Fuerte actually, because Q-bomb buff in USf4. And E. Ryu… Pretty average in AE and v2012 until Sako showed people how he’s supposed to play (you can argue for that with Oni and WAO as well)
I’ll give you gen with yeb. But characters that got buffs definitely do not count. In fact they illustrate the point perfectly. So much potential they needed the designers to design them to be stronger…
Most characters have been buffed via the stronger character being nerfed.
The in,y other chRacter besides gen I could see would be of akuma cause he was kinda ass when he came out, but then tokido vortexds him into pimpdom and the rest is history.
CharTcers like fei and just about everyone else only came up when gat and akuma and bla bla bla were put down… By the designers.
I think people already knew Akuma was top tier in Vanilla, it’s just the vortex made him more top tier. LOL. It got to a point where Akuma was basically beating Sagat 6 4 and that’s pretty crazy in a game where he and Ryu were fucking up everyone else.
That’s only for the 17 character arcade release though. If we were talking about the console Vanilla release, Gen, Seth and Cammy would have easily been either top or very close to the top after the end of a 2 or 3 year meta. Vanilla Gen’s damage and wonky ass jump arcs that made AAing super difficult would have started to run the game. I think he would have ended up being another character that beat Sagat.
I always thought Viper was good in Vanilla and her being my main helped give insight, but I think in Vanilla you had a bit more going for you if you had really OP buttons and she was just a character back then with really OP specials. Her walk speed and buttons got better after her specials got nerfed. So she’s a bit less dumb but can play footsies better now.
What I’d really like to see in SFV, a throwback to Champion Edition, if you finished a round with a head stomp, you could do another move after in the air in slow mo, or wall jump after and do another move after that. Pointless… but so much fun… just saying.
well no since I’m not subscribed to the Capcom Fighters twitch ,however they have the currently build and was playing it on stream with a bunch of uk players
I watched the stream too and Chun had her v-trigger activated when stopping fireballs with that palm move. So maybe you need to have v-trigger activated, otherwise it might not work?
So can Chun-Li jump cancel the last hit of her super? I thought I saw her do that in early footage of 5 but didn’t see anyone do it in any of the E3 footage I saw.
The timing for stopping fireballs seems kind of tight, though, just like all other anti-fireball tools in this game (aside from Bison’s V-skill). It’s probably going to be more useful once people practice it, though.
Still, was this only with V-trigger active? Because spending V-trigger time trying to b+HP fireballs seems like a waste.
Agreed, I think she really needs it.
The last thing a Poking, Med-range character wants when they do get in and deal damage is get out have to start all over again.
Being able to JC her CA, not only makes her unique.
They really can’t pull the it’s not fair card considering USF4 characters have post Ultra moves, Yun, Makoto and she’s been able to do it before - so why take it out really?
I’d really like to have to her St. Mp cancelable again too. It is a really nice quick move and being able to cancel into LLegs or Kikouken would benefit her mid-range, pressure game.
All in all I’ve rewatched a lot of footage and I see Chun being better the more I watch and analyze, however, I do think she lacks a few things (which they took out) I would at least like to know the legit reasoning behind taking out some of her tricks they removed. So I can counter and explain why they are dumb, lol.
