Chun-li Q&A: Ask simple questions here!

Quick Blanka question, hopefully this isn’t a stupid question, I have been having problems punishing Blanka balls with Ultra, I was wondering how fast Blanka recovers from a horizontal ball. Everytime I try to punish it, either I did it too late and it gets blocked or a partial of my ultra hits and Blanka gets pushed back .

It depends on the type of Blanka ball. Ex Blanka balls recover faster, so you need to be alittle more precise on the timing. Refer to . You need to wait til Blanka is about half way or 2/3 done with his decent from the peak of his time in the air. I also punish another Ex horizontal ball with Ultra in the 3rd round.

For regular horizontal balls, you need to wait til he’s even closer to the ground, or he will juggle out of it. If you juggle him out of it a lot, try being just a bit more patient. I myself were able to get the timing down mid match one time and rarely mess it up now, but if you need to go into Training Mode, record a Blanka ball and practice punishing it. You’ll get the timing down soon enough

Also, other than the Ultra punishing, dont pay attention to my play in that vid, it was absolutely atrocious

Kind of an odd question but it has been bugging me for a while now.

What is the best way to practice uncommon match-ups? The last few times I have faced against a Gen player I got crushed since I had no idea what was the best method against him.

I do sometimes use training mode and record to find out if I can punished certain attacks or not, while this helps it just doesn’t seem like enough.

Add people who play those uncommon characters.

Haha. That’s pretty much it in a nutshell. Befriend people you come across that play with characters you’re struggling with. It’s been mentioned by parabellum if I remember correctly and by far - that’s the best way to learn. If you have someone that can use a variety of characters – that’s an added bonus.

p.s. saw your replay today… that Chun player wasn’t even on your level… so free for you.

Yeah the finals where not very fun , I liked how when he was dizzy I tried to charge down for a C. FP -> Med. SBK but than half way through the charge was like screw it and just did a throw.

I think I saw a list of moves that Chun can punish on block with Super or Ultra. Does anyone know where that is?

Edit: Thx Delita

Here it is

Is her air to air JF.RH unsafe on hit? I was playing a match where several times Ken jumped forward, I jumped forward and hit him with a roundhouse, started holding back to block, and still got hit by a dragon punch as I landed. Is there something about her floaty jump that makes it so the opponent can land and do a move before I land?

okgo: did ken land first in the situation?

Well it went too fast for me to really notice. Probably? It’s just never happened to me before that I’ve hit someone in the air and not been able to block their next attack. I’m just trying to understand what happened so I know what I can or can’t do.

if you’re in that situation i’d do lk or throw (lk or throw,if my reaction is super, super, super late) or hp in the air.

edit: also, was your health at near zero when you did this?

Here’s a problem I keep running into online: El Fuerte knocks me down, and every time try and get up he does a different throw or slam orpress that just knocks me back down. How do I break outta the cycle?

Focus the splashes. Backdash the throws. It’s really a guessing game.

Do we have any tips for Grandpa Gen :annoy: I’m getting owned by his cross-ups which leads to super + ultra combo

sometimes you can predict what the fuerte will do. 99% i see online rely on shenanigans, the same ones too.

if they dash back, get ready for the throw, if they dash towards you get ready for the cross up.

that’s all i see online.

What exactly is a crouch tech?

Sorry if this was asked before, but is using B+mk combo (tenshokyaku i think it’s called correct me if im wrong) bad? I usually do it after i hit them with an FA in the corner so i can follow up with EX SBK. But is the move bad since there is a big frame disadvantage?

The frame disadvantage only matters if they are in a position to capitalise against it. If you are using it after a focus crumple, there is nothing they can do to interrupt the move anyway.

You just want to be careful using that move when the opponent can block, because then its very easy for them to punish.

Is there a better move to replace it? Or is the combo good on its own?
