I have trouble comboing sbk as an ender in IV. That said I haven’t been playing long but I’m sure I’ll get it with practice. I can do kikoken with ease. But something about sbk…
Well it looks like you’re trying to do c.MK to legs/EX legs but are cancelling into the legs way too late. c.LPx2, c.MK doesn’t combo unless you’re in V Trigger so I’m not sure why you were doing that.
So confirmed physical copies out there are the final balance of the game until probably the end of capcup. Any of you guys out there skulking for early copies that can report on any changes?
Hah, gonna miss all the crack jokes… GL on the copy, was watching the chun on MBR’s stream archive but he didn’t show any useful information at aaaaall.
I heard some Gamestops messed up and sold the game before release. I’m very interested in any changes made to her between the last beta and the final product. Anyone know?
Overall, Chun Li’s throw is the weakest in the game, which doesn’t make sense for a rushdown offensive character.
The hitbox data itself doesn’t really tell the whole story, the throw animation for a lot of the other characters with similar hitboxes (Vega, Rashid, Laura, Necalli) moves the them forward during startup, meaning they can land a throw from a lot farther away. Not only that, but Chun’s animation moves her back, making her range a lot smaller than you’d think from just looking at hitboxes. You can see it in the frame data if you look here for Chun versus Claw, Rashid, Laura and Necalli. Note the “Real” value. That’s the effective range of the throw including how much you move forward/back during it. Even though Chun’s hitbox is 0.815, the throw is actually 0.796 when you account for her moving back, which is worse than even the shotos (with the shortest range in the game, 0.8). In beta 3 she had 0.846, which is better than low end characters and about on par with Mika and Karin. Long story short? The nerf sent her from “average” down to “absolute worst”.
That means it’s hard for her to throw offensively. Combine that with a lack of a fast overhead and good engagement moves, and she doesn’t really have good options for getting in or threatening at close range.
She can definitely deal damage, but only from an overly defensive position that doesn’t suit her as a character.
Hard for the fastest dash/best walk speed character to throw offensively…come on man that whole post is rubbish.
Anyway, we are gonna need a whole thread on the Cammy match up, this one is just too tough. I got some tech I been working on but I’m gonna sit on it and see how other people approach her. I might be playing it wrong fundamentally.
Yeah I saw the “real” values and how disjointed some of the boxes are and the movement. None of that matters. The point I was making, and the whole purpose of that image, is to show that these variances in range are negligible. So Chuns “real” throw range is 0.796 instead of 0.815, which is shorter than beta3 at 0.846. So what? These differences are very small. Having what you call the “absolute worst” throw doesn’t mean it’s garbage or that it makes her life more difficult. These are already small differences, and when you’re talking like a 5-6% change either way it’s virtually meaningless. On paper you’re absolutely right, it’s a short range and not as good as most of the others. But in the “real world,” in concert with her fast walk speed, it’s trivial.
Now, I’m no superstar, but I did play Chun a lot through all the betas, including beta 4, and I can say from personal experience that I had no trouble at all using her throw offensively. Granted there were times when I whiffed it in beta4 but there were times when I whiffed in all the other betas too. And while Chun is strong in neutral I had no issues engaging, threatening, and playing rushdown when I chose to with the tools she has.
So, for my long story short, the shorter throw range is trivial and doesn’t have any real impact on her at all. That’s my take on it, but I’m not the final authority on Chun. Anyone is free to disagree and see things differently.
I’ve gotten lucky and picked up the game yesterday. Played mainly with Chun and did story and Survival mode to unlock some colors. I don’t know if anybody can help but I’ve played to story mode and I can choose the police outfit and her classic outfit is story mode but I cannot play her police outfit in Multiplayer. How so?
