Chun-li Video/Discussion Thread

actually sometimes not being flowchart it could means that you are facing a mu with suboptimal decisions, therefore losing, provided that your opponent is playing the mu by the book that is, ie. jumping out of nowhere into a full charged ryu/sim, we all know that situation and we all know how bad is to jump like that and yet there are players that just do it, if the opponent is good enough he will punish that because is the obvious outcome and even then i have saw this same situation in clutch matches and the one jumping gets away w/o being punished (if you read it carefully you could notice the word clutch, with that in mind decisions shouldn´t be classified as either right or wrong but more like “this decision is better than this one, given this scenario” instead) we always say “do not jump in sf, is bad” but the reality behind that is more like “do not jump w/o a purpose or a real reason”, i do jump a lot only if my opponent let me, otherwise i just dont do it, i havent fought players like daigo and such, but hey until then im going to jump if daigo let me do it.

edit.

feel free to correct me in any form :), that being said that set was very short to jump into any conclusions and for that i apologize, i will be more careful with my posting, not only to you but every other chun in this boards, im going to read now your message btw.

LOL the sets weren’t actually short and I’d not term them sets as in both cases it was played casually and in conversation over headsets. I played a lot of games against both (as I always do when playing people I know as although its often but not always casual its a training session to people). I couldn’t upload all the games from these session as that would just have been crazy (too many) but I picked games in which I felt I got exposed on purpose (plus a win from each cos I did get a fair few, its just that wasn’t the what I was uploading them for)…

Anyway this thread is off topic now so that’s the end of that

damn it i cant get it right xD

i mean it was short compare to an hour of footage (like the one YT rejected me last night, damn i was salty), im pretty sure that you dont play 4 fights with each opponent in casuals :B

The word flowchart was used 31 times on this page (err 32 times). That is all.

edit: DAMN I read it too many times now it’s not a real word!!!

:frowning:

Kayane on stream!!!

she lost damn it ;_;

Ugh – DeeJay was definitely on the lame wagon. Sat on db quite a bit – which could have been punished by short/medium HSU.

  • Heavily abusing st. strong and st. rh would have kept him honest from advancing forward.
  • U1 owns heavy projectile usage (the player knew this and only used it to counter when Kayane launched one of her own).

His buffs in AE have definitely made him more formidable…looking forward to seeing her emerge from losers and blow ppl up.

the mu itself its something like 6-4 to chun imo, specially because shor sobats wont go over chun cr.hk (its very difficult for dj to deal with this poke, i have been using dj in the past and the mu is pretty god damn hard against decent chuns) and given the reach of many pokes of chun is very easy to punish poorly spaced sobats overall. Totally agree with the u1 against fireballs

Yeah. CR. MK is very good; without it ever having to be connected with the crouching jab strings. Short Sobat is also effective since he’s +1 on block, so it’s practically impossible to punish. Factor this in with “Guile-esque” shenanigans and it can certainly be an uphill battle. I used to have some footage against DeeJay – maybe I’ll find some players tonight.

wut? +1? they are -5 lk, -7 mk , -9 hk and -8 EX. They are very hard to space mainly because the sobats only have 2 actives frames, you need to use proper blockstrings to space them, and even yet chun can punish fairly easily (in order to make a sobat safe you have to use pushback rather than frame adv., and the mk and hk version are safer only if the first hits whiff and the second hits)

edit. kayane is eliminated from evo, she lost to some chun player, wonder who he was.

WHOOOPS – got my data mixed up with EX Slasher, which is +1.

Btw – you stated LK is -5 on LK, just went back and researched it (miss having the frame data on my smartphone) states this is actually -6…

However, this is hard for me to accept because I’ve always found this version is difficult to punish (I should investigate if Super will work).

i wonder why nobody mentioned that she keep’t pressing buttons and not blocking much( lol ex LL randomly for the round). within 30s in the beginning in each match ex sbk came out. it’s not a move i really depend on too much. c.rh too much also. maybe she was nervous but she still went for so many gimmicks i wouldn’t try. i guess i get upset when i see gimmicks actually work out in someones favor.

Eh, I was trying to keep it classy. I was surprised by the usage of EX SBK given her level of experience. It’s my opinion that she isn’t very fond of that MU and was going through tournament jitters.

I am sure, like many players, would have been nervous too.

in AE is -5, in super it was -6. Its difficult to punish only if they hit with the tip, and yet dj best option is to block cuz cr.lk could tag him, idk about super a max range lk sobat tho.

the dj wasnt punishing that hard imo, he was good on timing the safe jump but he wasn´t doing any damage off of it tbh, and about the cr.hk dj best option is to focus bait it, if he doesnt do that why bother in spamming or not cr.hk too much, just do it until you get punished.

Eventhubs data is incorrect then…

As for the DeeJay player, sorry, but he really wasn’t that great. Kayane really shouldn’t have lost to him.

bahn dont take this the wrong way but why in hell do you use eventhubs for any information? specially when srk do have the proper framedata for each character in AE. Man i really hate eventhubs, every time you click this site a koala gets kill /jk

but yeah im not a great fan of eventhubs specially with the whole maj drama back then.

LOL

check your inbox

No offense taken. I went there because I was using them as a cross-reference.

Gilley (who I am sure you know is a regular here on SRK) actually assisted them with the frame data for DeeJay. As it turns out, I was looking at data for Super… took me sometime to locate the data for AE.

And as for “information”, several websites that affiliated with SRK circulate the same news, which has become a common practice with websites which make up a network.

So while I know you post meant no offense, you’re jumping the gun. Maj drama notwithstanding, it’s not that serious bro. Relax.

In other news, I managed to come across a DeeJay player who reminded me a LOT of the player who went against Kayane; may post that footage later this evening.
