Chun Li in AE (Arcade Edition)

Ok :/. It’s strange

I don’t understand this question.

Also, thanks Skatan for confirming. I thought I was going crazy because nobody else mentioned anything about her Super NOT being 1f startup.

Ah nevermind

Since Yun’s dive kick has a combination of being faster than Rufus’ and having a shittier hitbox, maybe Sweep OS tech is a viable option during his pressure, sometimes. e.g., if he just stops a blockstring to dive kick you again.

Did anyone notice in this video… around 1:10 that Chun’s cr. lk went under Yun’s lk upkicks? Haneyama tries again with cr. jab and gets hit by mk/hk (?) up kicks. Maybe Chun has some option of going under all of them like cr. mk. anyone know if this is true or false?

it’s possible. in that video at 3:47 how did he input that sweep os?

Chun c.mk goes under upkicks, might be possible to os st.hp behind it to tag backdash, maybe even c.hk when c.mk is done meaty enough.

A while back, Darklight compiled a list of -1 attacks that Chun’s MK super could and could not punish in SSFIV

While Chun’s frame data for AE says that all of her supers are 1f, it’s possible that they may have that weird property of being able to punish certain -1 attacks, like in SSFIV.

In AE, has anyone tested Chun’s supers with any of the -1 attacks that are confirmed to MK super-punishable from SSFIV list above?

Prolly Cr. lk > Cr. (lk + hk). Probably it’s a good habit, but doesn’t go under up kicks. =[

Yayy!! Thank you. =) I’ll practice that OS when I can.

It’s a good OS to use against Viper as well, you should also be using c.mk os ex sbk and c.mk os mk hazanshu against her.

at 0:48, was that a crossup?

I am uncertain if c.mk goes under Yun ex upkicks, it seems to have a much better hitbox than his other upkicks do.

Yeah, Yun’s ex upkicks beat my cr. mk attempt today. =[

I noticed that fierce seems to be a good all around poke against the twins since it’s harder to jump over than strong and ish. Less so against Yang tho, since he likes his cr. mk so much.

Speaking of Yang, it seems his dp is safe jumpable, but other than that I don’t know if it’s better or worse on wakeup than Yun’s…

According to the frame data of AE edition.

Dragon kick lk whiff versus crouching opponent

Dragon mk whiff versus crouching opponent

Dragon HK hit crouching opponent but his startup is “slow”. 8 frames of startup that means it’s possible for chun li to meaty Yun and stay safe versus those 3 dragon kicks

Only Dragon kick Ex with a faster statup (4 frames) can be a trouble(but the dama is acceptable only 100 damage.

About yang, only his dragon lk is invincible to strike attack.
All the other version can only pass through projectile (even the ex version).

5 frames startup for the LK version + the lk version don’t travel so i suspect you can jump in on Yang at the right distance and land too away of him to not let him FADC his move

Some quick notes for Chun vs Yang:

-Unlike Yun, Yang can FADC his dragon kick so take note when he has 2 bars.
-You can jab his divekick attempts. There’s a height restriction so he can’t do it as quickly as Rufus.
-The 4th and 5th hits of EX Slashes are not a true block string, so reversals are possible.
-His sweep is -7 on block, so you can punish it with your own or with Ultra 1.
-St. HK (near and far) is -8 on block.
-First slash on block: lp = -2, mp = -4, hp = -6
-Second slash on block: lp = -5, mp = -8, hp = -10
-Third slash on block: lp = -8, mp = -12, hp = -14

Good info, cnul… It seems like a good idea to start pressure with jabs when possible and then do a cr. lk/hk option select vs Yun/Viper/Bison.

I fooled around with Yang, and it seems he can use lp version off max range cr. mk like I feared. … so he most likely will be -2 after his first rekka and only -4 after his second rekka, if you blocked.

Chun can usually reach him with cr. lk after the first one. He can attempt to counter-hit you with the second one, tho. It might be a good idea to buffer the first 3 inputs of legs to prepare ex legs when you see the opportunity.

I have been experimenting with buffering the first 3 inputs of legs against certain characters as soon as I block an attack. I have been wondering lately if it might be possible to notice situations where it would be smart to tech with lk legs. It might be rare or nonexistent. But in theory, grab range is a strong range for lk legs, it will send a dive kicker across the screen, and it has good frame advantage on block/hit/trade.

anyone watching the stream? ae is a yun fest over in japan.

Could you explain the nature of these OSes, sir?

AE is direct port. so i assume U1 corner bug wont be fixed:

@39:20 vs Vega.

such a shame.

so all nerfs and no buffs? that is lame.

U1 issue and very slight df+lk (and sweep… but honestly I really don’t feel the change to sweep) change, she’s mostly the same as in Super.

I think we’ll be fine. We should really fight to have U1 changed back to the way it used to be though.
