Chun Li General Thread: Blue Jade

Interesting article from eventhubs about the many looks Chun-Li has undergone through since the release until the most recent beta, including face, intro, poses, and yes, the bouncing boobs.

Is the current chun tech compiled somewhere? It might change before the next beta but it’d be nice to get a primer.

The only real tech you need to learn so far is her head stomp legs cancel. The motion is d,df,f,u,d+MK (23692+MK). Basically cancelling the start up frames of stomp immediately into MK legs to get a real steep air legs that avoids throws and sets up combos nicely while leaving you relatively safe on block.

They nerfed the recovery on it a bit so you have to combo off of it with c.LP now, but it seems like they intend to keep it in. The video is overly loud like it’s trying to be a Marvel combo video (he doesn’t even tell you how to do it until the video is almost over LOL), but it gets the point across.

I knew about her stomp cancel from the 1st Beta, however i haven’t really bothered practicing it. The times i did it, it was just a raw air LL done as low as possible. Very inconsistent in allowing you to combo and required certain spacing also, this seems a lot more reliable. I however tried the instant headstomps on the opponent, i constantly end in df or db when doing a forward jump and missed the stomp so often, when i got it out it was too slow, something i need to practice i guess, which is fine.

Hope they keep the the headstomp cancel for the final build, seems a lot of fun and interesting

For me its just remembering to do the motion quickly and making sure you end on down before hitting MK. That seemed to keep it pretty consistent in training mode for me.

You know you dont need to cancel anything to do that right? It is just a height requirement.

Edit: Hmm maybe it does make it slightly lower, hard to tell.

I’ve always sorta felt this myself.

I just do it by doing a really fast LL off the ground.

I don’t think it’s a cancel either. It’s only one button press and I do a TK motion and df + kick. This game will never give you headstomp with DF.

I was using the SF4 Adon method of buffering the LL on the ground and just delaying the MK press in the air…I’m sure that works and gives you it as low as possible

Did they nerf her CA damage? Saw it used in a combo recently and it did pretty minimal stuff.

Looking at her frame data, and I’m wondering… what’s the point of her st. jab? st. mp has same startup but better advantage on hit and block, cr.lp has same advantage but faster startup. Why’d you ever use st.jab over either of those?

It also does white damage.

Every character still gonna have a couple normals that are neglible for combos or neutral. You could still use it as an empty jump beater I guess if the vertical box is better than s.mp.

St. Jab has more range than cr. Jab and st. MP.

That’s pretty important to know, as st.mp doesn’t seem to have much range at all.

Never liked the black.
I’m more about the original blue, red, orange and light blue. Purple looks pretty good too.
