Yeah probably double tapping lk as Y24 piano’s and doesn’t slide which is fair enough, I just slide it now as its way easier lol so I just slide down from hp to hk then down to lk and back up. But given he pianos I can’t imagine him not double tapping the lk as its the only way to get that input set up off piano
Yeah, I do the hp to hk -> lk -> hk slide as well. That works easiest for me but Y24’s inputs intrigued me. I could piano if it were LK legs but for whatever reason my fingers don’t work so well going left to right.
At SS2k11, Mago was in the training room, for whatever reason, practising Chun’s loop, and he seemed to have a lot of success doing it. He piano’s it, and asking him via a translator (as best as he could describe), he said that he does it the way Sako does, which is piano hp (ring), mk (middle), lk (index), then piano lk (index), mk (middle), hk (ring). Looking at Y24’s input, it looks as though this is a similar pattern to how he does it. Not too sure whether the hp + mk is intended to be a plinked hp~mk but instead comes off as a double press.
I actually it seems pretty logical to use HP+MK, you need to get those 5 kicks there, why not shove another one. I think I will give it a try (when Diablo’s sever will crush I guess)
Ooh! I feel smart, 'cause this is what I’ve been practicing to try to hit! AFAIK, this is the way Desk does it as well (love him or hate him, dude’s got great execution). Personally, I try to plink :hp:~:mk:~:lk: and then piano :lk:, :mk:, :hk:. Granted, I’m terrible and it doesn’t work most of the time, but it’s nice to know that the method that I’ve been training in is a good one =)
As an aside, Y24 is amazing. Oh my GOODNESS is Y24 amazing x_x
Desk has more than just good execution btw, he can really play I mean REALLY PLAY and yeah Y24 is currently technically the best Chun but surely he can’t be everyones fav, can he? I mean I get why that would be the case but he only just makes top 5 for me out of those that currently use her still, but that’s just me liking what I like about certain other Chun’s game I guess.
Also I have a soft spot for other European Chun’s that get little recognition are aren’t known outside Europe (afaik) but that’s just to do with liking your own I guess… If you want a good Chun that’s maybe not known to a lot of people on here (good Chun on SF4 and SFxT) search for Valmaster, his style is entertaining (he also plays Ibuki lol).
More Rodney… I do Like is Chun he has a nice style, he’s not Vivitan (in my eyes or Y24 in everyone else’s) but he is very solid and has good links and really nice spacing which is something I’m really working hard on atm as its the weakest part of my game and my spacing is making other aspects of my game seem worse then they are…
The only thing that bothers me in this video is that he almost always followed up a successful hazanshu hit with cr.lk, s.mp. This link personally irks me a lot. And a player of Rodney’s calibre should be able to hit confirm cr.lk xx ex.legs after a hazanshu, or even cr.lp, s.hp.

Though not as flashy, fundamentals, footsies and spacing much more impressive here.
Recent casuals, nothing too serious. It’s the weird thing, these surviving arcades, gotta keep getting used to the (often hard) buttons each time I go to a new one. I hope to get my AE/V2012 ones up soon.
Oh and thanks for the c. :hk: tip vs Guile Az, helped a lot in the casuals and mini-tourn over this weekend and last week as well.
[spoiler= me, old SF4 @ arcades around Manila, May 2012]
Nearly finished with ECT4 coverage – once I am done, it’s back to Chun/EVO training. Still have one more event to attend in Philly. Really looking forward to it.
More of the same, I think it was the same day even. Not as disastrous as the above, but almost, and the same impatient mistakes. Gonna work on my FA’s/pokes/post-backdash behavior for sure. I might go U1 in this one full-time as well, now that I’m learning the timing for the sonic boom punish.
