Also, imagine what an increased walkspeed would do to being able to position yourself to punishing a neutral jump with HK Ruffian.
@Techtun I think this is really a case of playstyle preference, or preference in general. Nothing more than my opinions
Can’t we just say “OM NOM DELICIOUS WALKSPEED BUFF” and leave it at that? I personally think both would be immensely useful.
yea no one’s hating at all at whatever buff it turns out (forward/back/both) just as Ostakatten said, it’s all preference.
forward helps with walking them down/pressure/pushing them to the corner quickly. Backwards helps bait out throws/normals/reversals along with playing a actual good spacing game for his normals to whiff punish or simply gain a bit of space in neutral if you actually need to back off for a moment. (because we all know his backdash isn’t helping him in that aspect.)
so yea. Really depends on what you want to do.
So
Ultra Cody - Vanilla Sagat = 1-9 matchup eh?
Ehhh…probably. Not Even accounting the damage. S.lk would be a menace. Tiger knees are a big problem. That’s Probably where ex CU would come into play. J.mp might be very difficult to anti air.
Pff, with buffed ghetto slide vanilla Sagat is gonna be blown up.
Unsure whether or not edition select is going to be something you can toggle on/off in ranked, though. And whether or not most tournies will run with it. Because if it’s edition select all over, I’m switching to vanilla Ryu or AE Yun. I never got to try either of these characters ;_;
How can anyone even wonder about it? It’ll obviously disabled for Ranked and I’m pretty sure it can be toggled off in Casuals (remember, just like AE / 2012 toggle. they will just add “I don’t care” or sumething there). As for tournies, this shouldn’t even be a question. It wont be used obviously. Tho, I bet it’ll see some interesting use in some special tournaments, sets and money matches.
Can’t believe people are actually wanting this to be a standard rule for tourneys, Wolfkrone was calling out Jebailey because he said CEO won’t have tournaments with Edition Select haha.
It might depend completely on how well received ultra is. If ultra is terrible, the community might backlash enough to the point where they use the other version.
While the edition select probably will be something you can turn off if there’s any sense to the developers, keep in mind that this is Capcom we’re talking about. Bringing back pants-on-head-retarded characters like v.Sagat, v.Ryu, v.Akuma and AE Twins wouldn’t even be the stupidest thing they’ve ever done, and they did make a big announcement just for this feature…
Gotta admit I’m kind of looking forward to edition select for the sheer chaos that would turn the game into. If it actually is in ranked, however, it would involve me dropping Cody on the spot. Matching him against the characters mentioned above, as well as several others, would be a complete nightmare.
Unless Cody gets the buffs he needs, god forbid, because then CODY TOTALLY SO OP.
I’m dropping AE2012 Cody and maining SSFIV edition Cody. Love that Makoto-esque walkspeed!
@zukuu My thoughts exactly. I think it’s a very fun thing, and when I saw the comments on eventhubs that “this will make rebalancing pointless” my jaw dropped. People are not very bright sometimes
I just want A3 Cody selectable. Lol rolls/alpha counter/vism dodge/custom combos/infinite combo/air blocking
:3
it’s whatever. It’s capcom’s option select if people don’t like the ultra changes. At least that’s how I see it.
because outside of Adon, who the hell REALLY wants to play the super versions of the characters introduced in SSFIV?
That’s how messed up their balancing is. The fact that most characters have 1 definitive best version means all other versions have no redeeming qualities. Some characters may have 1 or 2 quirks they like from 1 version over the other and that is just preference. But most will be picking 1 or 2 versions onlu.
For cody its either 2012 or ultra due to the split opinion about ex criminal upper. That just shows how they really messed up with super and ae cody. That there is no reason any of us would want to play those versions of cody.
If you weren’t in Vanilla and you aren’t Yun/Yang you get very little out of this. Most of the cast added post-Vanilla are looking to ultra to make them the best version, if Ultra doesn’t than it’s AE2012 all the way.
I played Cody in the latest ultra build at SCR, he honestly felt pretty much the same. There are differences sure but nothing that stands out, ex CU not being grab invincible really sucks btw
You talk to Combofiend or anyone about it?
