Yeah i didn’t use it that much in super i focused on ST Fierce for anti air or Low-forward for shotos. I had no idea chuns focus attack got a change it was pretty good in Super. However the stun nerf to sweep was fair because the move is pretty quick, has a good hit box and good priority to dish out 200 stun.
i played lots and not much of a difference. This whole tier list thing that keeps getting mentioned list nerfed characters being bad just because of the simple fact that they were nerfed. her nerfs do not change any of her match-ups at all. she is top ten in my opinion.
I disagree, I think it is wholly because of df+LK.
A good Chun player could make your life hell with it if they knew how to anti-air with it reliably, and how to fish for counter-hits with it (and follow up accordingly with EX Legs, Headstomps or Ultra 2).
Granted, I don’t think Chun is much lower on the tier lists than she was in Super, but I definitely think there is a difference.
In Super, jumping against a good Chun meant she could juggle you into Ultra 2 ANYWHERE on screen.
In AE, jumping against a good Chun means she can MAYBE juggle you into EX Legs, then MAYBE into Ultra 1 or Ultra 2 depending where you are and whether or not df+LK traded. Potential damage output goes down a lot.
How about her st.Hp as an Anti-Air? I thought I saw you mention in AE it seemed more effective. I seem to able to use it in Super fairly well as I’m quicker to hit it then I am to react on D/F.LK but then again I really need to work on my Anti-Air game, haha.
st.HP is actually still my favorite anti-air. I don’t use st.MK enough, but I’ve gotten so accustomed to the angle at which st.HP hits that I usually just wait until they get there, then stick it out and smack them with it.
st HP is a really good anti air it can get beat out by ryu’s jump RH because of the weird hit box i didn’t get into the habit of using DF l k so i use ST H P
I had a chance to play AE chun this saturday and she felt basically the same…I still feel most her nerfs are stupid and unnecessary but in the end they don’t change how you have to approach to the game. What really annoyed me was the d/f+lk trade into ultra gone…I mean, is that really so unfair that a 12 frames move lets you land a low damage ultra on trade? I don’t think so.
Cammy seems to be a much easier matchup now with her CStrike nerf. In super I started reacting with j.HK or nj.HK to her jumps but sometimes I got baited with lower CS and get punished…now to do that she has to use one EX meter which is unlikely to happen.
Also my first impression against the evil twins is that she may be a good character to deal with them. Their dive kicks have bad hitboxes and get stuffed pretty easily by chun normals (something you can’t do against rufus). In the end the matchup may be even or just at slight disadvantage.
A lot of shit I hated from super is gone, so in the end I’m happy with it
the df+lk with the active frames being airborne im willing to bet 20$ that she can beat out throws and command throws on offence with this can someone test plz my AE machine is 2 hours away =/
HAHAHAHA! that video is awesome
So I’m not real great at frame data jargon, but I know Chun’s super is 2 frame startup–does that mean its now a 1 frame startup?
if so I’m all up in YESSSSSS! YESSSSSS! haha
But will that 1 extra (or less rather) frame make that big of a difference?
Say for example punishing Ryu’s hadouken on block, you have to be fairly close up does that 1 less frame give you the ability to be a little further back?
…Are you sure, c_nul? Unless other frame data was changed as well, I’ve tried punishing -1 moves with it on Reversal and haven’t had any success. I’ll do some more testing later on though.
Well, depending on how they’ve changed the move you might be able to punish moves that are -1 that you weren’t able to before. Like Rufus galactic tornado for example.
Rufus GT can’t be punished even now with mk super(1 frame), so I guess it won’t change in AE too. The same thing happens with Viper’s mp TK. I don’t know why, probably Chun gets hit in some weird way or the frame data is wrong.
Try to punish a lv1 focus->dash forward against someone with a 17 frames dash (like fei long). If all 3 versions work then they all have 1 frame startup.
