Chun-Li HD Remix

Against most Honda players, you can easily walk up and throw them after they empty jump. Most of them are convinced that you’d never try to walk up and throw THEM, so it works at a hysterically high rate.

Just answering a question from a different thread

This is an excellent game to start off with SF, and fighting games in general. It’s also many players’ favourite.

There are no “easier” ways to do her charge specials.

I’m not sure where to begin with directly answering your questions, so what I’ll do is I’ll mention a bunch of things that I believe are relevant and will probably help you. (You may already know some of this, so just play along.) Definitely do post follow-up questions if you’d like me to clarify or elaborate on anything, or if I missed the point entirely hahah.

  • Holding down-back counts as both charging back and charging down; thus, you are ready to do either type of charge moves. (Also, up-back still counts as a back charge, and down-forward still counts as a down charge.)

  • Holding the joystick in the proper direction at any time counts as charging, regardless of what your character is currently doing. This means that even if your character is busy jumping or hitting or blocking or whatever, you can already be charging up your next special move.

  • If you were playing single player, the computer occasionally does things that are impossible for a real (human) player to do. For example, you might see CPU Chun walk forward and throw a fireball. There is literally no way you can do this.

  • The super motion requires that you charge back (or down-back) just like any other charge move, but they you quickly press forward, then back, then forward again, then kick, all as fast as possible. Practice makes perfect.

  • Chun’s super does actually have a glitch that allows you to “store” its charge command, though. On the final (second) forward press, you can hold that direction and you don’t have to press kick right away. You can just walk forward for as long as you want, and when you press kick the super will actually come out. This could be considered “instant” in a sense.

Yes you can, just not very far lol, maybe a couple pixels.

Smart-ass!

I’m having trouble with Chun’s up-kicks. If timed correctly, can it beat everything or do some attacks snuff it no matter what (reversals withstanding)? Also, can some of her attacks beat flash kicks and dps cleanly?

Hi I am playing as chun-li and wanted to know how to get close to an Hadoken spammer that does a Shoryuken when I go by air

If you do it same time or slightly later, against any DP move, flashkick, rog headbutt, you lose.

Also, never do Heavy kick upkicks. lowest invincibilty.

And dont do it on moves that are above u, moving horizontal on u. (yoga P drill, hawk dive.

Chuns upkicks hit very weird. I have seen them whiff as antiair cuz person didnt stick out anything during jump.

Bottom line, you can hit most stuff w/ it (as long as they dont have invincibility).

Keep hopping over the fireballs with D/F+RH until you get close enough for a c.MK, s.MK or s.MP.

Charge your super before he does, then do a kikoken into a stored super and super through the next fireball.

If you’re close enough where a jump in would hit an inevitable shoryuken, I’ve sometimes had luck baiting the SRK with a D/F+RH or a quick air SBK, especially the light kick SBK since it’s so easy for the opponent to think you’re about to fly in with a regular SBK.

Supposedly it’s still possible to go through fireballs with spinning bird kick but hell if I can get it to work in HD Remix.

Can you translate all the RH c.MK s.MK and s.MP?sorry that I sound like a total noob right now

RH = RoundHouse

MP = Medium Punch (a.k.a. strong punch)
MK = Medium Kick (a.k.a. forward kick)

c. stands for crouching
s. stands for standing

And really…it should be cl. for close, cr. for crouching, and st. for standing.

Read the SRK Wiki. It will help.

Why go through when you can go over? Unless those projectiles are right on top of you, the new SBK is faster than a jump. (It would be nice to still go through projectiles, though.)

where is the SRK wiki? I’ve always wanted to know what “meaty” meant

http://www.shoryuken.com/wiki/index.php/Main_Page

It’s on the home page. On the top row, where you can click on “Forums”, “Wiki” is directly to the left of it. Definitely a good read since some of the greatest fighting game players of all time have contributed to it.

Does anyone here know how to do chun-li’s spinning bird kick arc into a linear spinning bird kick? I have seen the CPU do it before. She would take off doing a spinning bird kick in an arc and when she was at her peak she would extend it to going torward or away and doing her old spinning bird kick that goes in a line. If I ever get someone with my spinning bird kick and we are at the peak i want to be able to extend it and get more hits on with that.

Also is there any tips or something to doing her air spinning bird kick? I read that you have to charge Down+Up and kick but I don’t find that possible unless I hold down on my D-pad and up on my control stick then press kick. With that I want to be able to select how high in the air I am and perform that move so I can pick between using it at the top of the screen to stay in the air longer or use it at the height of my opponent to attack them.

The best time to do the aerial SBK is after having headstomped (jumping :d:+:mk:) your opponent and then they try to chase you in the air. If you’re charging down from the start of your jump, it should be as easy as it was in HF and Super.

Personally, I wish you didn’t have to charge the aerial one. That way, you could do it anytime you wanted to in the air.

Does anyone have good chun strats vs dictator. I got owned last night by a solid player. My troubles were mainly dealing with his corner trap and his headstomp (I could never anticipate which way to block). I was decent out of the corner, but he seemed to always be able to work me into the corner. Maybe there are some strats to avoid the corner in the first place?

Jumping light or medium kick usually keeps him at bay for me. If he uses his Psycho Crusher you can head stomp him out of it. If he does his Double Knee Press you can jump straight up and use one of the kick attacks. I also have trouble when he has me in the corner. I try to block his attacks and if I block maybe 2 or 3 in a row I will take that chance to jump off the wall and get back in the middle.

i know what u mean. but unfortunately, you can not do this. cpu chun can do some more tricks like df MK which was removed for the hd version.

i like the ground version of the spinning bird kick. it hits crouching opponents and i think it is safe on block. too bad the damage is not much tho,

thanks for the wiki info OJ and Shari.

Can anyone recommend to me a move to do on opponents after they are knocked down? I’ve seen people say cr. forward, st. fierce…does that mean i throw out a cr. forward just as they are getting up and immediately do a st. fierce afterwards? can an opponent do a reversal throw or dp on me or does my cr. forward force him to block?

thanks!
