Chun-li Video/Discussion Thread

I was looking at his other match in the finals against a Sagat

It’s pretty much how Chun would lose to a Sagat…coming up short on damage.

But I learned that cl.roundhouse -> EX legs is a no-go if you’re trying to ultra after it on the likes of Sagat/Ryu. I’m pretty sure it will have enough time on high floaters that get juggled by ultra, such as Honda/Blanka/Dhalsim.

I see he knew about the sneaky jump fierces after throw. Pretty interesting choices made by the Chun.

nice, he kikoken’d to bait a neutral jump then Fadc’d so he could AA it. kool stuff.

there’s my contribution guys. enjoy.

Interesting! I hadn’t even thought about using J.HP and J.HPx2 as a mixup. Did you guys notice that? He jumped in with a single fierce one time going straight into c.lk which obviously you need to go straight to crouch block for and then after he did the air chain which you need to block high a bit longer for. Sagat got hit that second time.

I noticed that some people get hit by the second hit of the air chain when they’re not used to fighting chun, but after they adapt, they block it no problem. I never thought about using just the first hit and going straight to low. I love it!

The really cool thing about j.fierce in that match up is with that spacing and setup after the throw…the tiger uppercut (even his jab one) goes completely under you. So that means he has to take the mix up because it’s a meaty as well. Empty low shorts and empty throws are really powerful, and empty hasan-shu into low short EX legs and ultra in the corner can win tight situations for you.

lol nice d/f rh combo

So that was the trickery you were talking about. Glad you said something, cus if it was posted before I totally missed it. Very good to know. It doesn’t exactly revolutionize the match, but it sounds like it’s as good if not better than safe-jump setups. I always did think Tiger Uppers had way to much horizontal range, and now he pays for it XD

Hey Mags, do you have a video of that? I have been working on my safe jump set ups and would like to see how you do them. I usually just go for low shorts, empty throw, or empty hs after throw safejump set-up. Not really comfortable with the fierces. thanks for the info.

Making one, it should be up on my channel in a bit. You have it right? I’ll just leave it up there

Yeah, I am subscribed. Thanks for all of your work. I can’t say how much I appreciate it!

Hey guys, the very last match is uploaded from last tourney.

It’s me losing to Lud’s Chun in a mirror. I’ll keep you guys posted for the other vs Abel/Sagat/Chun matches!!

^^lud seems to have good reactions, and range finding.

his use of cr.mp was surprising as well.

GG’s

Lud’s Chun is nice and i like that he reps the black original

Yeah, that’s one of Chun’s more effective uses of FADC in action – I been aware of that tactic for months though, it’s not really “breaking news”.

AGREED! I was very impressed with his knowledge of the mirror matchup and use of cr. mp; most impressive indeed!!!
