all versions of ll give different amounts of pushback… so frames arent the only factor.
rh legs give least pushback, short ll give most pushback… both assume on hit.

Just wondering if anyone else does Chun’s super after a lvl 2 FA. Example combo - FA (dash forward), st. hk, fierce kk, Super. It does 413 damage. It can be useful against players you can focus well especially against HSU crazy Chun’s.
I know it makes more sense to just do FA, mk sbk, Super (471 damage), but this ways a lot easier.
Good Chun-Li’s never have their super bar full.
That doesn’t make any sense.
I’ve considered it, but never really bothered executing that in battle. That seems like a more effective attack that won’t push the opponent away as Ultra has the custom of doing, depending on the distance and time you attack after crumple.
Well if they’re just sitting on it in the hopes of landing the super attack exclusively, sure, that wouldn’t seem wise. Liberally wasting it for the sake of keeping someone off you, yet failing to get the fullest amount of damage isn’t practical either.
Your statement would hold a lot more weight if you fleshed out the reasoning a bit further.
I posted this in the newb question thread, but didn’t get anything. Maybe it’ll get some light here.
In the Ricky vs. Daigo vid, Ricky punished a whiffed SRK with close st.RH xx EX Legs, EX SBK mid screen. Looked like he got all the hits too. When I try that out mid screen on Ryu, I can only get two hits of the EX SBK. How, guys? How?
You must be mashing the inputs too fast. There’s no magical method. MM has a video that shows how to get out EX legs. One method is by double-tapping short/forward, the other is by pressing short, forward, short, forward, forward in a rapid, smooth sequence. Master one of those input methods and you should have a much easier time executing them on command.
Mashing will only get you so far when you are going for precision attacks like the one Ricky used against Daigo. If you’re not careful, you will end up getting the first hit, yet end up with standard LL (lightning legs). Try to practice this in training till it commits to muscle memory.
EX legs definitely isn’t the problem.
I can’t seem to juggle the full EX SBK midscreen. I thought it had something to do with timing at first, but regardless of if I let Ryu drop a little or do the SBK as soon as possible, it’s always two hits. G1 is choked up with Ryu’s, so I want this punish combo down X_X
It might be spacing intensive? You might have to have a bit of space between you and Ryu?
I’m watching the video over and over…I just can’t figure it out. Ricky walked right up to Daigo’s face after the blocked DP. So I don’t think it’s spacing. This is hella annoying…:bluu:
Take a step before the EX SBK?
While retaining charge?
That’s actually a thought that crossed my mind…I even tried karaing f+MK, but that didn’t work.
omfg, nevermind. I just tried it (walking forward a bit), it works. I hate this game. close st.RH xx EX Legs (charge df) EX sbk (go from df, to f for a split second, to uf). She can move forward a little and still retain her down charge…8 hits on ryu. 346 damage. 510 stun. Easier then it sounds too after some practice. I think we have a new punish combo mid screen, folks.
EDIT: I wouldn’t try this online though.
You really don’t need to worry so much about getting the second set to juggle. If you’re mid-screen, it’s possible to complete the Ultra juggle just off the initial EX attack set.
I am sure the other skilled Chuns will offer similar insight. I can tell you from personal experience executing it (and being punished by this sequence personally) that it’s not mandatory to do 2 sets of EX Legs.
I think you misunderstood the problem.
I was trying to get close st.RH xx EX legs, then juggle EX SBK mid-screen. No ultra. But problem solved, so case closed. =]
Oh… ricky was probably charging immediately after executing EX Legs. It’s a nice stylish little combo.
O I’ve been trying to figure this out as well. This combo is a great punisher
Unfortunately I think it’s character specific…I tried this before on rufus and I couldn’t even get a single hit from the ex sbk (while on ryu you get one hit even if you don’t do the step forward)
Probably. Although on Rufus, EX legs hits 4 times. That means higher launch, as well as more pushback. On Ryu, it hits 3. I wouldn’t be surprised if this combo can only be done on characters that get hit by 3 hit legs. Hell, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a Ryu-only combo. But there’s tons of Ryu’s running around, so whatever.
ex sbk hits Akuma 3 times without needing to walk forward… it could possibly work better for other chars
does anyone here use Hard Trial Challenge #3 in a real match??? how practical is it???
i think its fairly easy to preform compared to #4…
i was playing against Ryu (who loves jumping backwards then spam Hadukens when pressured)…
so i saved my meter:
HK Hasan-Shu over Haduken (which is a confirmed hit) then Super…
the problem here is that having EX meter is very tempting… i end up using it for EX.SBK (especially on wakeup) or EX.Legs…
