The stream shouldn’t start in the finals, they did a little SFIV, then a lot of Marvel tourney, then practically all of SFIV tourney, then the losers finals and grand finals for Marvel, it’s all available here:
My matches are at the end of part 1 that bleeds into the beginning of part 2 against my friend Worf Joestar we play a lot so I was off on some things but still took the match. My next was against K-beast at 19:00 of part 2. then it continues on the next stream link here:
My third match against K-beast is in progress at the beginning then way later on we get my losers finals at 1:45:10 against Dacid after the SFIV tourney ends. then Grand Finals against F-Champ right afterward.
The main reason for this is big names like John Choi, F-champ, Vangief etc for SFIV made it more hype for stream viewers, even though the winners finals and grand finals for SFIV took roughly the same time as the entire Marvel tournament. XD
So I had an hour training session I recorded. Mostly just trying mix-ups with Mag and Dante assists. Anything I thought was good or was worth noting after I was done recording I placed in the video. There are a couple things in here that I wouldn’t use in matches but I thought I would place them in there (specifically the heavy seismo blockstring whiff) so people could get ideas. My theory behind that is if i was pushblocked they would eat some type of disruptor and seismo chip damage. The disruptor keeps them in place so I can FADC and do a low attack or something to that nature.
You can tell by the end of this video I ran out of brain power and was bored.
I don’t know if I’ll record another training session again. An hour long video I have to sift through… yeah. Crappy editing because I was so wiped out after I found all I would put in the video. I left inputs on so anyone who had question about them could just look at the video. I don’t want to transcript.
Thought you in particular would enjoy a couple things in there Chrisis. Maybe even Kbeast since he runs the same team.
I kinda just made this to hopefully give some Viper players ideas. Hopefully you guys can try/test some of this out or get some ideas out of it to make some other mix-ups. Anything you find post here!
That’s a lot of really good stuff! I think pretty much all of the Mag stuff can be done if I’m running Akuma or Mag Right now I go between Haggar, Akuma, and Magneto for slot 3 depending on the match up.
Some of those mix ups are ridiculous and you seriously need to visit norcal at some point so we can lab together! Great stuff!
If only there was a plane ticket that wasn’t so expensive… Don’t make a lot of money right now and all are going toward bills. It’d be nice to visit California and get some time in! Never really been out of state aside from up North. And since I’m so involved in these damn fighting games I’d like to go out there and test my luck.
Also another thing to note on the Dante jam session setup which I’m actually proud of lol! hopefully they don’t get rid of the push back property now for UMvC3 or make the lockdown shorter! I have a feeling they got Capcom campers that troll every forum looking for stuff they couldn’t find that was so easy to pull off and negate it in UMvC3.
ANYWAYS Dante jam session jump over setup for smaller characters you can actually negate the pushback sort of with a medium TK and teleport to the other side. Getting the timing down right you can do a Medium TK cancel and go straight into a low on the other side of them. Fun!
Without that fuzzy guard tidbit you posted a while back I wouldn’t have really found out that first mix-up. Thanks killey lol. Doesn’t work on larger characters as a cross up but it is a 50/50 regardless of character size. Damn near impossible to throw someone out of and it negates any mashing hyper armor things.
Oh yeah and I place an advance guard technique in there that every character can pull off. Just works wonders for Viper because jumping tri-dash S from is blocked at the lowest point before Viper hits the ground… after a block you can dash forward if you think your opponent will advance guard or has a tendancy to do it on the first hit. I’m not sure if Viper has too many opportunities for safe mix-ups outside of her tri-dash or box-dash. Maybe the seismo FADC low hit I have in there.
The gap is quite literally 3-4 frames. Or maybe less. I should check it in my video frame by frame lol. Just enough to get them out of block-stun so that you can cross-up and then figure out if you want to hit high or low. Dirrrty! In UMvC3 I don’t know if any good reversed combo assist would work. I.E. Tronne Or Haggar
Two combos with the Viper team I’m working on. Probably not new to the technical people here, but showing some team synergy, assist usage, and of course, touch of death (starting with only one bar).
Love the different style you got going on there. As long as you can manage ToD combos on people starting with one bar you’re doing nothing wrong. Great work.
The only advice i can really give you is (and keep this in mind) Any hits after the 10th hit is the lowest possible damage output. Viper has a really easy time getting nothing but Medium/Heavy/and air.S into any combo at the start of it. Not a lot of characters can do that. Everything after the 10th hit is filler damage. The thing about filler damage with viper is eventually you have to think of hit-stun deterioration especially if you use your first 10 hits as nothing but special moves and heavy’s and air S’s like me. You kind of worked backwards in my way of thinking of Viper combos but that allowed little hit stun deterioration before your launcher that you had a lot of room for filler damage. Still you have pretty good high damage and in the end as long as you gain meter and use it efficiently to kill an opponent in one blow what does it matter? lol
If you want me to give you an idea on how to tweak that combo to make it slightly better hopefully by 40-50k maybe even somewhere near 100k I would be glad to help. But it is nap time now. Tired.
So here is my matches with WindZero7. Cool guy, great player. Absolutely destroyed me. After sifting through our hour long session and finding the more ‘interesting’ matches I realized I don’t know wtf I was thinking when I was playing this guy. If I could go back I would done stuff differently, but I noticed I didn’t adjust or tried to be careful to a lot that was going on. I won’t take anything away from WindZero7 because he played his characters to their strengths and did very well with them. GG’s if you see this. Great Chris/Zero/Jill and even though he didn’t use a lot of assists to setup opportunities he had a solid team that had great DHC capabilities and chip damage and much other things going on.
IMO his Chris was much more impressive than his Jill. His Jill may have ended up as the main picture on the victory screen more, but his Chris did a a lot more. Jill always had x factor when she dropped bombs.
Sorry for the DeSync on one of those vids, I tried to fix it, but apparently youtube hates that particular vid…
The big thin I’m thinking is that if you have repulsor blast you don’t need Dante. I’m gonna play with some different team configs next, I’ll record anything that looks interesting.
But it is better for incoming character setups. I dunno yet, like I said I’m gonna play with it. I was considering Spidey, but that doesn’t really help those bad matchups at all… What other assists cover that same sort of spot?
