Chun-li Video/Discussion Thread

yeah that was accidental lol, I was supposed to do just a normal MK SBK… damn Sanwa buttons lol. I would’ve broke something if he came back after that lol.

Kikoken at the start of the match… I usually do it a second or two after the match starts, just to see what the opponent does first… other times, it’s cuz I don’t think lol

But yeah Chun’s pokes is her ultimate weapon against Rufus. st.HP, st. LP or cr.LP (situational) are good for stuffing his dive kicks. As you saw in the second match, first round, I stuffed a good chunk of his dive kicks and other jump-in attempts to a point where he eventually got dizzy lol

Grrr but Rufus is so nasty… his setups are so simple and they do SO much damage… and his fricken Jesus kick… God almighty…

Yeah Fuerte and Gen are way harder than Viper, I don’t even need practice to play Viper on the side and hit her double fierce feints/string+throw+bait cancels down. She’s really fun though.

Oh btw Dime, I’m starting to pick up Cammy. She’s good shit, I have my own way of using her and trying to make her effective though. I figured I’d just throw it here instead of making two separate posts lol.

edit: - dime. JK LOL

That was quite a random SBK @ 0:40 dimedime

But I would have failed at fighting that Viper. Woulda been an easy 2 Perfects for that guy

You know what I hate about Viper? Without that suit and its powers, she is NOTHING >_>

yeah… that dumb hoe was fuckin wit my head…

the hate runs deep.
these bitches dont like each other.

also i totally forgot about gen… yeah him and fuerte are tied slight nod going to gen tho.

I know this video is old but its still help for some starting out Chun li.

ill take all i can use thanks

I don’t wanna flood this channel with links to my vids so I’m just letting you all know that I have a youtube channel up where I will be uploading many matches. Comments and shit talking is welcome. Just FYI.

Good stuff on the Abel match… can be used as a practical example to any Chun player inexperienced with the matchup. Especially liked the crossup->instant overhead stomp mixup at the end.

Edit: I think you should link some more of your videos in this thread, really solid play.

Does anyone have any good videos playing against really aggressive Kens? A lot of the high level videos I’ve watched are played against more conservative players, and I find that I handle those kind of players fairly well. It seems the only kinds of players I don’t handle well are the ones that come right after you leaving you very little time to retaliate. There’s info about this in other threads but some videos showing it would be nice. Thanks.

hey dime, just a question about that c viper match…are like most of her attacks FA breaking non-ex? cause i noticed a few times she jumped directly over your head when you were on wakeup that possibly FA could be another counter that chun could use since she doesn’t really have any direct vertical AA move whatsoever (besides ex sbk)

good question xx!

fa works versus burning kicks of bs… problem is that she usually crosses up with them or does her jumping roundhouse to st/cr fierce ex seismo combo of bs… both can hit chun out of her ex sbk easily so thats not a great option, but fa CAN get you out og harms way… but is NOT a guaranteed counter, for instance if i fa and viper does NON-crossup jumping roundhouse into combo i’ll actually fa cancel TOWARD her thinking that she was crossing me up… if i guessed right however my dash will dash away but she can just dash after chun and get the throw/combo/punish move, for free…

i’ve fa’d vipers non-crossup burning kick into a forward dash into an attempted throw… only to have her recover before me and throw me out of my dash… i’ve done the same thing when she was higher in the air with the burning kick and tried to punish her with my cr.hk after my dash was done only to have her be able to block it…

fa does work… slightly, but in the end its just leaves you at another mixup game after you absorb her burning kick…

oh yeah if she anticipates the fa she can wiff the burning kick then throw you when she lands…

this is versus a good viper though, shitty ones you can probably get away with abusing fa as aa’s probably.

-okgo… look up edma from arcade infinity sf4

that viper is simply amazing. thats the first time ive seen her playd top tier like that. i am definately going to be giving her a test drive. so dime you think chun is harder to win with then viper?

yes… viper has shoto esque qualities like her dp and burning kick, plus that damn character is based on jumping… any character thats based around jumping gets it easy on the ground cause people are trying to stop there jumping game.

also viper doesnt have to prove her offense like chun does… viper can mix you up from 1/2 screen for the knock down and then add damage to it with her air wakeup game mixups.

strategically viper is easy to the point of redundancy… the only thing you need to get down with her is her execution boundary (which isnt all that hard) and her (exact same as chun… ) low hp.

once you get those 2 things down shes a fast character that does oodles of damage, controls the screen with seismo and has total control of where shes at in proximity to the opponents character at damn near all times…

she only has one real weakness and thats her lack of a fireball…

yeah whatever on that one.

-edit oh yeah… i’m ridiculously biased against her (always have been for some reason)… so take all of that with a grain of salt.

Some online casual mirror matches with Hugeballs… video quality is crazy on HD, but I dunno that new HD function on youtube doesn’t work properly for me… it would be very choppy and not smooth… does this happen to anyone else?

Anyways, here they are:

Yeah it happens to me at times, mostly when the video is in the HD format where it goes into wide screen (which yours is).

The usual problem from that is your computer can’t handle HD quality. I’ve a 5 year old laptop that runs HD youtube quality like shit, but I have a desktop with a good video card and dual core processor that can run them just fine.

i’m confused by the sarcasm - humor here… or is it not sarcastic and humorous…

Nice Chun gameplay rewarding with a victory over Rufus.

Though, I don’t agree with his style, nor of Nemo’s, they play way too aggro and risky…they just might have a threat that I don’t put in my opponents to be doing all that shit though. He plays EXACTLY like Nemo, so if it isn’t him (doesn’t look like it on the ID card) then he’s definitely a student of Nemo.

One thing I do like, is that I noticed that I’m correct about low forward/low strong ducking EX jesus kick. He did it to kill off Rufus the first round, which makes me want to practice the timing down later on 100%.

Thanks to everyone for posting up vids. They are very fun to watch. Those of us who do not have the time to look for vids REALLY appreciate the research. I especially enjoy the Nagoya Street Battles. Updates on those would be greatly appreciated. Those are my favorites. If you see ANY Chun Nagoya Battles please post them. Again, thanks everyone!
