EX lightning legs are still -3 according to my 3 recordings. I’m also able to punish it with Ryu’s DP.

neutral is hard for him but once hes in hes in… also far away i feel like his vskill is good

If cr.lp at any point wasn’t +5 on hit it wouldn’t have been able to link into st.mp, which it was able to in every build.

So seems like chun’s st. lk can stuff vega’s walldive like 90% of the time? Only time it doesn’t seem to work is if he lands directly on top of my head.

Man alive, I must have hit a brick wall or something. I’m getting annihilated left and right now by Birdie, Necalli, Dhalsim, and Cammy.

Birdies are beating me with a lot of lot of giant pokes and mixups between air chain and ground chain with that damn banana and soda can. I’ve managed to get the reaction to jab him out of the jump chain, but that’s not enough. I can’t seem to find a distance where I can out poke him without eating a giant fist or foot and I haven’t found a way to beat that headbutt when jumping in yet.

Necalli’s are ok when I can keep them out but once they get in or get a knockdown its just death. Even with v-reversal that stomp pressure with his strong/fierce/fwd and the command grab make it a nightmare.

Dhalsim’s are putting on shows against me. The first few I fought were nothing but then I suppose people started figuring him out. The slide into tic throws/traps with the rainbow fireball and the ambiguity of when I’m able to hit him thanks to that v-skill are driving me nuts. Not to mention all the standard long limbed Sim stuff. I’ve had some moderate success with B+Fierce, but nothing to write home about.

Cammy is just, I don’t know. She’s all over the place with the ones I’ve been playing. Low strong pressure, fierce, a fwd that seems to stuff mine a lot, cross-up-reverse-cross-ups with that damn hooligan (i think?). I’ve started to be able to jab/short it on reaction but it’s still pretty tough. Her tic throw game seems really strong too. And that double knee normal is a headache.

Oddly enough though I’ve got Gief under control. Lots of fwds, roundhouses, and shorts, plus occasionally going in to mix things up with VT.

Lot’s to learn yet, but not a bad experience for Day -60. And I’m sure over time all these problems I’m having will be figured out. Overall, even though I’m getting spanked in certain matchups, I’m really enjoying this Chun. She’s so much more fun than Ultra Chun. A big point in her favor, for me at least, is that I don’t have be some kind of Olympic Pianist to do her most damaging combos like in Ultra (at least not with the combos we know so far, anyway). I really hope they don’t change her too much, but I could easily see them nerfing short.

I’m not sure how you got the DP punish, but this is basically the test I tried, assuming Ryu’s LP DP and EX DP are 3f startup (it’s at the 40 second mark if the timestamp doesn’t work):

If he can indeed punish it in some cases, I don’t think it’s 100% consistent.

hrm, something weird is going on. My videos definitely show she’s -3 but now I can’t punish it with DP. I guess it’s probably -2. This could be one of those strange case scenarios.

EDIT: I double checked and recorded like a whole bunch of EX LK’s. Every one showed she’s -3.

Chun is so damn strong in this version, loving it!

What I’ve found during Beta 3 outside of the obvious ones

Non Vtrigger combos

cr.jab or st.jab -> st.strong xx legs (whichever flavor)

st.strong -> cr.forward xx legs (whichever flavor)

On Forward + RH Counter Hit

st.jab -> st.strong xx legs (whichever)

Anyone else notice that back + fp is straight up nasty when used meaty? It seems to beat nearly everything and CC except for invincible reversals (ex DP, Karin ex DP, necali’s dp)

Best bnb I found was c.lp, st.mp, c.mk x mk sbk, worked as a combo from tk mk legs too.
For counter hit punishes f+hk, st.mp, c.mk x mk sbk was possible.
sbk combos were universal since sbk hits crouchers now.

b+hp x activate, c.hp x hk sbk was pretty legit too, didn’t try b+hp x activate, f+hk but I assume it wouldn’t combo.

TK MK Legs was the shit

I think beta 2 chun should be the definitive version. She lost her Kara throw and less priority on b+hk, but she still had her counter hit punishes.

I think she’s in a really interesting spot atm, definitely strong with good neutral

I didn’t test it but I think tk legs are -2 or something on block because I could not win the mash fight after them. She has a bunch of layers to her play style though can definitely play her how you want and be successful. Also AA airthrow is really damn good if you are eagle eyeing a jump.

On Necalli v Chun, it felt pretty easy for Chun to pressure him into a corner but smart s.RH and dive kick/normal jump mix up was his spot to do work. He seems to have the burden of risk on him, but at like 40% health when he goes SSJ Necalli the match seemed to change pretty drastically. A lot of matches I would roll him till he popped V trigger and then just maul me with button-dash-dive-cmd grab basics. Easiest way to deal with it on Chun side is to save all your resources for when he is in that mode and you can kill him on one situation.

Chun mirror is my favorite matchup. We’re approaching 3S levels of AY!

That’s just great; I can hear the Nerf Hammer of Thor coming down already.

I have her top 3, I think she’s fucking ridiculously good. And I like that 100%, I REALLY hope she doesn’t get fiddled with too much, as she is now she’s one of the most competitive characters and has incredible room for growth when players develop tech with her.

CAPCOM LET HER JUMP CANCEL SUPER IN V-TRIGGER YOU FUCKS. Would make for some funky juggles. Some great combos there dude, didn’t know st.mp CH actually led into cr.hp! I was just going into sweep instead like an idiot.

Edit - Just so I can check I’m not alone in this Charlie vs. Chun felt hella easy at least for day 1 tool usage, just press b.hp whenever you see Charlie do an axe kick and he just gets stuffed straight out of it with a CC to boot, you can juggle in a super if you want to if he’s near the corner as well, can probably jump and land stomps into EX legs as well. B.hp is godlike, it makes the Sim match up feel a ton better too, stretch out a limb and you press b.hp? Beaten mad cleanly, same for whenever he teleports without a fireball to cover him, b.hp that shit and teach him a lesson.

B.HP is the answer to life as we know it, welcome back 3S Chun.

I honestly never knew the joys of b.hp in match until phase 3. It’s SO great! I was only 6 or 7 years old when 3rd Strike dropped, so I was just rubbing my hands across the controller at best back then. If only I got to experience these joys earlier.

I found myself losing to a few Necalli players. Can Chun not stick out a cr.lp after Necalli’s stomp?
