didn’t know if this question was appropriate for the cody for beginners thread, and didn’t see any other stickied threads, so sorry if this shouldn’t be it’s own thread
hey i noticed in the frame data for cody, his level 1 focus attack is -21 on block or hit, that cant be right if you dash afterwords, say…
clp, clp, cmp x hpcu focus cancel (let the wrench hit them) dash out of the focus to be right next to them
it seems that you recover from the dash around the same time as they recover from hit stun, i just want to know if this is a good situation for cody, frame advantage wise
same with a blocked focus attack, if i dash as it hits, and come up beside them, is it somewhere near even for frame advantage, allowing me to catch them off guard with a throw or ex bingo, or not?
i noticed that the japanese cody (name is all numbers 1100186 type thing) he uses focus a lot more than other codys, just wanna incorporate some of that
yea i figured the -21 was for the full focus, but when you let the wrench hit, then dash out of it (not a regular fadc where you dash cancel before the wrench hits) it does seem to be about even recovery, so if the frame advantage was like 0 or even just a little negative, it would be worth it
i just cant find any info on this type of pressuring, say, 2x clp, they block, you throw the lp rocks, then focus cancel, let the wrench hit, and dash in, throw
or even on hit sometimes, ending your combo by cancelling into focus attack, would that leave you in negative frames, making it non-viable for a rushdown character like cody, or not. because if it is anywhere near even, it would be like a reset, keeping cody nice and close to the opponent, maintaining the heat
thanks for the reply zukuu, i guess it let me know that i needed to elaborate, cheers
