I thought that was mostly due to hardware complications with running GG unless it was at your place (not that I’ve been stalking you guys and reading your thread since way back in the day or anything). Am I wrong?
MU clubs don’t get all that much in the way of funding from the school (neither do UIUC I’m sure). We’d be permitted to charge dues, but I don’t know what I think about that. We’d have to charge a lot and get a ton of members to get any kind of equipment for the club, and MU has a no cash prize policy – there are a lot of ways to worm your way around that one though.
I wonder if our broader scope would help us with the “usual suspects” syndrome though… as I understand it, you guys are pretty specifically into 2D fighting games in the Illini Dragon Punchers, right? Did you ever try running Mario Kart and shit? Do you have any advice for stuff like this?

I have work. Are you still on for Evo? We have more people rooming with us, two GG players whom I know to be reliable people, so we’d be splitting nine ways, it comes out to about $190 each for the entire stay (they put the screws to us for Thursday, $299). PM me.
$190 sounds good. A lot better than the $250 I was planning to spend for room and board. I’ll probably have to get Amtrak though- bills are still kicking my ass.
I’ll give you half of my share Saturday night as a show of good faith, as well as to make sure I don’t blow it on some random Astro City cab or something.

our school’s club would be really lame if it wasn’t for me.
also, make sure not to make your organization seem intimidating to newcomers. you wanna keep things real, but you want it to be accessible for casuals gamers (who all have potentials to be serious fighting game player) as well. if some people wanna play soul calibur, let them be. gradually introduce them to other games.
our prez, er… “chairman jerry” handled things in a certain way in beginning of last year which totally backfired on all of us.

Shekeib – I think the earliest we can put in a petition to start the club is after the start of the semester. I may be going part-time this semester so that’s potentially one signature down. BY THE WAY. I think we should push the tournament back to like… at least 3:30 or 4:00. I don’t have to be there right away when it starts, I get off work at 4:00 – you can just delay my matches or DQ me, as far as I know the only problem with this is that Paul will be on the clock. I bet Drew can’t make it until late and I know NKI and fracKtured can get there whenever it’s possible, so maybe we can run MVC2 first? What do you think?

Andrew, we could start MVC2 earlier, its pretty much up to the players, then we could start Slash. Its just that I don’t know if all the MVC2 players will be here by 3 or 4 and I kinda don’t wanna change it now since its tomorrow and It’d be on a really short notice.
I think it’d be best to just start at the time we planned on in the thread because people kinda complained that this whole tournament was on short notice so changing the times of the tournament the day before the tournament probably isn’t such a good idea. I also think that if MVC2 is last, it may have more entries since everyone will allready be there. If its the first tournament then I kinda feel like there wont be many people there to play it.

Well, we’re about fighting games in general, not just 2D. There’s a seperate club that is supposed to do other sorts of video games, like Mario Kart and such, but we don’t overlap at all.
EDIT: ANDREW!!! If Aaron didn’t tell you, PLEASE bring the controller cord from your dead HRAP back to STL with you. My dog ate mine, so unless I get another one, my stick is done!

Andrew, I looked through that set of vids and I couldn’t find any Anji vs Anji matches… sorry, I really wanted to get some of those recorded but I didn’t really know about it, plus that capture thing sucks, I’m gonna try to find another program…I’ll put some cool vids up on you tube in a bit, I won’t edit them (put the names in em and shit) cause It always makes the file Stupid big and lower quality…I’ll get that shit done tomorrow…
Me and sho still need another person for our Slash team at evo… Aaron said something about a guy who lived in seattle but I couldn’t find the seattle thread so if anyone could help me out with that, it’d be appreciated.
