I’m having trouble figuring out how to make Chun-Li and Vergil work as a team. Do I really have no choice but to use an otg assist or do I have other options.
There’s only so many characters I actually want to use, but here’s a list of characters I’m curious to see to make possible teams with Chun and Vergil, if not who could I replace Vergil with?
Jill Valentine, Morrigan, Phoenix wright, Strider Hiryu, Trish, Nemesis T-Type, Deadpool, Dormammu, Nova, Phoenix, Ghost Rider, Akuma, Zero
I think using Deadpool’s OTG assist would work nicely. The only other characters I would consider from that list are Strider, Nova, and Akuma, since they have good assists for your neutral game, though Strider’s Vajra would be a little awkward to incorporate.
The nice thing with Chun/Vergil/Deadpool (or Chun/Deadpool/Vergil) is that you get an easy combo extension from Deadpool for both of your characters. It also allows you to spam j.:d::h: with Vergil for full combos. Vergil and Deadpool just seem like they would go really well together. Both are scary anchors, both have great DHCs, Vergil can use Deadpool for combo extension (call in assist during Lunar Phase to reset groundbounce), and Deadpool can abuse Rapid Slash for pushing away the opponent and spraying bullets as well as using it for teleport mixups… could be really tricky since you can teleport cancel guns, and if the guns hit, Rapid Slash could pick them up for you to combo after the teleport. If they block, they might have to block the cross up if the guns don’t do much blockstun. If they block that, you can go low or do his overhead… which for some reason can cross up when you are right next to them at times. I might actually consider making a team with Deadpool/Vergil now…
Phoenix anchor can still work. Chun stalls and builds the meter, and you had better have a very good 3rd character to round out the team. It’s a lot more work than in Vanilla though. You have to familiarize yourself with many of the anti-Phoenix techs that have been developed since then.
A Chun/Vergil/Phoenix team probably isn’t the best idea, since both Vergil and Phoenix both need meter to be really scary and effective. It could work, but it would take a lot of careful and smart decisions to keep the team alive, since each character can easily die in one combo, compounded by the fact that they cannot use meter until Phoenix goes dark.
Ah, yeah sorry for missing that. Good partners for Chun individually, def not easy to have Phoenix and Vergil on the same team…as soon as the other guy sees Phoenix without the full bar, they’ll go nuts.
I think Nem might work, but I’m unsure of his position on the team. Sound DHC chemistry with Chun if nothing else. Nova can pretty much work with any team too.
I’ve caved and used magneto with EM disruptor assist as a third for the Chun Li/Vergil team. However, i’m still experimenting with different combinations cause that’s the real fun in this game, not just the competition, lol.
