pretty good vid of RF. A lot of the recent 3v3 vids with this pro team vs some lower bp guys are basically rape shows if you haven’t watched them alrdy.
This is a great page. Lots of good matches and I really like how you can pick/choose matchups! In only a few minutes of watching I already learned a few things. Thanks!!
Kai can learn a lot by coming to these forums. He won based off of instinct, which is great, but he can use Chun’s tools better with his natural skill.
Threw together kind of a trailer for my video tutorial Im gonna make for Chun’s Super and Ultra combo
The more advanced version will display the buttons being hit, common mistakes made, proper spacing, more combos, better quality video, etc
Video is here
So its basically this but with a different more damaging start. Nice
hmm I never knew Chun players were into metal…not that I am, but I have a perfect song for Chun…I just need to learn how to video edit -_-.
Ya it needs a better song when do the new version. Just cant think of anything. I just picked Carrion because it was the same length as the video and I hate butchering songs just so it fits video length

I have plenty more if you don’t like that one
Here’s from a final I played last saturday, it was a pretty big tourney with 30 participants or something. Anyway so far only the finals are up but I think winners finals got capped as well.
I don’t know much about the Chun vs. Rufus matchup so I kind of winged it, tips are appriciated.

THATS PERFECT DUDE! exactly what i was looking for… notice how RF fakes so many fireballs versus the honda player? he RARELY does that versus the pros, and i’m guessing that its because they dont jump so much… i dont think he had ever played that honda before… THIS kind of video shows scrubbusting at its best!
-edit REALLY good use of jabfake versus the ryu also… i always wondered how these guys dealt with people who were always aggressively jumping forward against fireballs and or just always looking to to jump forward over fireballs… now i know… everytime RF thinks the guy might jump over a fireball, he throws out a jabfake while looking for the jump… if he sees no jump he immediately throws out a firball… versus the honda he used the same pattern in the first round… the switched it up in the second round by adding in a slight pause after the jabfake in case honda had figured out the pattern from the first round.
good shit.

oooooh me likes  pretty like chun-li!.

I’ll def use something more Chun when I upload the finished product. Thats a good song I might just use that one
Very nice, very nice Skatan. The only thing I have extra to say is to jump in after EX legs combos, either safe jump or late jumps (so that reversal EX jesus goes over you, but use sparingly since they can time it later). As well as jumping back from wake up EX jesus and punishing it.
There were some times where the situation called for a jump back roundhouse, or jump back forward…just to get a little pressure off of you. Also, he liked 1 tick into throw, just crouch low and try and tech it, unless he does short -> fierce -> torando, but I didn’t see much of that in the video.
Excellent play though, you were doing things I wanted you to do, and that I would do in the same situation. Even the times where you got hit, are the times I would have too. So I can’t give you much more advice, already good gameplay by you.
I watched it again, one last thing is here’s a list of Rufus’ players gimmicky shit that they will try a few times a match.
Watch for the EX jesus in these situations:
His roll kick (d/f+forward)
Overhead (f+forward)
Blocked tornado
Whiffed dive kick (just block if he lands in front of you, or walk back to get out of throw range)
Empty jump/jump around empty (this is pretty tricky, but just keep blocking).
I noticed that guy doesn’t use EX tornado much…but he has some gimmicks like d/f+roundhouse (hit) low short, EX tornado…it doesn’t combo but it’s a string you can press buttons from, so just keep blocking there too.
After EX legs, I know I can put some jump pressure there it’s just that I haven’t got the timing down pat for safejumps in this game since I’m used to ST, so I don’t wanna do anything risky in a tournament enviroment. But I will definitley be thinking more of doing that after ex legs now.
I haven’t gotten used to using jump back rh/mk to get away, I tend to rely more on backdash than anything else since it’s simply very, very good. I only use jump back rh to get away from jumpins and even then I’m still not sure on when I can do it or not. I need to experiement some more with that.
I was actually trying to break throws the whole time but I think I wasn’t accurate enough on my breaks since I just kept getting thrown, and me attempting to break throws is also why tornado connects several times in the corner, it hurt a lot, lol.
I’m also well aware of the fact that I get hit by way too many ex messiah’s, I need to play more vs. this character so I can know what to expect.
Some specific stuff I was thinking about.
What’s the best way to punish Rufus j.rh, and is it possible to beat it out in the air with j.mk, feels a bit too risky though.
Is focus attack really useful against him the only places I can think of it coming in handy is cr.hp, df+mk and divekick (cancel it into backdash). He seems to be poking too quick for me to actually be able to use it for anything else than building meter. Pretty much all of his specials beat out focus attack so not much to do there.
EX tornado I noticed I can do ultra on as long as I don’t block the hit.
Thanks for the compliment and the tips, I will keep that in mind when I play against a Rufus the next time!
You did alot better than I would against that Rufus player. I don’t like trying to risk beating Rufus air-to-air though. That kick into ex-snake strikes takes such a dent out of Chun-Li’s healthbar. Yea, I’m not really gonna offer advice except to say, I enjoyed watching you beat him. You really deserved that ultra that whiffed in the second match to land ^^.
Also, isn’t focus okay to use against Rufus at long range? He has that long-range down fierce poke thats susceptible to getting focus’d. You were doing well at zoning the stuffing out of him at that range anyway, I can’t even remember seeing him throw it.
UnknownEnemyZero, you’re right about Kai’s cl.mk. When I said I liked it, I already realised that as a damage option it’s not good; but I just didn’t expect to see it ^^. I guess I liked the novelty of it.
Hmm well I really haven’t put thought into it, but the way I punish j.rh is to either walk under (to get away from the corner) or just walk up and low short x 2 into EX legs.
As for focus attack, not really since he can EX jesus when he lands. You should just focus absorb and back dash out, and I usually back dash again for good measure. Keep in mind that you want to avoid the corner, since he has too many options there.
Kikoken beats Rufus low fierce, as long as you do it before he hits you out of the animation. Kind of like how it beats Dhalsims limbs in the same circumstances.
Yeah if he whiffs any tornado, ultra his ass. Most commonly is when they don’t see your meter, and then you throw a kikoken, and they try to fierce tornado and go through, you can hit them there too. You don’t even have to wait, which is cool.

Just though I would throw this in here. An classic video that applies to every sport I can think of, hopefully with the new DLC recording matches will be easy.
Kinda embarrassed to post these cos its far from my best but whatev. Also, sorries about the vid being so retardedly close to the screen.

After rewatching, I can see that I went for too many jump in crossups, relied too much on kikokens and didn’t do enough with blockstrings. This guy was pretty good though.
3 - You Shuai (Blanka) vs. Tian Ren (Chun Li) @ 1:24
The best way to counter Blanka’s Ultra. I’ve tested this a few times and it’s really easy. You can’t be too close, but max range c.MK is the best spacing as it is enough to bait your opponent into using it and makes sure you don’t get hit during the startup frames of your jump.
