My guess is that the risk v reward on that is probably not enough to make me try it.
Its like HSU > Super or st.fierce > Super…I can still only hit those about 1/2 the time, and the risk for whiffing is too great (lose super and get punished?).
But I’m sure some of you guys with sick execution will nail this in matches.
Yeah, I’m with ya Para on the whole risk vs. reward thing about Ultra from cr.LPx2. It’s on the same level as far st.LP xx Ultra for Balrog.
Now what makes HSU xx Super or st.HP xx Super or even MK SBK xx Super much more reasonable/doable is that you can actually piano the buttons to get a higher success rate so I’m not afraid of doing these at all, especially st.HP xx Super and HSU xx Super as they’re easier to time as opposed to MK SBK xx Super.
Should hit the training room more for those Super links Para. :nunchuck:
I think the reason I’m taking my time with those combos into super is because I like to use super as a defensive tool.
Once Chun has super, so many things are punishable on block that it greatly reduces the options of my opponent. So I like to keep it for as long as possible against opponents who know this. If my opponent does not know this, then I land the super anyway and its all the same in the end.
I dunno… If you could get this right, this is NUTS. Sit on down back for the charge, wait for something slightly unsafe to be thrown that can be jabbed, or say a break in their attack when they go for a throw attempt.
BOOM. Ultra time. Though then you lose your ability to shut down certain moves. Still, I’m gonna hit training and practice this. Thanks!
Yeah, just like HSU > Super I think its the kind of thing that you might do if you KNEW it was going to win you the match…but otherwise I think its a bit risky for my play style.
Yes, it seemed impossible. Clearly it isn’t from the video, but I tried for at least half an hour straight.
If you look on the youtube video, there are some other links to try and supposedly help you out… but no luck for me!
Btw… I noticed that when you do cr.lp x 3 on ryu in training… if you space it so that Chun’s hand hits around ryus belt on the first hit, then on the third hit Ryu goes into a different hit animation than the previous hits. Why is this?
have you ever tried this and landed it??? the spacing is NUTS… its literally 3-4 pixels of perfect spacing. if ways can be found to land the spacing afetr only like 2-3 weak attacks then yeah it will become ok. but i dont think we will EVER see someone land this off of something like counterthrow with jab and then link into ultra…
look at the spacing on the cr.lp into ultra in BB’s vid… notice that he practically hits “air” with the last cr.lp…
if you want to link into ultra THIS IS HOW IT HAS TO BE DONE. and as of yet the only good setup is the one versus akuma that nemo used into cr.hk that bento used to hit ultra… and lets face it… how often is that opportunity gonna come up in an akuma matchup? not much imho.
sooooo i was in training mode today and i was fooling around with some combos, and since my execution is just starting to get the hang of chuns thighs, i did some combos i didnt see on the first page so i guess ill list them. Ive pulled them off several times in real matches trying them out and i have to say its not only flashy but its kinda effective lol
J.FPx2(or J.RH)->S.MP(or S.FP)-> HP kikoken FADC ->c.lpx3->s.lpx1 pLink to standing fierce
half EX bar consumed and a max of a 10 hit combo.
second combo half is same as above but is different towards the end-
J.FPx2(or J.RH)->S.MP(or S.FP)-> HP kikoken FADC-> c.lkx3-> EX legs-> Ultra
3 EX bars and Ultra, and of course, this is only in the corner for the ultra part, you could just snip it and do EX legs after the FADC if you arent in the corner.
I dont have the exact stun/damage because i forgot, sorry guys lol
Ill also add that you can do EX kikoken to FADC for either combo but that would cost at LEAST 3 meters right then and there sooo yea hope im not just blabbing bout something thats already been known lol
It’s more probable to land ch st.mp, ultra since you can confirm it.
Too bad it’s a 1f link so it’s definitely not easy to confirm and nail it, nor is it easy to land ch st.mp while keeping charge.
^^^lol confirmed in training mode.
need to be point blank to set it up:
timing on the weak attacks is “weird” not an absolute flatout chain but not really link timing either…
weak attacks do 130 damage and linked FULL ultra does 161… lol talk about some horrendous scaling. i like punishing fireballs better versus sagat… i’d do this to bison/viper/ any character that falls out of ultra juggle AND doesnt have many punishable moves on block to hit ultra… if it were possible.
Yeah, I decided on playing Chun as my secondary, so I just started to to screw around in training. The ultra link, fuck that, too much risk vs reward, but very nice she can sweep. The timing it to chain the lp fast, but not mash it. Actually time the hits. You do it too slow and you’ll get all the hits but not the last one you need.
