-haired badass, blonde prettyboy, gothic lolita girl, Chinese girl). Don’t get me wrong GG has boring shit like Jam and Ky too but I don’t think it’s anywhere near the snorefest that BB is.
I don’t think AH is really that similar to GG. It could very well be that they set out to make a GG ripoff when they made it but the fundamentals are so different from GG I think it gets off okay. MB has no excuse.
I know what you mean though, it’s like the hitstop on all the normals is ultra-long, the attack animations and hitstun animations are just kinda ugly… it doesn’t look as nice as Guilty Gear. Except that, you know, the sprite and background detail really is super-high. I’ve seen this game in person.
If you read up on the subsystems though and make sure to check out the right vids (where people aren’t just picking Ragna, Tager and Rachel over the fuck over again) it looks like it’s got a lot of potential. Even with the apparently boring characters you can see some really cool stuff forming if you watch the right players. I’m sick of GG, so maybe this is what I need.
I’ll give BB it’s shot, but im gonna have to play it hands on. I just don’t see the mixup okizeme game there from GG forming…and to me that is a must have in a fighter anymore. I had hella fun in HD remix today, i am LOVING cammy in this game, she is so tight.
The bit of solace i take in BB is that even if it’s bad, at least we still have GG one way or another…though AC still doesn’t really do it for me like slash did.

I think I’m gonna try, like, every character in the game when I get back. It’s not that Bridget’s bad, it’s that I need a new perspective on tactics and everything.

Paul - usb adapters… remember? I tried at yer crib a long time ago on tekken 5. Not really the arcade part of the gun, just the psx pads inside. My adapters are kinda weird though, I tried them at Ben’s house w/ the namco(mad catz) and green button stick(mad catz). It maps: X and O are swapped, square and tri. are swapped, r1 and r2 swap, l1 and l2 swap, and start and select don’t seem to work? It still works though for playing the actual fighting part just fine. Maybe i should find some better adapters when i buy a ps3. BTW did u know u can just DL all the games for free from someone who has already DLed them? that’s crazy. You think they would have an ip check or something, IDK. They’re basically 5 back up DLs in case ur HDD crashes? According to eric SONY actually encouraged people to share their DLs???
I’ve played a little hdr over at my bro’s house. It’s good, it definitely has it’s art/animation issues(boxer crouch, guile sonic). all the new “toys”/changes are sooooooo much fun, i’m totally digging it. Hit box mode is totally worth the price.
Andrew - i was talking more about the hit stop and combo fluidity like u mentioned. GG looks much better than BB/MB/AH in that department. One really cool thing about BB is the color selection when u pick a char. Someone finally did this… YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYY!!!11!!!1!

I started trying to one-credit Ninja Gaiden a few days ago (it’s not really practical to go out on weekday nights since I have so much homework). It’s looking a lot easier than I was expecting, the game’s basically a complete joke until level 6 which is a huge memorization fest. I could probably get it done within the week, but we’re coming up on finals week so theoretically I should be studying like crazy. We’ll see.
What are some other games I need to be trying to one-credit/one-life Josh, is Rygar worth it or did you just want me to play it for that song
Rygar should be played through at least once. Are u playing on a real NES or virtual console? If ur playing on emu u should check out ubernes. it has a database for high scores and SPEED RUNS!!! I got #1 on CV3 and excitebike. Some guy beat ninja gaiden II in 16 mins.

they have the top scores on the site and are updated regularly through the database u can access through the emu. Yes,a lot of the scores are 999999990 etc, if the game allows it. The games i was trying to get high scores on were popeye, elavator action, and others that aren’t those “max out” scores(no DJ). I was working on a speed run for bionic commando back in august, but i gave up. too tuff
GG’s yesterday paul/aaron. I’m slowly learning how to not suck at ST. Game is so fun though, i think i may have finally found a game i can actually enter a tourney in besides guilty, hooray!
