Chun-Li HD Remix

No I wouldn’t say that although I have hit it, it’s not reliable. I’d say SBK is your best choice plus it gets you out of the corner and that’s where you want to be.

P.S. Blitz here’s another one between me and EgoTrip it’s the second fight on the recording but our first encounter lol. I guarantee he was pissed lol

so if hawk is spamming his splash on chun in a corner you can get out of it with a sbk? for some reason i didn’t think that worked…i’ll have to try it again…which version of the sbk do you use?

thanks!

I think it’s worth mentioning that reversal SBKs do NOT escape 360 tick attempts. You can be thrown out of it until she is airborne, which actually means that you’re wide open for a long time. I suppose if you reversal SBK’d on your wakeup, that could work, but even then, you’re vulnerable again before you leave the ground, so it’s far from a good idea, in my opinion, to ever use SBKs on grappler characters.

ah shit my bad about the bad info. i always thought SBK would escape 360 ticks.

im no chun player by any means but ive seen people use that move where she like kicks herself in the face (cl.forward?) as a last minute anti air.

I was playing a t hawk and i escaped some ticks with the sbk.

It’s generally a bad idea tho, it’s much much better to reversal the actual move he ticks with. After he ticks, he can kinda see you sbk and hit you.
SBK is not a bad reversal move, i’d even go as far as saying it’s better than the old one. BTW, lk sbk having more invincibility than the others is a myth. If anything it has less. I still need to tickle with the move tho, each one has slightly different hitboxes. I don’t think it’s a good move to use out of the blue yet, but i’ll see.

Also, stand mk is godly.

I guess the best answer is that if Gief is getting close enough to tick throw you, you let him get too close. As far as the SBK is concerned, again I try to use it so that the tick whiffs through me and I slip through to the other side and out of the corner.

Yeah, I kinda hoped that if they made any changes to the SBK, it would have been to make it unthrowable on startup…oh well.

And yeah, that’s close S.Forward. Probably one of her more reliable AAs, and incidentally, close and far S.Forward work pretty damn well on Gief and Hawk.

What about Cl.Rh?

chun has good far anti air, I only meant if someone is jumping close enough to hit you over lightning legs

early close roundhouse can trade, I’ll try late sbk and late upkicks, but those get stuffed more often than not in my experience

with a knockdown / crossup situation I can just throw them, but are there other good options?
for some reason I have to piano my throws or I lose consistently when we throw at the same time

I was watching some match videos yesterday and I saw a well timed close standing forward covers her head pretty nicely. I think that could be the answer.

Edit: After reading the whole thread, I like :lk: SBK. Even the old one was useful if you could get the timing down, so I imagine that after blocking a splash and then seeing another one coming, you’d be charged for it after having held back on the joystick for so long.

I concur

I was probably watching your match videos, too. Good stuff.

The MK and HK SBKs are unsafe on hit in most (if not all) cases anyways.

so just to make sure i got this right…if hawk is repeatedly splashing chun li in the corner i can get out of this with a standing mk?..and maybe a sbk might work? thanks

Me personally I would do a SBK on wake up If I was knocked down or thrown in the corner. But if I just backed myself up in the corner I’d try the close s.mk first if that fails and\or I was holding back for a block, then try a SBK on his second jump in, but if you took the hit try and get a sack throw. Chun gets really trapped in the corner with these to big guys so I do my best to not get in that situation esp with Gief and T Hawk. Always be thinking of a way out of the corner whether it be jumping off the wall and getting a head stomp to a SBK or SBK cross up. A lot of the time I go into neutral jumping short if I can get an early jump, It has Godly priority. Anyway that’s what I do Hope that helps. I’ll try and get some vids with these 2 matchups when I get my PS3 :frowning:

thanks to whomever said walk up and throw honda after jab headbutt. That thing works every time. It just blows their mind or something.

Like this???
Second fight, enjoy

Hahah…in that first fight, you’re like, “WHAT!!!”

Those were good games, now that I see the replay. Very close Chun vs. Chun.
I was just retarded in that final Ken round. Hah.

Anyway, as for the Chun in the corner thing, if it’s a Gief who’s trying to lk tick you, you should attempt lk upkicks. I’ve gotten out of a jam more than once with that move.
If he’s splashing you repeatedly, take the early hit, then throw him. This is what’s called a “sacrifice throw”. If you get hit late, you’re probably screwed because a combo or knockdown will ensue.

Special note: It’s a sad state of affairs when a Ken j.lp can beat those upkicks, if timed too early. Embarrassing.

Yeah man. Let me add you and play a few games. I just got back in the game after years off and I have an intermediate level chun. Let me pick up a few pointers from you.

btw, what kind of joystick are you using? It sounds hard.

In one of your videos I hear someone talking about holding a competition in Davis. Are you talking about UC Davis? Are you located there?
