How do u deal with that seroid using asshole Zangief i know there’s theard but i need more info
Chun has a lot of great combo coming off the J.HP but it’s can be easily anti-aired wat a good setup for the J.HP
Sometimes I can focus 1 hit jump in attacks and hit the focus but other times ill get dragon punched as the focus is hitting. Just wondering if it’s impossible to land the focus before they dragonpunch or if my timing’s off.
I’ve read that, but I can’t tell what’s the difference between 8 ms and 30 ms. I’m trying to find a comparison that I know (the timing between two chained C.MP’s) to understand if the amount of lag I’m seeing is similar to what other people are seeing.
I’m not great and I don’t play really good Zangiefs, but basically what I do is just try to poke using HP, HK, jumping straight up HK, jump back HK, sweep. If they lariat, wait a bit, then sweep. Stay away from them at all costs because it seems they can throw you after you do anything up close. He’s just a huge pain to play.
I’m having a really hard time dealing with shotos, or more specifically, AA’ing/ punishing them. Every time my friend plays with a shoto, he just jumps at me for free. I try several of the AA, but they all seem to get stuffed. EX SBK is unreilable for me due to charge.
Then I’d suggest http://www.eventhubs.com/guides/2008/nov/13/chun-li-frame-data-street-fighter-4/
If you can easily notice the lag, its more than 8 ms, probably even more than 20.
From that data guide I would say try doing close light kick into far light punch. If you can’t do it without pre-buffering the far light punch, you’ve got more than a frame(17ms) of lag.
Question on cr.lk, EX legs into Ultra in the corner. Why does some characters get full hit from the Ultra, while some does not? Is it character specific, or is it my timing of the Ultra?
Since AA is dependent on:
- Prediction
- Position
Sometimes it’s best to avoid it all together. Now this can mean blocking, but you have to guess right to not get hurt, and even then you might be forced to take some chip damage.
So why not avoid it all together? Dash outta the way and try to get better position next time.
Yah – I used to try focusing all air attacks, but sometimes players jump in and start spamming with another attack (i.e. dp). Nothing is more aggravating than doing a focus attack and getting punished with an armor breaking move. I agree with Ark about just avoiding it all together and simply dash forward/backwards for better positioning.
If they’re doing jump in something into shoryu, you can backdash it if you time it right and punish it.
Yes it’s character specific. Some characters will fall out of Chun-Li’s ultra before the launcher part. It can be somewhat dependant on your spacing when you start the ultra; For instance if you hit Guile with Chun-Li’s ultra so he just about arrives at the corner, the full ultra will connect, otherwise he falls out early. Azrael listed most of them in the Chun-Li Moveset and Attributes original post.
I’m not entirely sure on all the console characters, but at least Akuma and Gouken fall out of her ultra early too. If you can do ex.sbk->ultra you can land full ultra on a few of those characters that otherwise fall out, Guile, Abel & C.Viper for instance. The SBK gives them a different launch height, although it isn’t so easy to land/space/execute as ex.legs. It’s also interesting to note cr.mk->ex.sbk always sends them towards the corner you are facing towards, no matter how close you are to it; It doesn’t give many more practical opportunities to land the full ultra juggle though.
I think this is the complete list from what I’ve tested:
Abel
Akuma
Boxer
Cammy
C.Viper
Chun-Li
Dictator
El Fuerte
Fei-Long
Gouken
Guile
Sakura
What’s your character usage and why?
- Chun-Li 708
- C. Viper 407
- Ken 304
- Ryu 272
- M. Bison (Dictator) 200
- Akuma 191
- Rose 132
- Balrog (Boxer) 89
Chun - The reason why we’re here, cuz she’s our main!
Viper - I think she’s one of the best characters. I have my reasons but when someone plays her conservatively…or more players rather, she’ll be a threat.
Ken - Used to be my main when I first got my hands in the game. At the time, no one was using Chun Li and I had no one to learn from. I was playing 3rd strike before I played SF4…and back then I didn’t believe the hype until I played it. So ‘ramza’ taught me some Ken…and it was fun playing him and SF4 ever since.
Ryu - Good online character, but the main reason I like him is because he’s all fundamentals.
M. Bison (Dictator) - Another character that I think is one of the best, but not well-known yet. The reason I like this character so much is because he has all the tools of a pixie character (feels like a combination of Chun and Akuma) but has the vitality of a regular character. If someone happens to do something I haven’t seen before, I can always get back in the game quick with Bison’s vitality, and his tools. All around an excellent character, IMO.
Akuma - I think this is another top character in the game when used right. Very few examples to show, but when played clean…he gets pretty close to unstoppable, more so than Sagat IMHO.
Rose - Man, was a huge letdown to find out she’s a nerfed Guile with a slide. . I used to main her when console came out. Chun’s here to stay though, Rose don’t got shit on her. Can’t say I didn’t try though, I really did.
Balrog (Boxer) - I don’t even want this guy on my list. I’m ashamed to use him. Scrub character lol. If someone keeps joining my game with 2 bars, this is what they get.
Chun-Li 2808
Sakura 99
C.Viper 72
Cammy 20
Sadly Rose isn’t nr.5, but, it’s all about the ladies Oo. I play Sakura a bit, she’s the only other character I guess I actually do play. The C.Viper numbers are from when I first got the game and thought I would just tough it out and learn Viper on a pad… But, that didn’t work out ^^. I like Cammy but I’m not particularly good with her, besides a few rubbish FADC’s I can do, I just end up looking like your average flowchart Cammy.
