I don’t think Cody needed any buffs at all and I’m very surprised he got such a load. Don’t complain.

He mostly got fixes and a lot of knife buffs but still left the knife with its fundamental problem, aside from the walk speed buff everything else he received is in line with what most other characters received (buffs to useless moves noone uses).
I’ve seen too many people saying how “X” character got buffed beyond belief, while the people who actually play those characters see them as insignificant lol.
That may be true, but we should remember that the changes that the other characters received also change his rankings and matchups.
Speaking of “rankings”…I just found this under the AE 2012 Video round-up thing…one of the comments someone claims to have translated the following “tier list” for AE 2012 that poongko posted on his blog:

honda being mid? dat list is flawed allready. let me tell you, honda gonna be the sleeper top tier in v12. now he has all tools anyone can wish for, and is a serious threat from anywhere but full screen.
afair the patch has been around somewhere for about over a week.
the tier list in general will only change slightly. characters that recive buffs/nerfs that alter the gameplay in more then a minor degree are only fei, yun, blanka and honda. to a degree yang and gouken aswell.

It’ll be interesting to see how Cody blocks when picking up the knife. iirc he blocks when he picks it up so if that’s a guaranteed auto block it might be pretty useful to remain a good perimeter to the knife more. Maybe this’ll not have any effect at all but you never know.
just a guess, but I think it’ll get the same treatment as a taunt that you can abort instantly, meaning that you can probably cancel it with everything (normal, dash, ducking (e.g. while inputing any special / ultra motion), blocking/backwalk etc).
After playing around with 2012 Cody, I can mostly confirm that Bad Spray is not considered a projectile. Its more like wake up special that can nullify fireballs. I used bad spray and was able to FADC from it after it hit a fireball. If the grounded opponent is hit by bad spray, you can FADC into HK ruffian. And if your lucky to hit an airborn opponent with bad spray, you can FADC into a crack kick>EX criminal upper depending on how high they are i think (i was only able to land the crack kick part and forgot to do EX criminal but I’m sure you can do it lol)
As for the knife, anti air crouching HP is noticeably faster with that extra frame removed. And standing MP is two hit and is god like in the corner really pins them in and breaks focus attacks easily. Blocking during knife pick up is great, really keeps your opponents on their toes. You simply just block while grabbing it and your pretty much guaranteed to pick it up unless you guess your block wrong.
plz, tell us moar. His knife gameplay viable? Also, how noticeable is the walkspeed change in terms of his overall being as a character?
it seems to have the same principle as yun’s palm then. (btw it has still a projectile hitbox tho)
heh for now i’m pretty satisfied with the changes. knife normals are amazing and walk speed is up there with ken~ibuki. Heh, the satisfaction w/ the walkspeed probably wont last when i go up against characters like bison… chun… balrog… cammy… akuma… etc…

Messing around in training mode I noticed Cody sometimes now drops the knife right back in front of him. This is something I didn’t notice before, as to apply more pressure. Not sure what the activating factors are but sometimes he drops the knife right back in front of him and sometimes away wether FADC or not.

cr.lp, cr.lp, st.lp, st.mp now connects when holding the knife, mk ruffian goes a lot further, walk speed increase is significant, only checked those when i updated with the patch, gonna spend lot of time in training mode later though lol
