Safejumps with an attack can’t, but empty jumps can (but you can always tech!). for empty jumps do a crouch tech or option select, so you tech just in case.
alright… Does anybody know how long Cody’s Light Kick Ruffian Knock down is… in frames???
Well… maybe you guys can give me direct advice…
Right after light kick ruffian… I’m tryin to figure out the perfect set of moves to whiff to help set up a good counter hit fierce…
As of late i’ve been whiffing crack kick and although it’s been working decently its recovery is, i feel, to fast- meaning that there is too much time in between where you gotta FEEL when to hit that fierce…
Do you guys have better suggestions???
What should I whiff after light kick ruffian to set up a good counter hit fierce…
and another things while i’m at it…
This is hard to put into words… but here goes…
Say… If we knew exactly how many frames cody had after light kick ruffian to set up his close fierce… how many frames of advantage should we aim for before pressing fierce… ???
In other words: If we had the option to Press fierce during any frame of the 40 we’re given what would be the ideal time to press to press fierce?
For example, if we were to continue using 40 frames as the example of his Untechable knockdown,… If we chose to hit the fierce button on frame 35… the active frame will make contact on frame 43 meaning 3 frames after the opponent has gotten back on his feet…
You understand where I’m coming from don’t you?
Should Cody have his fierce make contact the 1st frame they recover aka frame 32?
35-38-39???
I know this sounds overly specific and might be in fact… Do you guys think of you set ups in frames?
depends if you want to hit it meaty or to fish for counter hits. as for meaty you want to input the cl.hp on the 29th frame (given your examples that they can controle their character on the 40th frame), since it has 8 startup frames and 4 active frames [last startup frame = first activeframe] means 11 frames in total. as for CH fishing, it depends on the gap you want to leave. because on wakeup better players do a late tech to block meaties, or do a crouch tech. so anything up the 33th frame would be acceptable. after the 36th frame you can be thrown out tho.
Actually it was mostly Oni players flipping coins. I’m trying to learn to space it correctly and it’s not that big a deal anymore.
hi everyone,
i would like to know what button do you use to charge zonk?i mean at close range,mid-range,on wake up,etc…
^ depends on the match up… ask yourself which of your punches you’d be willing to give up… personally I use
Adon = Heavy…
Yun = Medium
for example
btw… going back to my question earlier about what to whiff after a lk ruffian to help set up a nice counter hit fierce…
It seems that whiffing a MEDIUM kick Ruffian right after is peeerrfect…
Not only frame wise but because it makes cody look vulnerable people are apt to pushing buttons
i’m trying to learn plinking but english isn’t my first language so i feel a bit unsure on whether i’ve actually managed to grasp the idea behind this technique or not. i find the descriptions and tutorials on this a bit confusing honestly.

it might be a stupid question, but i just wanna make sure i’m not practicing the wrong thing here. am i doing it right? it’s a basic c.lp, c.lp, c.mp xx CU combo with the c.mp being (supposedly) plinked.
thanks guys.
Yes you are doing it correctly.
thank you sir. i will now practice cl.mp, c.hp until my fingers bleed because i can’t for the life of me get that down the regular way.
Till they Bleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed
One thing I like to do when plinking things is getting myself away from that technique slowly. Plink something until I can get it 50 times in a row. Once I get to that point, I start trying to do the link without plinking.
Also, is this thread’s front page going to be updated for AE12?
Are you able to hold down (both regular and EX) Zonk and do every move/combo possible in the situation?
I did not think about this earlier, but if I am holding FP I almost never go for HK RK or Crack kick as my fingers just cannot do this.
Yesterday I tried switching punches and kicks and I felt like playing SF2 on 3 button MegaDrive joypad again :).
It just feels a little awkward to do, but can be done with no hassle imo. I also use lp for charging, depending on the situation, such as zoning / mid range footsie. c.hp xx zonk is a great poke against certain characters.
I do the same - holding lp for footsies, if I don’t AA I try releasing it while in block stun so I can tech throws.
When I was having trouble I practiced playing while holding a punch down. Each punch for pretty much a whole day.
Once your used to holding down the button, switch it up. I usually use LP at a distance (so I can throw far rocks and b+mp) and HP from medium range (so I can tech throw and b+mp)
Also get used to releasing the punch during blockstun for a proper punish. cant tell you how many times I missed a free punish ultra cause I was caught holding a zonk and didn’t react properly. Or when i was holding a zonk and I get a dizzy I would confuse myself on what to do lol
Dear Cody Support Staff,
Bouncin’ Blanka be boing boing bustin’ up my business.
I have the reaction time of a lobotomized tree sloth, and while this makes me look cool in haunted houses, I can’t react fast enough to Blankahopz to block them.
And thus, I am left alone in a dark room with only my joystick, tears, and a Blanka victory screen softly illuminating my misery and tormenting my soul.
Please, my Cody kin, help me solve this gimmick!
There is a good write up on Blanka; check it out:
hey guys i’ve been having a lot of trouble in the seth matchup if he just constantly runs away…throws out some booms and keeps backin up…i’ll walk forward to get him in corner and then its a guessing game…If i go to far in he’ll walljump and do it all over. No idea how to close the gap (without meter) while making it hard for him to jump away