I like Sakura, her moves feel really satisfying and I like her reset’s after ex.tatsu. It also makes me think differently from Chun-Li, as she’s so much slower, has a much worse backdash and her normals are widely different. I really like cr.fp as an anti-air though, there’s no chance in hell you can miss-time that thing, its a mini-shoryuken. The only part of her moveset that irks me is her fireball, but she makes up for it with being able to hit-confirm cr.mk poke into shououken.
Chun-Li: 3435
M. Bison: 239
Gouken: 95
Chun just because I usually gel with one and only one character every fighting game I play. M. Bison because he was netting easy wins early on when I didn’t know Chun’s matchups. Gouken because getting beat by gouken pros is inspiring. :lovin:
Don’t have the numbers in front of me, but I use:
- Chun Li
- Rose
- Rufus
- Balrog (Boxer)
Used Chun Li since the first SF2. Didn’t play a lot of the Alpha series but I always liked Rose when I did play.
Tried a bunch of other characters and Rufus and Balrog were the ones that I seemed to pick up the easiest. The high stamina gives a bit of a relief after usually using low-stamina characters.
I love this game but I’m nowhere near a competitive player. For my secondary characters I just want to learn some BnBs and be good enough to be competitive with my friends.
1 Chun 589
2 Ryu 586
3 Vega 308
4 Rufus 305
5 Viper 154
6 Ken 124
7 Balrog 101
It drops here and bison is next at 67.
-
She’s fast, versatile has mixups, she’s never my main first in any sf game, but somehow I make my way to her.
-
Strong whiff punishment, easy to land ultra, upper tier=evilj type of character. plus he’s a shoto, and shoto vs shoto matches take skill imo unlike a lot of other mirror matches. First character I picked in the arcades.
-
I have no idea why this is so high. Vega was my first main, then I dropped him, but then I played with Bebop here and he opened my eyes to how good Vega can be. A bunch of these games are me playing Vega against my friend’s Ryu.
-
Strong whiff punishment, easy to land ultra, upper tier, the best move in the game (ex messiah)=evilj type of character. Second character I picked in the arcades.
-
This should be a lot higher. I don’t know why it’s so low, all I play is viper now. She’s the most fun character, but I don’t think she’s THAT good. Definitely fun to use her against sagat and sometimes balrog.
-
No idea why this is so high. I don’t touch him anymore. I used him to “test” my opponents to see if they are actually good, I use him to get in on a sagat, and I use him to piss people off with flowchart ken tactics mixed in with real tactics.
-
This nigga is good. Any scrub can use him. I beat sagats and other people I normally don’t beat with my mains with him.
-
If you want to play Vega, you might as well play Bison because he’s the same except way better.
Chun
Rufus
Viper
Balrog
Abel
Zangief
Ryu
Rose
Chun - Well I’ve always been good with her even though I never liked how she plays. It’s pretty much the only reason I play her. The only thing I really like about her is her walk speed and pokes. I’m pretty sure if I play Chun/Storm/Psylocke it would be better than my Mag/Storm/Psy. Almost forgot to say that I feel she has few bad matchups…viper, sagat, rufus, seth, all very winnable. I do not like see-saw matchups period.
Rufus - I suck with Rufus. Rush down is fun though. I simply cannot do his BNB (dive kick, s.lk,s.hp,molesting tornado) to save my life, I get it about 35% of the time. I don’t like the following matches though : people w/dps, sagat, and zangief. Gat and gief are just retarded for me personally.
Viper - Same as Rufus. I also do not have the execution to play Viper, but she is the most fun to play in the game. She feels like a walking mix up though. I’m either winning big with her or losing big. No lie guys…I felt some carpal tunnel symptoms and finger pain from playing viper. Very input intensive character. Her style is very unique, I still don’t quite understand how to play as her even though I spend a lot of time trying to learn her, I’ve hit a wall. She just feels like a walking wild card to me.
Balrog - Not much a fan of Balrog in this game. I picked him up here because I thought he would be like SF2 Rog. Nope, not really the same, but they do have the same philosophy. Tons of people also play rog, I suck at mirror matches, he would’ve been my main had it not been for the fact lots of people use him.
Abel - Abel is very fun. I don’t have the execution to play as him either lol, but it’s better than my viper and rufus execution. I’m planning on using him as a secondoary or third character. I just like being in people’s faces, it’s too fun. He has some bad match ups which is why he’s going to end up being a third most likely.
Zangief - I was thinking of picking him up to learn the game. I don’t think you have to have poongko-esque execution to be good with him. Only his BNB is hard for me. The thing is the game becomes very, very, slow when gief is in the game. It doesn’t matter who he’s playing against. I like to cut to the chase, I don’t like long games. also, he’s boring and cheesy
Ryu - He has tools for everything, unfortunately I don’t have the execution to play him, I mess up links, I cannot combo into ultra on a consistent basis. He would be my secondary if it were not for my horrible execution.
Rose - Is she the worst character in the game? I was thinking of picking her as a main too, but she is total ass.
I notice the common theme here is that I cannot combo worth a damn lol. I still don’t know who to play as a secondary character, but my choice will be to cover chun’s bad matchups. If you got any advice on who I should pick, I’d like to hear it because I don’t know who to pick.
