Chun Li General Thread: Blue Jade

It is possible but I have not dared to try it out. There is some discussion about it in beginner thread.

It’s definitely possible. Dash up c.LKx2, s.LP, LK SBK is piss easy and you just have to hold down at some point during the earlier frames of the dash then plink up+LK. The video is showing the easy way to do it since she’s crouching for like 5 seconds before. Even dash up is harder than that.

Walk up c.LKx2, s.LP is legitimately difficult execution wise, but doable. The input is to motion f,df,d so you get an extra couple frames to charge, then do c.LK, c.LK, s.LP with the latest timing possible for each hit. Then when the s.LP hits plink into up+LK for the SBK. Takes a second to get down the timing to space the lights, but once you do you’ll realize it gives you just enough time to charge LK SBK.

**So essentially f,df,d, c.LK, c.LK, s.LP~u+LK. ** Spacing the lights as far away as possible timing wise while still comboing then plink.

I kinda wanted to just keep it to myself as something I was working on since I can’t stand seeing people burn meter on EX legs all the time after 3 lights. Now with these changes might as well get everyone practicing it. Gotta make Chun and Ibuki as CHEEP as possible. Once MOV and Sako learn it they’re going to go to town.

S2 frame data changes, most of those things have already been said but w/e:

  • st. HP is -5 oB (was -3)
  • cr. LK +2 oH (was +1)
  • st. LK is 5f (was 4f)
  • overhead is +2 oH (was 0. wtf??)
  • df+HK is +8 oH (was +4). can link into st. MK…
  • legs are +4 (L), +3 (M) and +2 (H) oH (were +3/+2/+1). You can do M legs into cr. LK xx M legs
  • M IALL is between -4 and -2 oB and +2 oH at best. The best IALL now is L version (always -2 oB and up to +3 oH). No height limit changes though.
  • H SBK is -8 oB (was -10)
  • EX SBK is -16 oB (was -12). Pushback almost non existent on block.

So she did get some real nerfs then. s.HP is going to be spammed a lot less now. Gonna have to use a lot more f+MP and s.MK now.

@OceanMachine since I’ve heard you can mash kicks to get lightning legs, can you test that to see if it works and if any new combos can happen off the mash legs?

Unfortunately he doesn’t test some things that I would like to see, namely possibilities from iall, but a couple of things I noticed:
Cr.lp didn’t connect after counter hit f.hk :frowning:
Kiko still has enough frame advantage to combo s.hp after from close range
S.lk still combos after ex kiko in corner
Cr.lp after lklegs doesn’t work :frowning:
Ex legs can be VTCd and followed with cr.lp, cr.mk, sbk (for an extremely mediocre 235 damage :frowning: )

2nd video shows some new combo possibilities. Seems you get a lot of frame advantage after VTC specials.
Also iall to cr.lk works, and cr.lk to lk legs works (which means barring any changes to lk legs and lksbk frame data cr.lk to lksbk should work too) AAAND leg loops are back via cr.lk to lklegs repeat ad nauseam :slight_smile:
Edit: nevermind, OceanMachine disproved the cr.lk to lksbk theory

Still a lot of unanswered questions but it’s looking like chun’s changes will make it harder to access her damage (outside of vtc once, maybe twice a round). Which sucks because her damage output wasn’t high in season 1 :frowning:

I can do st. MP and mash cr. MK to have cr. MK combo into M legs. cr. LK into mashed legs is almost impossible but you can easily do it with the command motion.
You can never link cr. LP from legs anymore in any form. What you can do is cr. LK xx M legs twice for 161 dmg/322 stun, but after that you’re too far to link into cr. LK.

P.S. cr. LK is only special cancellable into legs for those who asked (cr. LK xx SBK/Kikoken is not possible).

About VTC advantage on specials, here’s what I found:

L/M/H Kikoken point blank = +24 oH (can’t cancel oB)
EX Kikoken = +22 oH (can’t cancel oB)
Legs = +6 oH, 0 oB

Okay, Is it me or is her damage output nerfed hardcore ?

Now way the SBK is doing the same damage it used to do before. Looks like it does 30 or 40 less damage to me. It is such a shame that Capcom is limiting st.MP, cr.MK into SBK. It was such a fun combo.

@GoofyhanD was right. The cr.LP and lack of SBK which leads to oki is a gigantic nerf to Chun-Li. Not being able to even do cr.HP xx LK Legs, cr.LP into SBK is huge as it was THE go to punish combo.

That also mean that our CC punish will be changed, we won’t be able to st.HK (CC), dash, st.LK xxLK legs, cr.LP xx SBK anymore. I am guessing we will just do cr.LP, st.MP, cr.MK SBK if that still works.

I am honestly not sure if i like these changes. The legs loops seem easier but they are just more work for a mediocre reward. The lack of positional advantage and damage from SBK to LL is gonna hurt us badly.

Looks like SBK about to be near useless again like in 4.

We don’t even know that cr.LK will combo into st.LP or cr.LP anymore. If it doesn’t link into cr.LP then can’t see a reason for it to combo into st.LP.

Looks to me that cr.LK into legs is the best you are gonna get from that move.

Still got s.mp to c.mk and there’s still whatever GO1 was talking about with being able to land s.lk after legs. Unless they took that out in this build.

I am certain i saw a Chun doing cr.HP, LK legs, cr.LP , LK SBK in one of the Akuma videos on PSX. I think it was the video we saw her gaining V-gauge after the jump in attack from her V-skill connects.

This build looks substantially different now. Yeah st.MP into cr.MK will still be good and in V-trigger she looks like her old self and even better to me.

From an aesthetic standpoint it was fun having her signature move be actually really useful for once.

SBK still wasn’t great, it just became combo filler due to execution things. You just can’t combo filler it off as many things now. Supposedly

I can plink shit fine but that’s more effort for some very shitty damage if these reports are true about the new legs to lk sbk combos. But whatever. I’ll deal. Chun was boss for ten months.

btw they fixed Chun’s hitbox not extending while crouching. Literally unplayable
