Fairly harsh but I don’t disagree with you. Jumping to conclusions is pointless and these buffs sound more incremental than anything truly new or useful for Cody. I’ll be outta this thread for now, and just wait until we see something real.
I think he’s in that sweet spot that Ryu always had. He’s one tier below the top, but his gameplay is extremely solid to allow for the best player to win solely on footsies and reads. I think he’s second only to Ryu in safe jumps and option selects.
In other words, he doesn’t have anything abusable, but has room for very solid play.
That’s cool. I think he’s more like bottom-mid tier but whatever. Hope his walk speed improves his currently medeocre footsies.
If he gets a Juri like walkspeed increase will you still be happy? You did know Juri got a walkspeed buff yeah…? It was nice but wasn’t as much as people expected…
We’ll see. I’d of profered a properly airborne fwd-HK and a FADC’able normal bingo.
Everybody you see posting here has been posting around here and actively taking part since we started the balance changes discussion/poll. Haven’t seen you around here before though.
I’m liking this new buff we just got (j.LP active for 10 frames). It already was a fantastic air-to-air leading to a cross under mix-up. Now it just got a little better! Makes fighting air-to-air battles a little easier
I found myself excited when I read the changes. Very excited. Then, I was a little disappointed when I noticed no hurtbox adjustments for crack kick. However, I suppose if his walk speed buff is enough, then that move will become much less important for advancing on people, so I guess I’ll just have to wait and see…and pray.
Obviously it’s going to be speculation until the patch is in place but from what I’m gathering looking at everyone elses changes; they are trying to keep every character at this level. More than anything, I think the walkspeed and badspray buffs just make Cody a more competitive matchup consistently. The same could be said for several characters that received changes.
Just would like to point Sasaki is the 2nd japanese ranked player on Xbox Live and the 3rd is also a Cody player (dunno who it is tho). Cody is already fucking strong in AE.
No1 is also a Cody player, but he’s obviously a fraud.
hurray for another buff! : D +2 active frames.
gonna make a transiton from j.lk to j.lp as a2a stuffer. so far I only used it as tick throw jump in.
In Cross Counter Asia Ep 3 about the changes to AE2012 during the Cody section (1h2min20sec) they say the walk speed increase is when holding the knife, how true that is i don’t know ?
Capcom-unity posted official translations. According to that the walkspeed buff is universal. The knife specific changes has its own section.
Also, zUkUu, you made an error in the OP. Overhead is -1 on hit on a croucher not +1.
I dunno if that post is 100% anyway. it also says [MP (Knife)]: Now gives +2 frames of advantage. (which is +3 atm, so it would be a nerf, which would make NO sense at all), instead of “it’s a 2 hitting move”. In this case, i trust eventhubs + srk more tbh.
edit: mh, but eventhubs changed it. (overhead being -1 aswell, it was +1 at first). but really, that knife s.mp change makes no sense. it also destroys the only new real viable knife combo s.lp, s.mp, c.lk xx… I really doubt it. Needs confirmation.
edit2: My google translation skills let me also think that it’s a 2 hitting move then a +2 frame advantage nerf.
So far it seems like the best way to use the knife is to just hit cr.mp all day ala vega style.
I like your thinking lol.
Also I am REALLY looking forward to walkspeed being buffed up. I’m hoping he’ll be at least as fast as Ken. Throw games and footsies are going to be SICK now.
knife s.mp is like…his best tool for whiff punishes while holding the knife (besides st.lp). why would you not use that move?
they were talking about his overhead hitting a standing opponent.
