I’ve had a Sony VAIO for about a year, and a Cingular phone. My model VGN-SZ32OP can read Cingular SIM cards, and supposedly I should be able to connect to the internet and what not (I have an internet plan). But when I pop my SIM card in all I’m able to do is read my texts and the like, and unable to connect to the internet. I’m just wondering if there is anyone who has this type of laptop and is able to successfully connect.
What is the name of data plan do you have on your account?
Media Data plan with 200 texts.
Media Max plans will not work with laptops. You will have to add the DataConnect Unlimited plan to your account, then download the At&t Communication Manager. You will also have to get a USB cable that is specific to the phone you want to use as the modem.
So basically it goes like this: Add feature to your account, download and install software, hookup phone to your comp and hope for the best!
Depending on your cingular fone, once you get the data connect plan, you don’t even need the USB cable if you’ve got bluetooth on both devices.
