Chun-li Video/Discussion Thread

Thanks, I’ll keep that in mind. So far. I’ve no probs keeping Abels here out with footsies and kikos, but maybe they’re not just matchup savvy.

One of mine last March, a comedy of errors. 3/5 in casuals is wack to begin with, but I really should have blanked him in three straight rounds.

Overall, I’d say you were kind of impatient in trying to get to Guile. That’s exactly what Guile thrives on. In the second round he started to counter your random Hasanshu’s but was never really fully able to take advantage of it - a better player would be hitting you with EX Flash Kick if not U1, at the very least you’d be eating FA.

You went for cross-ups a lot against Guile - not a bad idea as he’s weak against them - but personally I try to push Guile into the corner every round, so I won’t go for the cross-up if it puts more space behind Guile. If I do, I’m planning on shenanigans - j.lk cross up, c.jab, df+rh or something like that.

Also, sweep is a surprisingly good AA against Guile, and it nets you the untechable knockdown as well.

Casual set against a friend’s Cody from a while back.

4neqs, I never know if you want critique on videos when you say that they’re old or not. Do you still want critique, or do you consider them old to the point of having learned beyond them?

Sometimes I do forget to say things. But generally when I post, I do want to see pointers if it’s my own work. If nothing else, I want to know if I the mistakes/things I’ve spotted are the same as what other people have spotted. Sometimes, I just do kind of put stuff out there to share + hope people learn from the things that I did wrong/right. Feel free to say something if you want.

In this instance, it’s more of the same errors I did in my older Cody’s. Getting impatient, not laming him out, lolHosenkas without dashing (and getting hit by rocks/ultra sand in the process), not knowing that it was an lp tornado (thus Hosenka wouldn’t work), lol Ican’t believe that ligthning legs wasn’t an EX, and so on.

Lacking patience is ultimately what kills a LOT of Chun players. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to be aggressive, but if you lack solid fundamentals, your gameplay is perceived as just an offensive crop of randomness. Being conservative or “lame” is actually more challenging than some think, and yet, it’s looked down upon by some as dull and boring. If you’re playing just to satisfy your peers, you may want to reassess the motivation of why you compete in the first place.

4Neqs – the best thing you can do is played a solid, focus style where your dashing and EX tendecies are more disciplined. Also recognize when you should maintain momentum, and when it’s best to shift back to a defensive position. I will be looking forward to your next set of vids.

Takahoko left us for the land of Flowcharters.

Wii bringing sense and sanity in the comments section too. lolyoutubecomments

Found this account on Youtube while searching for “SF4 Chun-Li”, a bunch of Chun replays there:

Not too sure about the gameplay quality, will do a double check later.

Its not good, save your time people… Maybe I’m being harsh but I felt like it was 6 minutes of my life I’ll never get back (no offence to the guy playing, as long as he’s having fun who am I to judge)

No, you’re right. The opponents aren’t so good either. :frowning: Fallingdown’s a better watch and this does sort of come off as an imitation. Never mind then

Forgive me for being blunt, but what the shit was that?

Chun vs Akuma at 8:15

Edit-- Not me playing and that’s an L, but posting that if only because those are also my bad habits in the worst matchup. As in, I tend to do stupid things when I can’t cope with an Akuma player too. Just pressing buttons when he has U1/Raging ready…

Managed to find some time to get some ranked games whilst the server was down for Diablo III. Not at my best, but I think I generally approach this matchup pretty well. I normally am pretty conscious about bk spam resetting after getting hit out of cs.hk, but I’ll put that down to lack of playing :stuck_out_tongue: Feedback/discussion is always welcome.

Had to… Y24 doing an impression (outfit and all) of Vivitan

Y24 has been rocking that alt since Vanilla. Plus, the first time I’ve seen someone using Chun do that combo in the second round was Sako years ago (before Vivi).

lol, Y24 swaps between that outfit and the original yellow one and no where did I say Vivitan is the only Chun (or first) to do it, I can do it, just that the constant legs pressure is a trademark of Vivitan play more so than Y24. I’m glad you came on here to correct a Chun mainer but I think you missed the fact I was been lighthearted about it all…

And I mentioned Vivitan because (as everyone on here knows) I LIKE vivitan, maybe a little too much lol. Anyway you should be finding Chun matches to upload as literally one one does

BTW I like your uploads

Y24 > Vivitan imo.

uh huh, thanks anyways

In terms of overall Chun ability sure, but vivitan is my fave Chun… The worlds best doesn’t always mean the same as a personal favourite… I mean aside from vivitan I also have a soft spot for Rockhowar(d) and our very own Meeks. Both of which I admire for the combination of tech and playstyle as well as ability. Just cos I like their Chun’s more than Y24’s (neither of you get a big head over that lol) does not mean I can’t see that his Chun is at this moment in time probably the best or at the very least in the top 2 or 3 in the world.

I just like what I like lol but I wouldn’t argue with you that Y24 is a better all round Chun than vivitan, its just everyone has their favs right?
