Don’t give up man!
She has much better punishes for a whiffed DP anyway. The big difference with Chun’s super in this game (other than the massive buff by making it a motion) is that her lunge across the screen occurs DURING the freeze animation. So the timing for using it as a punish is much different. It’s much easier to go through fireballs and I suspect it’ll punish Blanka balls as long as you time it so that it hits during his grounded recovery frames.
Yeah, that’s the biggest issue with Chun-Li. Us players have to adapt with each new series, since she plays nothing alike in any of them. :shake: Her normals alone… Iron Reaver brought that point up in the AE general thread. It’s also the gist of the comments on the front page article.
I’m surprised, no salt or hate on this one.
On a personal high note, just got an SF4 Chun-Li madcatz fight pad from a friend. Gonna go with my SF4/SFxT on the 360, as well as to be ready for the pc version. :lovin:
Right then my “big” tourney has been and gone and the people that are bothered know how I did, so with that out of the way its time to start learning this game properly
So does anyone here have access to or a link to the frame data for al the characters in this game?
Can Chun do the Raven/Cammy “jab trap”? Cos that is really effective and cheap
Is there a list of safe jump set ups and OS’s for her?
Thanks in advance
here’s a google spread
Cheers Happy times I get to go through the painstaking of breaking down another game and working everything out from the bottom of the pile up lol… I can see myself been mad scrubby at this game for a while, still the journey is always interesting (its never exactly fun though)
I’ve been having an easier time just treating it like an entire new game. At the start I was trying to play SF4 in a completely different engine.
@Wii
And you did well, hope I do as well this weekend
As far as Safe Jumps go. The only thing I’ve noticed is ‘some’ reversals getting beaten out by deep J.Hk (think of Fei Long’s safe jump)
Guile and Cammy’s safe jumps off a throw are still in tact. Never have done any lab testing just using Endless battles as in-game lab time.
But tech rolls defeat all of this. At least Ken has an awesome option to negate this. So be weary if a Ken is pressuring your wake up with a F+Mk step kick
and you roll out Ken’s B+Mk (overhead) will actually come out.
What meet are you going to? Hope you can do your best.
Cheers… I did “OK” considering the amount of entrants and some of the people that were there, I’m just gutted my nerves got to me in the most important match lol…
Anyway thanks for the info and surely there must be set ups that allow you cover tech rolls and still apply pressure safely on wake up? Ah well I’ll be starting to learn the game and will post anything I find, although I think I’m kinda starting behind everyone now so I’ll be the noob lol.
Also good luck at your tourney, I am sure you’ll do well but the main thing is to walk away from it having had a good time and feeling that you didn’t let yourself down in how you played your game… All the best and hope you finish in a high place
I won’t finish in a high place – Chun Li will finish in a high place, I am merely a guide.
I do not hit the buttons for when the moment is right – the buttons hit all by themselves.
LOL, sorry I was just really feeling some some comedic philosophy here, hope you guys got a chuckle.
IMO chun is still amazingly solid and she makes the hugo bandwagon look soooo free but my biggest gripe at the moment is…
Why are close standing :mk: and light hazanshu not overheads… -.-
My two favorite characters to fight against with Chun atm is Ryu and Hugo since she works them so well and they are mad popular characters. Also when Hugo tries to do spam body splash cr.mp ducks that shit free and can lead to launcher combo when timed right.
Just a tiny bit of tech, I don’t know if people have covered this.
After her BnB combo that ends in [b.MK~MK] JC, j.HK, cs.HK xx MK Hazanshu (MK pushes farther than HK), you’re in perfect position for wake up mixups. If they decide to roll forward, you can walk a tiny bit fwd or a tiny bit backward to mixup the roll.
Now, when you condition them NOT to roll, this is where the tech comes in. During the hard knockdown, you can whiff a couple normals. Then you can jump forward and do a VERY low meaty head stomp. Now, unlike any other game, she pops up much higher off a head stomp. So after a head stomp, you can either go for cross up j.LK OR hit them in the front with j.HK.
Both followups are comboable on hit.
j.HK is a bit harder to combo afterwards due to you’re hitting j.HK while you’re rising from the headstomp and you’re connecting with j.LK when you’re at the peak.
After you condition them with this, you can go empty jump low. Hell, the damn setup looks like an empty jump low but you suddenly get popped up with the headstomp.
Really want to learn Chun for fun as her footsie game is monstrous and she does some really nice damage, but I don’t really have any partners I’m interested in teaming her up with. I’ll probably just wait for DLC so I can add Tekken’s own chinese super cop.
I guess you could say I’m waiting on playing Chun-Li, to play Chun-Lei.
(You guys can hate me for that, I’d understand it).
Nah – use who you like; I’m itching for Sakura myself. If I can do as good with her as I am Ken then I’m kicking Ken to the curb.
Of course Christie looks yummy and seems to have several moves that hate to fight against
i really do hate the Tekken cast’s combos, they are so 50/50 when blocking
the combos all look the same until it reaches the branching point, one button presses makes it an overhead or a low attack.
far s.hp is still awesome. Just in case nobody said it yet.
I was talking more about the pun, but yeah I’m playing Cammy(Hwo)/Steve and I’m in love with that team, but I’m really looking forward to Bryan and Jack who I want to pick up as my DLC main.
Team Hong Kong supercop :looney:
I’m still working on making any combination of Chun/Juri/Cammy work for me.
As an aside, I’m still not playing this as regularly as I do SF4. I’ve more or less given up on playing marvel 3 regularly due to lack of comp and practice, but I hope this changes one day. At least to the point where I’m not ground beef in casuals. :shake:
