Unfortunately I only have Xbox 360 T_T But thanks for offering!
And yeah I used to rely just on getting my ass beat over and over but since that isn’t geting me the desired results in this game I’m trying a different… more analytical approach.

Wow that guy was playing so disrespectful with that constant jumping. Was it lagging a lot or something? Add more nj. HP/HK and j. HP x 2 to your anti airs vs someone like that because he wasn’t respecting your AA game at all and some of the closer angle jump-ins will be covered by those moves (use st. MK or cl. MK if you feel you don’t feel you have the time to jump). Get as much damage as you can on AAs since he’s basically giving it away.
Also don’t let him bully you on the ground either. Use st. MP, sweep and st. HP more since he barely had any intention of blocking and start pushing him back so you don’t lose ground. If he starts focusing like a maniac, cancel your st. MP into fireball to blow that up or use the great recovery of st. MP to poke into focus, make the focus strike whiff and then whiff punish it.
Other than that, go in more and take advantage of the fact that Cody doesn’t have much beyond EX zonk to defend himself up close (which is slower startup than most reversals and an easy punish on block with either st. HP, EX Legs, Super or Ultra). Comboing into EX Legs isn’t a bad I idea vs him either if you didn’t confirm into something bigger already. He’s one of the characters who gets hit 4 times by EX Legs so it’s more damage than normal, but more importantly the knockdown will let you move in on him.
I see you do step forward after you AA, so that’s good. Don’t let anyone back you down with jump-ins and gain ground whenever you can. He did get you with frametraps a few times and unfortunately that’s just what Cody does. When they get that close for pressure, I try to see how often they’ll throw instead of teching as soon as possible and then pick my spots to EX SBK those traps instead.
Re: Ruffian Kick nonsense: All ruffians can be reversal ultra 1 punished on block and only the HK version can be FADC’d (but it also whiffs over crouchers), so crouch block it whenever you can and either reversal ultra 1 if you have it, or use your next best punish.
You got to RTSD while he has no EX for zonk/EX Upper. Keep him at somewhat mid range to slightly far if you can. He can beat you at close range with his frametrap game and Criminal Upper combos. You also got hit by his overhead quite a few times (the downward 2-hit punch).
Don’t back yourself into a corner early as well. Move forward if you can.
Thanks for all the help! I really appreciate it. One question though… what is RTSD?
RUSH. THAT. SHIT. DOWN.
Copyright Alex Valle probably.
lol
Ohhh lol thanks
'Playing live for about an hour:
Hahahaha it’s nice to see that I’m not the only one cussing the entire time online xD
LOL, playing like ole rusty ass. I need to shake up things now that other players’ familiarity with me is starting to settle. I got to stop forgetting to do things once I leave practice/the lab and reading and actually implement them. Def gonna play more often once my sore hand is better.
mine from last week or so… spoilers to make things go faster.
Dat Magic Pixel struggle.
Some casuals with a friend from the local session last night:
4:40 - 27:20 = Chun Li vs Yun
28:30 - 42:35 = Chun Li vs Makoto
Then we mess around with other characters for a little while until 1:45:25 where we play 1 match of Chun v Bison, which I lost (this is who he beat me with in GFs of last month’s ranbats and in a long set a couple of weeks ago, so I’m working at the matchup which I’ll post a few things about below)
A few things regarding that match vs. Bison:
-St. HP is better than st. MP for Chun most of the time in this match because the main poke you’ll be actively challenging during the ground game is his st. MK which is 1f faster and does 10 more damage than Chun’s st. MP.
St. HP is not only 6f startup and 100 damage, but is also more active and Bison won’t have much of an easier time punishing it either. Also, st. MP -> st. HP is a good mid range frame trap (and combos on counter hit).
-One very important thing I learned was not to really be afraid about throwing fireballs vs. his U2 (which I was scared to do a few weeks ago). The reason is because as long as they’re thrown out of pattern, they pretty are non-reactable with Psycho Punisher:
Average FG Player reaction time (around 14-16 frames or more) + input time (which also loses charge) + 22f startup = At least 40+ frames. You’re not gonna catch it unless you predict it with a pattern.
So really only EX scissors is fast enough to punish Chun’s Fireball on reaction and he has to be a lot closer to do that. If he’s hugging the edge of the screen sitting on charge though, don’t worry about the U2… worry about if you’re executing a predictable fireball pattern. That’s what I was doing in the match (throwing the out of pattern so he can’t really threaten with it)
-I screwed up the 2nd round by getting opened up too much at the start, but the point where I really lost was when he went for his j. HP in the corner and countered my st. HP. That’s mostly a blind spot for Chun and the way I should’ve dealt with it was to either walk under it OR…use d/f+lk. Yeah I know the move isn’t as useful anymore but it’s still really good when you’re cornered vs. a jump in because even a trade will allow you to combo EX Legs in the corner if you have the bar.
-I should also try not to back myself into the corner while throwing FBs/try not to walk back as much. His pressure is too safe in the corner for me to be putting myself there and making his job easier.
-Focus vs. Scissors is always gonna be iffy, but you shouldn’t be afraid to do it imo. Being at the range where you can crumple LK scissors will make Bison players think about switching it up with MK or HK scissors… but they can both be punished on block so it’s a gamble for him too.
I did (foolishly) try to focus the 1st hit of scissors and then backdash the 2nd hit in the corner during the 1st round. It works, but it’s just a trick and doesn’t really benefit me in any way other than trying to confuse the opponent.
-B+MK target combo is actually a good whiff punish vs. scissors (reaches the farthest for whiff punish for the most damage). He never really whiffed scissors though and I wasn’t really thinking about attempting it at the time anyway.
Hi. Neli right? This is photonshermie from Youtube :china:
Cr. Mk anti air?
Looks like something I need to investigate.
It’s like a suckier c. mp as anti-air, but it’s much easier to combo after.
cr.mk is gdlk
specially against viper
yeah, i like cr.mk a lot. could be better but I use it all the time
