Chun-li Video/Discussion Thread

how does chun beat fei 6-4? I must know this technology

He said its not actually in her favor… Fei has a suite of options that makes it difficult for her. At best, I would say 5-5… This mayyyy change after ae2012. I have to read the frame data again.

I think it’s a 5-5 match but here’s a great vid of Lud handling Steve H’s Fei Long (@ 3:15)

Loved this match a lot (saving it actually). It’s funny… you play like this against people online and they get ALL bent out of shape.

“You play like a bitch.”
“Turtle more.”
(Enter more excessively salty remarks here.)

People need to understand that this is just smart play, balancing your offense/defense without sacrificing loss of health.

To do it ‘right’ too, I feel, requires a really solid understanding of match ups. Thats why when I try it-- I can’t do it. Not that I don’t know what characters can go over or under or through fireballs etc., but yep just not good enough.

Here is an image:

Not new matches but a collection of Y24 playing some pretty on point Chun, I think everyone here will have seen all these but they are all together here, sorry if its been posted before and to any newer Chun’s how don’t know Y24, this guy can play lol, lots of tips to be learnt here for the influx of newer members…

Lovely vid, if only it was in better quality, but this will do. :woot:

That first match always makes me shake my head–
I’ve never–ever fought an Abel that hangs back like that. I’ve tried this very tactic several months back after I saw it.
They always roll in on me (which I can throw them) or they do that leg drop move, the elbow rush etc.,
I personally just think the dude was scared to play Y24. In fact I think I’ll go back and watch more his vids. After playing 3S I rarely use kikoukens in that game I mean they only fly 2 feet anyway and Y24 rarely use them here.

Just a ‘be mindful’ tid bit for the newer Chun players – You’ll see Y24 using the jump back HK over head on an opponents wake up. this is great online for characters without a dragon punch, but if that character has a DP like that Akuma player @ about 12: 30 – You’ll eat the DP 99% of the time online. Its the immediate mash move for any shoto player online and frankly makes me want to hurl.

The Abel plays like that cos he knows he can’t just rush in on Chun… Seriously Chun destroys Abel if he tries to just get in all the time and he was probably respecting Y24 enough not to do COD as it is like the worst way to get in… If you punish Abels for stupid things they should start playing you more respectfully. Easier said then done lol, I know your pain in this match just remember though it is in Chun’s favour but yeah I hate seeing high level Japanese play with the amount of respect shown to each player. Bet they’d get a shock jumping online in the UK or US lol…

Yeah I also use Kikoken too much I think it was Skatan that said he had stopped using them unless he was full screen away, I think they are only really useful to zone with from FAR away. I really must stop using them as I do I know I have bad Kikoken habits :frowning:

In terms of jump back HK, timed right it beats most options but isn’t safe even on hit against nearly everyone in the cast, its just a yomi thing I guess, still I popped up the video mainly cos I’ve seen a lot of new faces and Y24 get little exposure at the moment and he is a beast, and a really pretty clean Chun as well

Oh yeah definately! I totally dig his play style, which is why I went ahead and rewatched the video earlier today.
I gotta see more of Meeks too – where is my favorite Chun player been yo!? LoL, gotta start watching his brothers Ibuki videos too, starting to take her more seriously.

What about my Ibuki Vids :frowning: LOL

Alexander Sanchez coined that term, heard him saying that at the Arcades in cali before anyone else.

I’ve actually been away on holidays for the greater part of 3 months, and have barely touched the game. I recently got engaged so I have been pretty much a little out of touch with gaming, though I assure you, with the impending 2012 patch coming, I do not intend on giving up this game anytime soon. I did, however, have some games at the arcade last week, and my time away is really telling. I missed my cr.hp xx legs loop about 50-60% of the time :frowning:

New vids ._.

Wii – Nothing wrong with your Ibuki at all mate, lol! In fact if we can get our asses on at the same time again I’d like to practice with ya–being about 10 hours apart doesn’t help matters, LOL!

Meeks – Congrats yo! Good to see ya too. You’ll get back to whoop’n’ ass in due time

Really nice play Cardell. Love your work

Thanks. I played a couple of games today and might upload a few games.

Yeah I sent you a reply on Xbox, I’ve done my back in at the moment so I’m on REALLY strong pain killers currently so my play has been a little erratic last few days. Like yesterday I went random character cos a mate joined my lobby so was just gonna mess around. Apparently I was in ranked so getting Gen in random select wasn’t fun. There’s 150 points I’ll never get back lol. Damn pain killers :frowning:

But sure I’ll play ya sometime I’m on and I see you on, although the lag will mean I doubt either of us will be able to take it seriously, that’s the issue with living on a different continent to the guys you talk to on a forum though (I’m sure Meeks feels my pain more, given his location and the apparent 3rd world internet Australia apparently has)… Also being married gives me a smaller window of SF time and my wife currently (and indefinitely) has certain needs that are FAR more important then SF could ever be so getting us together is never gonna be easy.

Speaking of Wifes

Meeks: I’m pretty sure I don’t need to go over this again mate but I’m just gonna make my congrats public  Also yeah upload some matches you know I like your style…

Jae–first off love that outfit! reminds me of her bedroom fight with Vega in the anime only her shirt was yellow, haha.
Anyway Good Games man, I thought you guys were pretty even really - unless he had in you the corner he really knew how to lay on the pressure. You definately played your best when you were aggressive. I can’t really give you any advice because I don’t feel I would have done any better although I do really like U1 in this match up simply because it can punish MGB and with your play style you didn’t go for EX legs - ending combos to juggle into U2. Otherwise like I said you looked pretty good to me, I yelled ‘SHIT!’ when you missed the Hp into Super. I miss that too!
