Is there any easy way to get ex legs after cr.lk, cr.lp, cr.mk?

I have a hard time getting ex legs out consistently.

because

i’m

the duke of funkology :encore:

and to a lesser extent i have an exaggerated opinion of myself so putting lots of space in my posts makes it look as if i’m saying more than i am…

at least to me

you can… best to use a piano method. i usually tap lk just as the input for mk is entered. i have no problem connecting it… the first three commands is what i just have to work on. sometimes I don’t connect as well as I should.

it’s all about p-linking

No one knows why dimedime does what he does… :wonder:

you want to enter it just as his ultra animation is finishing, there is a pretty big window though because even if your late, as long as your not in his face, you have till the fire ball is about to hit you . Also, im not sure if reversal ultra connects at full screen against ryu.

I’m working on cr. lk > cr. lp > cr. mk xx ex legs… I tap mk~lk~hk then mash lk+mk+hk until ex legs comes out.

I tried P-linking for c.jab, s.fierce, but found I have better accuracy just doing it regularly. Not even double-tapping. I guess having Guile as an alt character helps?

Turn the sound up. Listen for the clicks of the 360 joystick. I HAD to have perfect timing or else the Ultra would have hit me

Basically, wait for him to just start moving the fireball forward and then do it

Wrong sticky, sry.

Hurricane Kicks

How are people dealing with Ryu/Ken Hurricane Kicks? The recovery is retarded fast, that they can easily srk out of it if you go for a reversal move. Or if you block after the last hit, their smart enough to go for the throw.

In some situations, I’ve mashed lk. legs and can catch them in lk leg spam > EX legs, but I find that this only works against less experienced Ryu’s. The good ones know to just srk or throw. If I anticipate it early on, I know I can c.RH them out of it. But for those situations where I’m not as fast to react with that and they catch me in block stun, what do people use to reverse them? I’m having such a hard time with it, it’s probably the biggest match breaker for me vs Ryu.

Any ideas would be helpful.

Follow-up question. Let’s say you do NOT have a full charge at the beginning of Ryu’s ultra. Can you begin/finish your charge in the real-world time during his start-up animation, or does the game engine limit your charge window to actual game-clock??

duck them and punish with cr.hk or cr.lk.

if you happen to block the last hit im pretty sure that you have enough time to jab them before they recover…??? but since its online you may not have enough time due to latency… in that case just back dash after you block.

use it on links that you only have problems with then???

Yup. The game clock is still running during the whole “Ultra black out” thing. Even if you weren’t charging at all, as soon as the blackout starts, hold back and you’ll have a charge by the time it’s over (depends on the character though. Ken’s blackout is much faster than Sagat’s blackout so you might not get a charge in the situation).

Yes, you can start charging as soon as you see the animation and still have enough charge to do it. However this entire situation is kind of pointless, since there is no way a decent Ryu wouldnt combo or juggle you into his Ultra

Are you talking about them Hurricane Kicking across the stage? Just hit them with cr.hk, if they are already in your face, just try and throw them as soon as you are out of block stun

^ Thanks Dime and CLx.

I vaguely recall trying to throw out of it plenty of times and have been srk’d easily. I’ll pay attention next time. Jab might be the best option since it comes out in fewest frames.

Yes, it’s just hypothetical as I’m trying to understand how early I can counter-ultra
Thanks for the replies, that’s helpful.

Can someone just clarify one thing for me then: during an opponent’s ultra animation (when they zoom in), if I input my ultra it won’t just “come out” once the animation is done? I have to do the inputs after their animation completes? Because I’ve seen videos of people doing point-blank range counter ultras, and either they are way good at quick inputs or they know something I don’t

As an example, to counter ultra Sagat’s Ultra, start doing your commands at the end of “TIGGGEEEEERRRRR” and hit kick as soon as he says “Genocide”. Though I believe Sagat wins anyway.

So basically the final key of the input has to be done during “active game time”, and can’t be done during the zoom-in on the face. But the preceding inputs can be done during this period.
