It is pretty brainless, outside of reacting to jump ins. I’m sure Abel players will claim it was a “good read” but really they are just being random and they know it. And hell, if it doesn’t work, just cancel it and do something else. I still think Abel’s U1 is better, because it’s more consistent and a free way to take away 75% in some situations.
I wont even lie, I use it randomly on jump ins or people trying to get multiple normals or something. 50/40 is my random ratio for brainless.
Its just certain matchups REALLY dedicate U1 over U2.
I.e Akuma = U2 / Ryu/Ken = Ultra 1 by far. I guess its also depending on the ryu player too. Because Ive found U2 to hurt ryu since most ryus love C.mk -> Hadoken. Or w/e strings ryu players do. You just brainless in the middle of it and TA-DA!

Anyway I found what I’ve been looking for the past week. Some small team in China is work has been working on Streets of Rage 4 HD. It looks fuckin GREAT, awesome sprites (for Axel, so far) interesting combo mechanics and draws from the amazing remixes to SoR themes done since the series began.
They released the demo but then the only place I could find it went down as a website. But I managed to find another download link. Diego, Phil I’m especially lookin to see what ya’ll think of this. I just want to say that I agree 1000000%, Quentin is the most haterest hater in the community, worse than ME. He tries to shit on me whenever I try to openly do anything to promote a game I want to play or anything like that, for no good reason, and I endorse this continued trolling of him.
I think a lot of Abel players use Breathless as a crutch. There are some matchups in tourney that I will use it in (how you doin balrog) but I mostly will always stick with U1.
Brandon: Have you seen anything about Dungeon Fighter Online? It’s an MMO, but it’s like a Beat 'em up (think D&D:Shadows over Mystara). Really fun combos and stuff, and it has PVP in it. I’ve been playing that a little here and there for a while, and it’s really fun. SoR is one of my favorite beat 'em ups but I don’t know, I feel weird playing anything other than 2. That page you linked seems like they don’t have any throws or anything like that at the moment.
