Chun-Li general discussion (SFxT)

Thanks for the recommendations. I’ll give them a try. I’m also planning on trying out Xiaoyu and Julia with Chun to see if I like them. As for Juri… I might give her another chance. I just didn’t like having to hold down a button and essentially losing that option when storing a fireball. But that might change when I learn her better.

With Juri you are primarly storing LK fuhajins for short burst combos, so you still have control of further reaching normals/pokes like St. MP (which moves you forward), Cr. Mp and Cr. Mk.
It certainly takes getting used to as her play style is unique to SF. Juri was my Alt in SSF4 for about 3 years so she feels easy to me, but I understand the hurdles at first.

Main downfall of my team is all of my switch cancels from Juri (cancels off fuhajins and senpushas) leave the opponent in a juggle state; although I found that one unblockable, mawahahah…anyway to maximize damage with Chun-Li it is generally best to bring her in on a grounded opponent such as Ken’s Tatsu or Dudley’s Machine Gun Blow as examples.
One such example of a specific combo off of Ken’s HK Tatsu -to Chun- J. Hk, Cl.St.Hk xx Ex Kikouken, B+Mk, xJCx, J. Hk -land - CL.st.Hk xJCx, Mk Stomp, J. Hk - land - Hk LLegs for the most damage
Laying a little gem theory on you; With this simple combo you have 8 hitting normals and 2 specials -say you land cr. Lp, St. Mp xx LLegs extended (because LLegs extended counts as two specials) on your opponents’ wake up you can have two immense power gems @ 20% increase each activated in unison for a damage increase of 40%

Hello my name is Launchpad Atl and I have played chun in sf4 for 4yrs and I hated so much we all know y. So now that this game has come out I can shine lol. But I just picked the game back up two days ago and I play chun/Jin its weird because Haneyama play the same team I was like great minds think alike but no im liking the team. So yea just wanted to introduce myself.

This place is dead, the SF4 section (and FB group) gets more love by comparison.

Ok

What’s the name of the FB group I’m already in the sf4 one

Yeah, the SF4 one is where we discuss other games too… you can post your SFxT concerns there too lol. Just say you’re discussing or wanna discuss SFxT in your post, and you’re good to go.

I’ve been sharing SF2/ST clips all of last week for example.

My friend Omar jumped to XT some time ago, and there’s at least two other guys discussing SFxT as far as I know, there’s gonna be someone to respond/help for sure.

For anyone interested in jumping to FB, the Chun-Li group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/Fellowshipofthethigh/

im thinking about using chun li and akuma maybe since they were both my mains in ssfiv and i know how to use them both but then again they both have low health so it could be a risk. would any other shoto be better?

This post is way dead, but I don’t care because I just started playing competitively again a few months ago, and figured I’d contribute my Chun teams anyway for this thread. I’ve had a lot of LAN success with this, and very consistent matches, combos.

These are all with Chun on point.

My most practiced team, is Chun Li/Ken. If I were to attend an event, this would be the team I would take. For this teams style, it’s just wasting time, punish 2-3 whiffs off good reads and build meter to secure the next round. A lot of combos I’ve developed with this team involving EX Tatsu, and Chuns SBK are damaging/time-consuming enough to where they can both just play keep away towards the end of the match if you need to, not to mention, they can shove the opponent all the way to the corner from anywhere on the screen. For gems, I use Onslaught gems on Chun Li, and power gyms on Ken, although I think Life gems serve my playstyle well if your trying to grind out a game. Chuns BnB tag cancels into Kens l.dp > cr.mk > h.dp BnB as well, although the window is tight, it’s very doable, and just feels awesome. I love this team.

My second most practiced team is pairing her with Sagat. Chun Li/Sagat can be insane, I mean, with onslaught gems, I can do a simple launcher combo into EX Tiger Knee > j.hp > FREE SUPER or h.dp. If you go the h.dp route you can continue the combo with a tag cancel. It’s one of my favorite whiff punishes in the game, and very simple to execute. My only issue with this team, is Sagat can feel a little clunky under pressure, but he has undervalued normals and can easily get Chun back in to continue to grind the games where your opponent is willing to just block. One tiger uppercut, and a tag cancel, your good to go.

Bob would be my close Third, especially with his buffs on Spiral Rocky, but I like him with Ken better, so I don’t practice this enough to know.

Other teams I’ve tried pairing with Chun, that were doable.

Ryu > I mean, he does good as an anchor or point, as well as pressure and keep away. He gets in good enough damage with gems to be a solid finisher, although none of them do anything great.

Alisa > Will support someone looking for a consistent, zone heavy play style. You can “run-away” with a lot of games on this team.

good partners for chun?

also I main chun in cvs2(N-groove rushdown), 3s, st…

will I even like her/this game?

Hey, does Xiaoyu work well with Chun?

anyone have advice on the chun dhalsim matchup?
