Hey whats up, i noticed that alot of codys baller setups are spread between a bunch of threads and to help myself figure out the best ones in a quick to look up reference guide i made a cody word doc for everything, combos, setups, etc.

I recently finished my setups after knockdowns (techable and untechable) and figured i would post it.
If you guys know and other setups post them and ill add them, also if any of mine seem unreliable let me know.

I have been able to reproduce all of them minus the post ultra setups reliably both in training and in online games. Need to edit it a bit but ill post a raw version now.

If you do the auto safe jump with no pause using a j hk at the peak of your jump vs the rest of the cast you will appear unsafe but still be able to block in time vs 3 frame reversals, good for baiting

Zonk Knuckle
EX: Dash, Dash, meaty cl fp
(EX) Zonk: Dash > Dash > st. HP > cr. HP (No CH Needed)
Regular: Dash, Dash, meaty cl mp

Meaty Bad Stone: For moves not listed and and all moves listed
lp bad stone will hit meaty and chip on untechable or quick rises
after a meaty bad stone you can crack kick/dash to close some distance safely
obviously you must correct for spacing with a mp or hp in some instances

Post focus lvl 2
focus dash forward and you are +4
Use cl mp, cl fp for a frame trap, or cr lp

Corner Setups

Forward throw, walk back a little, cross up with J.MK [unblockable on Ryu]

When they start blocking your bad stone:
fake stone > overhead
Fake stone > throw

Empty jump mixups [safe vs 3 framers and can be used after all setups above]
After all above setups by removing delays + normal and back throw normals
Empty jump, hold back, then kara back throw (bait reversals, throw non techers)
-Empty jump EX Zonk to beat their entire set of wake up options.
-empty jump delayed crouch tech techs throws and baits reversals while blocking
mashing
When they start doing delay techs, adjust and start doing this:
-Empty jump delayed St.Fierce for frame trap
-Empty low short > combo [perform low short by crough tech]
Jump in 50/50: use j.RH intead of an empty once reversals stop + they block low

I thought those unblockables on hakan and bison were corner only? :s

I have no idea the unblockables are the one thing i have no idea about as iv never used/practiced them. ill change it

I’m not sure, I saw a video on an unblockable that works on both Hakan and Dictator off a forward throw, and remember them being in the corner. I’ll test it out later if you want 'cause I’m not 100% sure.

That would be sweet if your down. im gonna do it my self as i hate seth and im gonna learn one might as well learn all of them

Back throw - walk forward 1small training block (basically tap forward once) - forward jump MK = unblockable on Sakura I just found.

Also works on cammy, twins and Rufus I’ve heard. Apparently juri too but you have to adjust the timing.

So Cody has unblockables on Sakura from both throws.

Trying to find some more unblockables I found an interesting setup against Sagat.

Corner only - Forward throw - standing.LP - fj-HK

Hits in-front but you land behind Sagat (it puts you in the corner, it’s a gamble but an interesting mixup.)

Ok I THINK I found an unblockable but I’d like someone to double check it.

I did c.LK - EX Ruffian s.MP (whiff) c.MP (whiff) - forward jump HK on Sagat

In my testing there was quite a number of other options to avoid the setup though. If Sagat crouches it whiffs, if he does a reversal focus attack it whiffs (because he moves slightly forward during his focus) if he does a s.LP it whiffs, Tiger Upper whiffs (mega punishable though since he can’t FADC it) forward dash without focus or with focus causes the setup to whiff also.

But blocking the move left or right while standing doesn’t work.

Zangief unblockable midscreen I found

EX Ruffian - Backdash - s.LP (whiff) - fj.HK
Notes: only works if you slide under Zangief with the EX Ruffian. Beats all normals on reversal, trades with 3P Reversal lariat (not a good trade but could be worth it for conditioning), beats 3K Lariat. Catches backdash, whiffs on forward dash, whiffs if gief crouches when waking up (good though because then you do a meaty jump in next time and throw him off)

One against Balrog, another case of makes everything whiff or get stuffed except crouching as seems to be the case with Cody’s heavy attacks on unblockable setups.

EX Ruffian - Backdash - s.LP (whiif) - fj.HP (if you do a fj.HK it can be blocked as a crossup)

So yeah tested them, doesn’t work mid screen, heres the original vid I saw it on from HumbleDictator.

Unblockable on Ken (corner only)

Forward throw - step back 1 training block - forward jump MK. Beats everything except forward dash. Seriously I’m gonna have to make a video of this because it’s almost stupid. Stuffs LP dp, stuffs HP dp, stuffs EX Tatsu, stuffs all supers (that’s right his super is stuffed). Causes MP/EX DP to whiff, causes Ultra 1 to Whiff! A wakeup c.MK will cause the the setup to whiff, but Ken will do the c.MK the wrong direction so if your reactions are on point you can punish him since c.MK has 16F of recovery.

I’ll make a video of this and the other 3 unblockables I found sometime tomorrow and post em here.

Really finding unblockables (especially for Cody due to his multiple hard knockdowns with varying knockdown times) seems pretty easy. Just lots and lots of trial and error. Probably only took me an hour or so for each unblockable I’ve found so far.

I spent a long time trying to find one for Ibuki and couldn’t, her wakeup hitbox and hitbox in general are really wonky.

So I’m in the process of recording the setups right now and I’ve found that the Ken setup is sort of tight timing in one sense and sort of lenient timing in another.

I could make it unblockable easily and consistently, however depending on the timing of the fj.MK and the amount you step back after the forward throw you will beat different options. For example, if done perfectly (as when I had it discovered) you’ll beat everything I listed. And all of the DPs and supers will still be grounded when you hit them. If you are slightly off on your timing it will still be unblockable but you’ll get an air reset on all the DPs (which on the plus side will flip Ken back into the corner) you will be able to beat his MP DP rather than make it whiff. His LP DP will hit you out of the air, and he can dodge the setup by crouching.

The main thing though is that even slightly late or slightly off of your spacing the setup still works as an unblockable and beats almost all his options on wakeup.

Finally got around to putting up the videos of the Ken and Zangief unblockables. After some more testing I found that while my setups against Sagat and Balrog DO work they are extremely tight and too inconsistent to bother with so I didn’t record videos for them. The Gief one is consistent but tight, the Ken one is amazing and I think could really be useful in the match up if you can get him into the corner.

I was trying out the Gief one. It is unblockable, but it can trade with lariat. It can stuff lariat and cause lariat to whiff too. Maybe I just wasn’t timing the st. LP whiff right. It’s early by me.

Really helpfull thread, though i voted “no” by accident, excuse my mouse…

If I tested correctly, Ken can do 4 things to avoid being hit and Cody can beat all of them if he guesses right:

  1. Ken can forward dash, but OS back throw(as you want him in the corner) beats it
  2. Ken can backward dash, this beats OS throw, but loses to any other OS
  3. Ken can Ultra 2 out of the corner, but this is easily punishable
  4. Ken can FADC and OS will not come out. There should be double OS that takes care of this.

One nice thing though is that if Ken does the backdash raw (without FADC) he will backdash into Cody making the punish even easier.

Also I checked and the setup works on Ryu, E.Ryu, Oni, and Akuma with similar results (stuffs DPs, is unblockable, hits crouching) It did not however work on Dan (it is an ambiguous crossup though but not an unblockable.) Also Ken/Ryu/E.Ryu/Oni/Akuma c.MK and lower their hurtbox on wakeup to make it whiff but it loses to an OS since they c.MK the wrong direction.
